@DanR "BTW, you guys need to start a new baseball thread. It took me about five minutes to scroll all the way to the bottom. LOL." OK guys & gals here is the new thread. Barely had time to listen to much anything unless I'm in the truck so gotta get this up then hit the rock pile again before the rain returns. Wouldn't mind getting an ACE TO REPLACE VENTURA cause he isn't holding up his end right now, but just don't think it's likely Dayton Moore will give up much for a one season, rent a pitcher like Cueto or Leake. Vargas is coming off the DL soon & Medlin also after his 2nd TJ surgery & my gut feeling is Moore will try to play the hand he's got. If we could get vastly improved offensive production from Rios in RF I'm sure there would be little talk of replacing Infante with Ben Zobrist. Our defense is as good as it gets & that chemistry is a SUPER important as all us Jayhawk fans know. Also Davis is primed & ready to be a closer so maybe trading Greg Holland could get us a decent starter, but would be really disappointed if we had to include a Brandon Finnegan also. Holland is a FA this Winter but Finnegan has the package teams covet for the future... plus he has playoff & even WS experience to boot. He's been a starter in college so maybe the next BIG THING is squarely under our whiffy old proboscis. The trade deadline ain't far off so we will know pretty soon... OK @wissoxfan83 - We're takin Sales to the woodshed today...but not for the plunkins...it's for da DIVISION titleagain :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: :sparkles: :+1: :star: !!!
Up 1-0 on Sales is good enough for the girls I go with..forget the woodshed-just get Duffy some breathing room...
@globaljaybird finally u show up! Where's brooks?
Where's who? Haven't seen him. :see_no_evil: :hear_no_evil: :speak_no_evil:
@Crimsonorblue22 Talked to him early yesterday but not today. Dodged rain today so now is abt too hot to keep painting. No one cracking the whip - I QUIT !!!
@globaljaybird u need to rest! Brooks probably forgot the time!
Nice play by Esky.
I guess if you don't include people's names in comment they don't look at it. :wink:
Guess it works
@Crimsonorblue22 Always an excuse. Sounds like the POTUS.
@Crimsonorblue22 Ssssh,,,Don't tell anybody I said that.
@globaljaybird Rock Chalk Royalshawk?
Fast game. Over half way in 1 hr 10 min.
Where's @wissoxfan83? He might wet himself as fast as this one is going.
@Crimsonorblue22 Did Duff start?
That brunette you see behind rh hitters is wearing the same top she was wearing Friday.
@Crimsonorblue22 No, black top with spaghetti straps.
LooooooooCain!
Hoz and I r back together, he realized I was better for his game!π³π
@Crimsonorblue22 Yeah. Big sunglasses, long hair and very pretty. Can only see her when they do the frontal shot of rh hitters and she's be to our right of the hitter.
@Crimsonorblue22 The guy in green pants and yellow M&M's jacket?
@Crimsonorblue22 Brunette far better looking and better dressed.
@Crimsonorblue22 About shower time for Duff.
@Crimsonorblue22 OUT!!!
Gets in trouble and gets 2 SO's to close out the inning. Good pitching by Duff. Could've done without WS runners at 2nd and 3rd with 1 out though.
Paulo with the 2 run dinger. 4-0 R's
@wissoxfan83 This one's for you.....nah, nah, nah, nah, hey, hey, goodbye.
@brooksmd Just turned it on...maybe the Sox would sell Sale?! Prob rather vanquish Ventura...Sox are last in slugging, last in doubles, last in HR's, & last in da West...Not gonna get too giddy though cause we're back in Chitown once again this year for 3 more. Lots can happen in 3 months. That will pretty well take us to LATE NIGHT !!!
Sale or Cueto.
Don't think the R's have enough money to get Sale.
@globaljaybird You watching or listening?
After 7 it's Royals 4-0 with Duff doing an outstanding job except for one inning.
@globaljaybird It's Sunday. Rest.
@globaljaybird Well if you're watching, when they use the full frontal camera on rh hitters, check out the brunette in first row on the hitters left shoulder. Hot, Hot and Hot.
@Crimsonorblue22 Well you were checking out the fool wearing an M&M's jacket in 90+ weather.
Not like that kind of hot!
@Crimsonorblue22 He's gone, Suppose he passed out from heat prostration?
@Crimsonorblue22 :dizzy_face: ...fragrant...:sunglasses:
He's still there!
@Crimsonorblue22 Yep. My nephew makes M&M's at Topeka plant.
