Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview
Mar 12, 2017 09:16 PM #1

We're #1 and we're going to win it all.

Mar 12, 2017 09:17 PM #2

Tulsa, KC looking good

Mar 12, 2017 09:20 PM #3

The bracketologists are all just waiting like us to see if they're right.

Mar 12, 2017 09:26 PM #4

Hoping to have SW punxatawny State as the 2 seed in our region, Missouri as the 4 seed, LSU as the 8, and Haskell as the 16. That should help. Hopefully they put Duke, UNC, Villanova, Arizona, UCLA, Kentucky, Gonzaga in the same region. That should help.

Mar 12, 2017 09:28 PM #5

Who do you all got in your Masters pool? NIT pool? JUCO pool?

Mar 12, 2017 09:31 PM #6

Expecting some whining today. That's ok it's a KUBuckets tradition!

Mar 12, 2017 09:32 PM #7

I don't mind talking to myself, do it all the time.

Mar 12, 2017 09:34 PM #8

Looks like KU will be the second overall seed based on the bracket layout CBS showed.

Mar 12, 2017 09:34 PM #9

Wow, badgers drop all the way to 8.

Mar 12, 2017 09:36 PM #10

Duke #2

Mar 12, 2017 09:36 PM #11

Well we're not playing Duke until the final four at least.

Mar 12, 2017 09:36 PM #12

Since Duke is in the East, that likely means Oregon is going to be our 2 seed.

Mar 12, 2017 09:37 PM #13

I'm curious who the 3 seed in the South is going to be because I thought that was going to be Baylor instead of Baylor in the East.

Mar 12, 2017 09:38 PM #14

Setting up some geography matchups. Possible all texas game with SMU and Baylor and VTech and Virginia if things get to the sweet 16.

Mar 12, 2017 09:39 PM #15

Duke and Baylor is going to be a helluva Sweet 16 match up.

Mar 12, 2017 09:40 PM #16

Any takers were the 1 in the Midwest? 😁

Mar 12, 2017 09:40 PM #17

Smu will beat baylor

Mar 12, 2017 09:41 PM #18

Arizona will be the 2 seed in our bracket.

Mar 12, 2017 09:41 PM #19

@cragarhawk 😉💙❤️🏀🏀

Mar 12, 2017 09:41 PM #20

Nova couldn't have gotten an easier trip to the final 4.. That's a overall seed being rewarded

Mar 12, 2017 09:41 PM #21

@KUSTEVE I think you're right

Mar 12, 2017 09:41 PM #22

@KUSTEVE they should really be the one or the two in the West honestly

Mar 12, 2017 09:42 PM #23

@KUSTEVE Arizona won the PAC 12 so they will stay out west, we're getting Oregon.

Mar 12, 2017 09:42 PM #24

@BeddieKU23 Except Duke might solve them or Virginia.

Mar 12, 2017 09:42 PM #25

Of course, I've got to say the Badgers will knock them off!

Mar 12, 2017 09:42 PM #26

@cragarhawk said:

@KUSTEVE they should really be the one or the two in the West honestly

Oregon is getting it. Regardless one of the pac 12 schools will be in the bracket

Mar 12, 2017 09:42 PM #27

Interesting that duke is a lower 2 seed, we got a crap draw with Nova last year.

Mar 12, 2017 09:43 PM #28

@BeddieKU23
They got the toughest 2 in Duke. Just like us last year. Overall 1 gets toughest 2

Mar 12, 2017 09:44 PM #29

Izzo....

Mar 12, 2017 09:44 PM #30

@BeddieKU23 figures

Mar 12, 2017 09:44 PM #31

Cryclones!!!

Mar 12, 2017 09:44 PM #32

Wtf Iowa st in this region are u kidding me

Mar 12, 2017 09:44 PM #33

Izzo -- Bill's Kryptomite!

Mar 12, 2017 09:44 PM #34

Why the hell is ISU in our half of the bracket?

Mar 12, 2017 09:45 PM #35

Izzo is one of the few coaches I hate seeing, odd we didn't get WSU.

Mar 12, 2017 09:45 PM #36

Louisville our 2

Mar 12, 2017 09:45 PM #37

Fairly tough draw on the top half.

Mar 12, 2017 09:45 PM #38

UL does not deserve that 2 seed.

Mar 12, 2017 09:45 PM #39

Oregon will be the 3?

Mar 12, 2017 09:47 PM #40

Half the big12 teams in the same region???

Mar 12, 2017 09:47 PM #41

3 of 5 in one region what is wrong with the commitee

Mar 12, 2017 09:47 PM #42

Why are there 3 B12 teams in the same region?

