Jahvon Quinnerly (probably totally butchered that spelling) is transferring from Nova. Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t KU one of his final options? If so, do you think Self goes after him, ala M. Newman?

Embiid has never been a 1 dimensional player. At least not since he was at KU. Dude has been dripping with talent in multiple phases of the game since his Frosh year.
It just seemed, to me, that Jay Wright and company, had a plan and worked that plan. On the other hand, we looked like our plan was to hope they missed shots. Self even said after the game that they knew V was going to have to miss shots in order for us to win. OOOPS! We have 6 days to prepare and that’s the strategy we come up with? Could we have at least put some pressure on the shooters? Practically all of their looks were WIDE open.
All frustration aside, we did overachieve this year, and we have a ton to be proud of/ thankful for. Making the FF is a huge accomplishment. It just looked like we ( Bill Self’s staff primarily) were content with being there, while Jay Wright and company were there to do work. Props to them.
If any of you haven’t seen them yet, J. Newell has 2 great reads on Malik and Svi, recently. I’m not tech-savvy enough to link them here, but if you Google, they should be pretty easy to find.

No one said you didn’t have a right to your opinion. You most certainly do. It’s just a pessimism vs. optimism thing. The chances that KU plays EXACTLY like they did yesterday, are slim. But if they do, they’ll probably get beat. Oh well. I choose to believe that they’ll rise to the challenge and play like the better team that they are. That’s not to say I won’t need a roll of TUMS next to me during the game though!
This site has become a pessimistic pit. Good Lord. It’s the NCAA tournament, the games are supposed to be tough. But they’re an 8 and we’re a 1 for a reason. Have a little faith. Jeez!

Now we all know the reason for the sudden flip from Ayton. Bastard Miller. Think what this season could be if we had Ayton. If you remember, all the experts had him as a KU lock and then at the last minute, he flipped to UA, seemingly, out of nowhere. I hope Miller fries and is out of coaching for a long time.

Hopefully, Mitch’s coming out party is a sign he’s turned a corner. Rather than an aberration. I fear the latter...
It was nice to see a semblance of a pulse this game, and the emergence of Mitch, would go miles for this team to be able to breathe a bit. As it stands, if DG, SVI or Doke aren’t near flawless, this team is above average, only. Firing on all cylinders, this team could fell any team in the nation; and could be a real threat, if hot, to run through the tournament. But as for conference play, they’ll only finish in the top third at best.

Love a lot about this kid, especially his length. I'm a little worried about his low release point on his jumper though. Fast closing, athletic defenders will block that. He does have a quick release, and his height will negate that to some degree. Either way, this kid has me excited. Senior year Tyshawn made me fall in love with tall guards who can drive the ball!!!

I'm not going to lie, I had my finger on the "off" button of the remote. But I heard Dukie V ragging on the KU fans who were leaving. I thought he was right, I'm going to watch the end of this train wreck if it gives me an ulcer or not. You cannot explain that ending. That is some serious juju/ mystique going on there. The Phog is real! Plus, we have Bill Self. That man is a genius is in late game situations. He is an expert at extending the game. Not taking anything away from the players, though. They made the plays at the end. All the credit to them.

Kevin Durant and Texas lost to KU in 07 ( I believe) at AFH (I know bc I was there), His only regular season meeting w the Jayhawks. They met again in the Big12 championship, which they lost again. Both epic games. That team had Julian Wright on it so it was the year before the 08 championship team.

I know it's very early, but Bragg does not look ready for the next level at all. I know it's been a popular notion to throw his name out there for departure after this year, and he supposedly was tossing the idea around last year (more media hype than anything I think), but he needs to get much tougher and doesn't do anything one thing, great. Perry was an average rebounder, but his offensive skill set was stellar. I know the NBA is trending towards smaller players, but Bragg is even small by their standards. He needs to get better across the board, IMO. Sorry for the rambling, but that is my basic point. Carlton needs to work on many facets of his game to improve from good to great at something before he can toy w the idea of jumping to the next level. Is there anything, now, that he does extremely well? Pass maybe?
Why did you leave out our Big12/ SEC road game? If you included it for UNC, why no t KU and Duke? I realize it's not till late Jan, but still a non-con road game.

Lulu, his wife, Molly, is a KU grad. Incidentally she was there the same time I was (96-00). She was a Kappa Alpha Theta and I was a waiter there for 3 years while she was in the house. A very pleasant gal who had a hell of a sense of humor. She's from Chicago, I believe... Btw, being a waiter in a sorority house is the best job on campus. Free food and getting to spend 2 meals/ day, 5 days/ week with a bunch of good looking sorority girls. If any of you have any sons who will be attending KU in the future, I highly recommend it.