Damn U guys see that Uncle Charlie freeze Flowers ? Wow, defense has been damn stellar behind the Duff today - Infante with the catch & throw in the same motion. Like to see him get the complete game today...I can't remember the last one we had...
@Crimsonorblue22 Nope
Pretty new place, isn't it?
@Crimsonorblue22 Yep it is. The brunette with some scroungy looking dude.
Tmrw I go to the endodontist in wichita. I'm scared!! See if they can fix that dang tooth. Just a visit! Next mon I go to oral surgeon here to check my bone graft on other side.π°π°π°π°π°π°
A foot higher on the liner and Rios would still be running.
@Crimsonorblue22 She deserves a bf with an a/c suite and drives a Lambo.
Saw enough of Holland yesterday. Don't need to see him today.
@Crimsonorblue22 good luck...some bone grafts are difficult to heal & in rare instances don't. Rejection is uncommon but it can happen. I'm sure they explained that beforehand...:astonished:
Damn, 1 inning too long. Sorry Duff. Great game.
@Crimsonorblue22 lol
@globaljaybird if it doesn't work, they will do a sinus lift. What is that? I don't want to think about that!
@Crimsonorblue22 ...ouch...LFINO ?
@globaljaybird u knowi hate initials! What?ππ
@Crimsonorblue22 Hell if I know... LFINO !
@Crimsonorblue22 I'm just getting a cap tomorrow.
Melky looks like a roid rage waitin to happen...
Sexy esky!!! πͺπͺπͺπͺ
And Esky puts an exclamation mark on it. Great game guys.
Need salvy to start hitting again!

@Crimsonorblue22 I'll be here.
Duffy a good man!!
@Crimsonorblue22 Will try...don't think I'm back to work till Wed but have to verify tomorrow
@globaljaybird watch the heat!
Gotta go walk the trash down to the road and think about sumtin' to eat.
Royals now 55 wins-up 6 in the loss column on da twinkies & 11 on tiggers...Maybe home field all the way dis time...:+1:
@globaljaybird You drawing SS or waiting? Bozo has proposed a new law involving SS and gun control. What a dingbat.
Maybe I should erase that before NSA reads it and feds come after mine. And for others who may care to comment, yes I read the whole story.
@brooksmd @globaljaybird u guys sound like twins!π
@Crimsonorblue22 Just a couple of old cons who don't like the direction the country is headed.
@Crimsonorblue22 birds of a feather flock together...
@Crimsonorblue22 Thanks for the compliment ...
@globaljaybird I meant the way u talk, not what u r talking about.
@globaljaybird initials????
@Crimsonorblue22 Health Care Act-HCA - CB is Christian Brothers... Brandy...also if your Dr asks abt smoking, say no as there are exclusion clauses for certain type treatments.. Being obese is also reasons for exclusion in certain instances...Had to pass it to find out what's in it..har, har...
@globaljaybird thx!
Hey there guys (and gal @Crimsonorblue22)! Don't have much time to follow the site this summer but I wanted to stop by and share in the joy that the best team in the American League is bringing to Kansas City and all of us fans spread throughout the country. I've been reading a blog by Rany Jazayerli for several years now, he contributes to Grantland still, and even though he's letting the ink dry for a little bit I wanted to direct you to his site. He's as informed a fan as there is and an equally passionate human being. He's asked for donations to the Syrian American Medical Society, they're helping do their part to lessen the suffering that has befallen a country that is in their fourth year of civil war which has created one of the worst refugee crises in world history, and he's offered a few incentives for doing so. Read the blog and if you feel so persuaded to contribute, please do! If not, enjoy the articles about our Boys in Blue.
@VoyagingJayhawk will check it out! Stop by when u can, those guys-u know who-like to get pretty crazy. πβΎοΈ. ππβ€οΈ
@brooksmd @globaljaybird @Crimsonorblue22 Kudos to the Royals! I really thought they were a one hit wonder but they're proving me wrong. I was really hoping with Sale going today we'd get the split.
In a week we'll be back in Baton Rouge and I'll have instant internet service and I'll be able to smack talk you all a lot more. But for now, good luck Royals.
You are truly ignorant Royals fans if you think the Sox would give up Sale, 1 of 2 untouchable players on the entire team, to another team in the division. Geez...
If the Royals can get Cueto though, look out.
@MoonwalkMafia Sales has as good a stuff of any pitcher in the AL sadly on one of the worst teams. Is way too costly for a team with financial restraint & u r right not in division & definitely wrong fit for Royals...didn't let him in locker room earlier...don't want him there at all... Cueto would only be a rental for this season & giving up a Finnegan or a Dyson is not an option there either...JMO
@MoonwalkMafia I don't think any of us were serious about the R's getting Sale. Even I said the R's couldn't afford him. We all know if we crapped in one hand and wished for Sale in the other which would fill up the quickest. Like Stymie of the Little Rascals rubbing the lamp and saying "I wish I had a watermelon....."