Mar 12, 2017 09:47 PM #43

@cragarhawk weird

Mar 12, 2017 09:47 PM #44

Why so many B12 teams in Midwest?

Mar 12, 2017 09:47 PM #45

Oregon and UL should be flipped, but I guess Oregon is getting dropped because of injuries.

Mar 12, 2017 09:48 PM #46

Oregon's big man is out, right?

Mar 12, 2017 09:48 PM #47

@wissox yes

Mar 12, 2017 09:48 PM #48

We've had much worse draws than this in the past.

Mar 12, 2017 09:48 PM #49

@Texas-Hawk-10 agreed

Mar 12, 2017 09:48 PM #50

No Marsha!

Mar 12, 2017 09:48 PM #51

@Texas-Hawk-10 we got lucky. i love our bracket.

Mar 12, 2017 09:49 PM #52

Miami/MSU in the 2nd round makes me nervous. One a traditional power, one a pretty tough out which has some good wins this year.

Mar 12, 2017 09:49 PM #53

Idk... Hate seeing izzo. Purdue and Louisville are matchup problems. Iowa's state beat us in the Phog. Hopefully there would be a revenge factor

Mar 12, 2017 09:49 PM #54

Seth Davis smokes crack during breaks

Mar 12, 2017 09:50 PM #55

@wissox true story. Miami is capable of good ball as well

Mar 12, 2017 09:50 PM #56

@BeddieKU23 Wow, that's a bombshell. Do you have any evidence? Pics? This is big!

Mar 12, 2017 09:52 PM #57

@kjayhawks You just knew they would screw the B12 somehow.

Mar 12, 2017 09:52 PM #58

Our region is stacked.

Mar 12, 2017 09:52 PM #59

i worry about all matchups, but to not have wichita state, duke, ucla, I'm good w that

Mar 12, 2017 09:53 PM #60

@Big-Clyde52 YES! My prediction from way above is true!

Mar 12, 2017 09:53 PM #61

Miami is pretty good. I'd rather play Michigan St.

Mar 12, 2017 09:54 PM #62

@Jayrawks1 agreed. Could have been worse. Still hard though

Mar 12, 2017 09:54 PM #63

@wissox said:

@BeddieKU23 Wow, that's a bombshell. Do you have any evidence? Pics? This is big!

Just listen to him talk. Evidence is clear

Mar 12, 2017 09:54 PM #64

UNC's got a much easier 2nd round than we do.

Mar 12, 2017 09:54 PM #65

Cupcake central

Mar 12, 2017 09:55 PM #66

Many of you just hoped WSU wouldn't be in our bracket and you got your wish. I would have liked to have revenged that last WSU loss. I can't wait until we play on Friday.

Mar 12, 2017 09:55 PM #67

UW beats minny twice, gets an 8 seed, minny gets a 5.

Mar 12, 2017 09:55 PM #68

anyone else think ab JJ who most had going to Mich state could play them round two?

Mar 12, 2017 09:55 PM #69

Just handed unc a sleep walk

Mar 12, 2017 09:55 PM #70

Every year I pick big 12 teams for a couple of rounds and EVERY year they let me down.

Mar 12, 2017 09:56 PM #71

Really don't want a ISU match up in KC.

Mar 12, 2017 09:56 PM #72

@wissox UW also played like crap down the stretch too though.

Mar 12, 2017 09:56 PM #73

@cragarhawk said:

Half the big12 teams in the same region???

Hopefully we get 6, but your point still stands

Mar 12, 2017 09:56 PM #74

@kjayhawks they did this for ticket sales

Mar 12, 2017 09:56 PM #75

WSU a 10 seed? Wow...

Mar 12, 2017 09:56 PM #76

@BeddieKU23 Playing Kentucky potentially, never really easy in my view.

Mar 12, 2017 09:57 PM #77

Marsha gonna be mad

Mar 12, 2017 09:57 PM #78

kentucky wichita state a 10 seed and ucla? thats tough

Mar 12, 2017 09:57 PM #79

UCLA 3 seed

Mar 12, 2017 09:57 PM #80

Kentucky is probably going to be pissed they got Wichita St. Shockers are way the hell better than a 10 seed. WSU might be one of the few teams that can slow down UCLA as well.

Mar 12, 2017 09:57 PM #81

@wissox said:

@BeddieKU23 Playing Kentucky potentially, never really easy in my view.

They already played

Mar 12, 2017 09:58 PM #82

@HawkChamp Who would we rather play in KC, Iowa St or Purdue? Tough matchup, either way. Purdue would have less fans there for sure.

