@wrwlumpy heard it was on a 6 ft goal too. Crazy kid!

It was at the All Area Fantasy Camp in Frontenac, KS.
Had dinner with Devonte, Framk, Wayne, Jamari and Landen last night.
Great group of kids who make me proud to be a Jayhawk.

@kansas-oats

Any word on why Devonte didn't play in the WUG?

The apparent elevation and aggressiveness of the dunk in the picture seems to suggest he has probably been well for awhile.

Any scoop?

Not a farmer although I do have a degree in environmental studies from KU and am addicted to fishing!
Devonte says his knee is fine and looking forward to the start of practice. The players are all off now and most of them were heading home this weekend. Coach has given them almost a month off now due to WUG. Landen said it is the longest break the players has been given in his four years. They all mentioned that it has been very difficult to adjust to the time difference going over and back still.
Interestingly enough, Frank seemed to be the biggest "hit" with the campers. Came away very impressed with his drive and desire. I know there has been some debate about his professional BB prospects but I would not bet against this young man.

@Crimsonorblue22 looked like a regulation goal to me.

Jul 26, 2015 02:15 PM #9

@wrwlumpy THats the Kstate game you guys...

Jul 26, 2015 02:28 PM #10

Dg said on twitter it was 6, I think he meant 8. His mom said on twitter that his tear was very slight.

@Lulufulu No, click on the link, and watch the video.

Jul 26, 2015 02:34 PM #12

@kansas-oats the farmer guess was on the oats.

Jul 26, 2015 03:48 PM #13

@Crimsonorblue22 Ok...that makes better sense..lol. He's 6'2, and he wasn't taller than the basket, but he did seem to sky over the rim with the ball.

Jul 27, 2015 12:17 AM #14

@wrwlumpy Omg! I didntsee the link. That is hilarious! Devonte dunks over the poor kid on what looks to be an 8 ft rim and buries his crotch in the kids face.

I've been told by people who do a lot of international travel that it takes about 1 day per time zone for the body to get reacclimated to the current time zone. It sounds like that's the case with a lot of the players, especially without any major obligations to speed up the process.

Looked like DG had intended to jump over the kid and realized (mid stream) he wasn't going to make it. He was about a foot short of jumping jack the kid.

Jul 27, 2015 01:44 PM #17

@Texas-Hawk-10 I've traveled back and forth from China for work a lot in the last 6 years (almost 2 times per year) and the worse part is coming home. It usually takes me a good week to get back on a decent sleep schedule. Some trips are worse than others especially if you can't sleep on planes.

@mihawk good info, glad u r here!

Jul 27, 2015 05:48 PM #19

the whole outlook of our season could have shifted if that kid jumped or turned and Devonte landed wrong....its a funny video but I had to watch it almost holding my breathe.

Jul 27, 2015 05:54 PM #20

@clevelandjayhawk do you think it surprised Selden too, or was he part of it?

Jul 27, 2015 05:59 PM #21

@Crimsonorblue22 I take it as Selden was in on it, since he gets out of there without really looking. The stunt would have been funnier if it was Tyler dunking on him also...but maybe I need to let these kids have fun and not think of what could have been. I guess I still think of R Stewart at the final four in 08.

Jul 27, 2015 06:10 PM #22

@clevelandjayhawk maybe if it wasn't Dg, we wouldn't worry as much, but he's had some crazy injuries!

Jul 27, 2015 06:52 PM #23

@Texas-Hawk-10
I have a funny story about that... About 15 yrs ago I was traveling thru Europe and I flew in and out of Amsterdam. My first hotel I stayed in was something like a B & B. Well I was jet lagged the first couple of days, so I was sleeping all day and up at night. On the 3rd day, the owner came by my room and said that she was worried about me and almost called the police because she hadn't seen me in 2 days. She thought I had overdosed on drugs! I had to explain to her that (even though I did visit a coffeehouse or two) it was jet lag and not drugs that were causing my off schedule. It was my first experience w jet lag and it is very real.