@globaljaybird Gotta go get the red beans and rice started cause that's what my wife said she wanted for dinner. Gotta keep her happy as she's only one gainfully employed.
Beatin 13-4 Cole tonight was huge. One of the best pitchers in the NL-20 games over .500 now...
The Royals did an exact flip flop on yesterday's roster moves... Vargas back to DL & Ventura back to da bigs. Vargas has ligament tear in his pitching arm & Ventura, well, who knows? Maybe the sophomore jinx or maybe the shock of demotion will spin his butt around like it did last season for DA MOOSE. Is unclear if he'll be outta the bullpen for now or back in the rotation. Whatever the method he has to get control of the off pitches cause MLB hitters can sit on the fastball & that's what they're doing Makes no diff if it's pitcher or hitter, the Uncle Charlie curveball is what eparates the men from the boys at this level & honestly that's why guys like Orlando spend 10 years in the minors & can't make a big league roster. Ace simply has to get command of his curveball or we need to trade for another starter before next week's deadline comes & goes...
Royals trade for Johnny Cueto... Let's make a deal !!!
610 sports radio reporting Royals trade 2 more minor league pitchers for A's Ben Zobrist. Sheesh, that's about 4 southpaws in a week out the door. Hope the well ain't goin dry. Not verified yet on Royals website... Stay tuned.
Tigers trade Price to Toronto-will we face him this trip? Stay tuned...
@globaljaybird sorry to see wheels orlando go!ππ
@Crimsonorblue22 Me either I'm not a fan of Zobrist but maybe Gordo won't be up to speed by Oct & they thought the bigger bat is nec going forward... Just a hunch...
Price lookin really tough & Donaldson pimps again after taking Santana deep. Ervin consistently not pitching inside & that's what happens when good hitters get their arms extended. Also the alleys in Toronto are only about 375 & Santana looking like he's throwing bp now. Can't be afraid to pitch on the inside half of the plate...as Yost summed up after the game yesterday. Twinkies better get him out before Jays start scoring touchdowns...
Price takin a 3 hitter to the 8th-Jays are for real with him in the rotation...
Tough road trip done so back to Kauffman tonight. Here a a few minor league guys that we may see when the rosters expand in Sept. Bubba Starling is doing very well in 2 AA ball in Arkansas right now...

Glad we're up 10 games in the loss column but that's the great thing about having a huge division lead when you hit a skid, you don't have to push the pen through an every day, do or die game like they did last year. Plus starters can still get needed rest days to pamper injuries that pile up after having about a half dozen scheduled days off in months. I can remember having one off in three months when I was a real young guy but I wasn't being physically forced to accomplish what these athletes do for 7 straight months-8 if you tack on spring training. That is just amazing if you ask me.
The Jays are really coming on right now but I still think we're the team to beat. After all we are defending AL Champs !!
Four straight wins & a complete game shutout by Cueto... Home field means everything & they're abt 6 games up in the race for that advantage. ....."KC Jones you better Watch Your Speed."
........ JR Robertson & The Band. But keep that train highballin anyway !!!
Chris Medlin will replace Guthrie tonight as the starter vs Baltimore in game 1 at Kauffman Stadium. He was 15-12 in 31 starts w/3.11 era for the Braves last year. Royal's are up about 7 games for home field advantage in the post season so there is still an urgency to win every game they can & they proved that again yesterday in Beantown. He could ultimately prove to be the real ace in the hole for Yost's rotation in the post season.
"It gives us another option (for the postseason) to see what direction we want to go," Yost told MLB's official website. "Obviously there's been with Jeremy some production (issues), but it's more about finding out about Medlen."
ROYALS 7 games up in race for home field as of today. Toronto must go 22-9 & Royals 16-16 to end up tied for the advantage. With 32 games remaining & rosters expanding to 40 today I like our chances. Even at that Toronto may still be the toughest out in the upcoming playoffs, Detroit visits Kauffman starting a 9 game home stand this evening & only about 16 home games remaining before another BLUE OCTOBER !! Hope this one is as much fun as the last & delivers us to the threshold of another LATE NIGHT !!
Every game critical now for home field advantage in post season. Jays vs Yanks this weekend so we need to win most every game vs Baltimore. Yanks only 1 back of Toronto so we have to keep the foot on the gas at all times. Duffy gets the start tonight vs Mike Wright at 6:10 CT in homer friendly Camden Yard. Take no prisoners !!
@globaljaybird "Take no prisoners!!" The O's did just that last night. Two grand salami's and 10 runs in the 8th. Now only 3 games up for home field advantage. The way things are going we'll be lucky to get a wild card spot.
This could be a literal Blue October if Ned keeps managing like he's never been there before, or the proverbial bonehead @brooksmd refers to with a total free fall into the playoffs. That's not the way we should make our entrance with Toronto locking up home field & playing excellent ball.
ALDS game 1 starter is likely Yordano Ventura. Since July 26 he's been our best starter & gone 11-3 with a 3.10 era. "Ace" pitched on Saturday and tied a career high with 11 strikeouts against the Twins, & would be on his normal rest if he were to pitch on Thursday.
This is likely thepost season roster for the AL Centra Champion Kansas City Royals as per their official website:
Shortstop Alcides Escobar: Escobar was put back into the leadoff spot in the lineup last week and the team promptly went 5-0. The Royals are 44 games over .500 with Escobar in the top spot since last year (including the postseason). "I'm just more comfortable hitting leadoff," he said. "Ned said I can swing at anything no matter the count."
Second baseman Ben Zobrist: A big acquisition before the Trade Deadline who has been solid offensively.
Center fielder Lorenzo Cain: Playing through a deep bone bruise in his right knee but says he will be fine for the postseason. "I played through it last year," he said. "I'll be fine."
First baseman Eric Hosmer: Slumped in September but had a big October last year. "We had a big series to end it with Minnesota," he said. "I think that atmosphere will help us going into the playoffs."
Designated hitter Kendrys Morales: Definite candidate for the AL Comeback Player of the Year Award. What a signing.
Third baseman Mike Moustakas: Learned how to consistently go the other way and had a breakthrough season.
Catcher Salvador Perez: Should be much more rested this postseason than in 2014, when he clearly was fatigued.
Left fielder Alex Gordon: Dropped to the No. 8 spot and makes the order so much deeper.
Right fielder Alex Rios: Caught fire in the middle of August. Could be a sleeper weapon in his first career postseason. "I'm so proud to be able to get there with this group of guys," he said.
BENCH
Catcher Drew Butera: Was with the Dodgers last season but not on postseason roster. This will be his first postseason experience.
Utility infielder Christian Colon: One of last year's AL Wild Card Game heroes.
Outfielder Jarrod Dyson: Could be a late-inning defensive replacement for Rios and, of course, a pinch-running threat. "I'll do whatever I can when they ask me," he said.
Outfielder Paulo Orlando: One of the pleasant surprises in 2015. Nice skill set as he can hit for power and has speed.
Outfielder Gore: Should get the nod because he is a magnificent weapon as a pinch-runner late in games. Simply doesn't get thrown out, so if Yost is down by a run, he's a game-changer. No real spot for Gomes with Rios hitting as well as he did. "No one has told me anything," Gore said. "I hope I can make it and help them when they need me."
STARTERS
Right-hander Yordano Ventura: He's the man now. The ace. And he might go in Game 4 if there is one.
Right-hander Johnny Cueto: He was acquired to be an ace but Ventura stole the role. Cueto has been much better his last few outings after a rough patch.
Right-hander Edinson Volquez: The wild card here. Was solid most of the year, but can he produce in the postseason?
RELIEVERS
Right-hander Wade Davis: Arguably the best in baseball, and soothes the loss of Greg Holland, who was in the clubhouse with his arm in a cast after last week's Tommy John surgery. "We hugged," Davis said. "I know he'd like to be playing."
Right-hander Kelvin Herrera: Brings some swagger along with that 100-mph fastball.
Right-hander Ryan Madson: Another candidate for the AL Comeback Player of the Year Award. What a season he had.
Left-hander Danny Duffy: Dropped from the rotation, Duffy has been a force in the bullpen. "Like I said when I went to the bullpen: I'm pumped," he said.
Left-hander Franklin Morales: Struggled down the stretch.
Right-hander Luke Hochevar: Has been up and down lately, so Yost may not use him in high-leverage spots.
Right-hander Kris Medlen: Another nice comeback story who can throw strikes.
Right-hander Chris Young: He was lights-out in his last two starts after learning his father had passed away. A veteran who knows how to get outs.
..
The roster has been set with the only real question answered with Gore over Gomes on the bench. Let the games begin...YEAAAAAH '!!!
@globaljaybird we have an updated threadπ
BLUE OCTOBER continues after Cueto's gem...
Volquez game 1 starter vs Jays. When asked if anyone had ever pimped a home run like Bautista did yesterday vs Texas, he replied with a laugh, "too many times."
If Johnny Cueto can make similar adjustments as Edison Volquez did in game 1 & hold walks to zero like his last start, we may be up 3-0 when a super-motivated, battle tested, Chris Young takes the mound tomorrow in game 4. Cueto & Young are both coming off almost flawless starts & keeping these slammin Jays to solo shots is paramount in pivotal game 3. Young was nothing short of phenomenal in his past 2 starts since his Father's passing & Cueto fanned 8, giving up 2 hits & ZERO walks in his gem vs Houston. If we can steal 1 game in Toronto, we will likely return the World Series to KC in another matchup with home field advantage. Another cool Father/son story connection is catcher Sal Butera facing off against his father, who is a scout for the Jays, in this year's ALCS. The elder Butera was a catcher on the 87" World Champion Minnesota twins so no matter the outcome of this years' ALCS, Mom & her family will be going to the Big Show regardless...

@globaljaybird I repeatedly call myself not a baseball fan. Im more of a fair weather fan, literally. Ive got to see Royals games mostly during summer months, go out there in shorts and tshirt, grab a few beers and have some fun, win or lose. But, that said, I think its really cool how good KC is doing again this year. Since Im not in Kansas anymore, I like to read up on how they are doing here from what you all post. I did notice on ESPN, however, that when KC won game two, most of the talk was about how the Blue Jays lost game 2 and not how KC won it. Well, I hope KC can bring back to back World Series appearances to Kansas City. I think both sides of the state line can use something positive to cheer for and be proud of.
@Lulufulu ROCK CHALK ROYALS...Just watched the noon news & fox 4 said stubhub has appx 1900 standing room tickets starting about $325 & a few seats at about $350...here's an op for someone to join the fun...Ya gotta like our chances tonight & yes, the weather will likely be a factor with North winds & temps in the 40;s and a slight chance of late-game rain. Personally I dig this teams late game comebacks & heroics. I keep pinching myself everytime they do it again & again & again...this is just Soooooooooo Dang Cool !
@globaljaybird It is sooo dang cool!! When have the Royals EVER gone to back to back World Series? Its freekin awesome.
@Lulufulu The Shatto Dairy Family hits a grand slam with ROYAL BLUE French Vanilla milk in limited edition "Crown" bottles... 2 of the Shatto boys are friends & pretty cool guys for "farm boys". Worked with one for 30 years & the other for about 10. Great family too & tremendous, first class products. If you get a chance to snag some of these bottles don't pass up cornering a small piece of history cause the best is yet to come...ROCK CHALK ROYALS - Go win it all !!! http://www.kmbc.com/news/shattos-redhot-royals-blue-milk-returns-to-stores/36125306 β Shatto Milk Goes All In For The World Series #TakeTheMilk

@globaljaybird I was lucky enough to be at Game 7 of the 1985 world series .. got in free. My friend and I had a buddy working the gate so we slipped in for standing room only. Once the STL fans left we got to sit down. I was one of the fools that ran on the field after the game. Unforgettable.
This one feels much better. Due to the years of suffering, I think.
@HighEliteMajor Yeah I'd have to agree with that. Teams in the 70's were really super & only stacked Yankee teams kept them separated from the big trophy. Plus they reached the Series in 80' & even tho they lost to the Phillies, prior to 85' they enjoyed many years of great attendance & exciting, grade "A" baseball. We know full well that championships at this level are so difficult to achieve so I do think this one may be a little more appreciated & special than some others. This has been a resilient & tremendously fundamentally sound baseball team & they've been ahelluva lot of fun to follow & cheer for the last couple of years. Now it's prime time to cheer for the Jayhawks...Tip time about 28 hours away. ROCK CHALK ROYALS AND JAYHAWKS ...BEAK EM'...
@HighEliteMajor Hey, I was on that field too. Saw games 6 and 7. 6 was a thriller: I said to my friend "the next pitch could end the game, either in a loss (double play) or a win if 2 players score." Next pitch: 2 runs score, win.
@ParisHawk I was in Lawrence for game 6 at a party .. watched the last few innings there. A little under the influence as I recall. When my friend and I went over the wall after game 7, by the third base dugout, we both got snagged by a large KCMO cop. He held onto us for perhaps 10 seconds, but then he let us go as more started coming. Great memory.
@HighEliteMajor First base dugout for me. I waited until the cop let you go before going on the field ;)