Mar 12, 2017 09:58 PM #83

go danny, ku still hurting ksu lol

Mar 12, 2017 09:58 PM #84

@BeddieKU23 I forgot about that.

Mar 12, 2017 09:58 PM #85

I generally cheer for Big12 teams to advance, but I will be cheering for Danny and Wake to beat the grapes.

Mar 12, 2017 09:58 PM #86

@Big-Clyde52 Purdue probably. Zone Biggie and haas

Mar 12, 2017 09:59 PM #87

I'm going to enjoy Danny beat KSU!

Mar 12, 2017 09:59 PM #88

South is absolutely loaded

Mar 12, 2017 09:59 PM #89

So - our 2nd game is potentially mich state, and our third is iowa state ??
What the hell ?

Mar 12, 2017 09:59 PM #90

That's a really tough draw for Kentucky.

Mar 12, 2017 09:59 PM #91

@wissox said:

@BeddieKU23 I forgot about that.

But it was great game that Kentucky won on monks 59 thousand points

Mar 12, 2017 09:59 PM #92

Wichita can beat Kentucky

Mar 12, 2017 10:00 PM #93

I knew KSU was in after WSU was a 10, Illinois State and them were fighting for that spot.

Mar 12, 2017 10:01 PM #94

@kjayhawks WSU a top 11 kenpom team is a 10 seed lol. Disrespected them huge.. wouldn't be surprised to see them make a deep run

Mar 12, 2017 10:01 PM #95

Gonzaga/Arizona/WVU probably 1,2,3 in the West now.

Mar 12, 2017 10:02 PM #96

@Bosthawk I think that loss to them in AFH was a fluke. We led comfortably, then just let our guard down and it became hard to stop momentum. ISU is going to like the KC site however.

Mar 12, 2017 10:02 PM #97

@cragarhawk they could potentially face Kentucky, UCLA and North Carolina. They probably aren't making it out of there

Mar 12, 2017 10:02 PM #98

@wissox gotta get there first!

Mar 12, 2017 10:03 PM #99

@wissox they have to win two games first

Mar 12, 2017 10:04 PM #100

So when are schedules and playing times announced?

Mar 12, 2017 10:04 PM #101

Northwestern !

Mar 12, 2017 10:04 PM #102

@ParisHawk later tonight, I believe

Mar 12, 2017 10:05 PM #103

If any of you get spectrum sports or Cox, they have a KU selection Sunday special on at 5:30

Mar 12, 2017 10:05 PM #104

That's not a bad draw for WVU.

Mar 12, 2017 10:05 PM #105

@HawkChamp Thanks

Mar 12, 2017 10:08 PM #106

Josh gets another shot at the clones.

Mar 12, 2017 10:08 PM #107

No cuse a million for whineheim on espn later

Mar 12, 2017 10:09 PM #108

@wrwlumpy ISU would have a tough time with Purdue

Mar 12, 2017 10:09 PM #109

West bracket weakest, followed by the East.

Mar 12, 2017 10:10 PM #110

So glad Syracuse didn't get in this year. They didn't deserve it last year either and really didn't deserve it this year.

Mar 12, 2017 10:10 PM #111

@BeddieKU23 Only team that I thought was kind of snubbed is Illinois St.

Syracuse has 14 losses. I'm going to enjoy listening to boeheim whine.

Mar 12, 2017 10:12 PM #112

All I got to say is we better show up to play games 1-6. No taking anyone lightly. Rock Chalk.

Mar 12, 2017 10:12 PM #113

@KirkIsMyHinrich

If Illinois st hadn't been dominated by Wichita in the last 2 meetings it would have made a difference. Tough for the mid major when they don't play enough big teams

Mar 12, 2017 10:12 PM #114

Just looked at 19-15 Vanderbilts schedule. What a joke of a selection! 15 freaking losses. 8 in the pitiful SEC. 1 loss to Bucknell. Lose by 23 to Middle Tennessee. Don't know who should have gotten in instead, but there's no way they should be in.

Arizona deserved a 1 seed more than UNC.

And again, because I follow that other team, to give them an 8 seed and Minnesota a 5 is just totally headscratching. Pitino provide some companions for the committee? UW beat minny twice, finished ahead of them in the regular season, went further in the conference tourney. I know you all don't care but the Badgers have to play a tough 9 seed and then probably the overall #1. I wasn't expecting much for them the way this season ended, but they should have been treated better than that.

Mar 12, 2017 10:17 PM #115

I didn't think the brackets were being released until 530? What did I miss?

Mar 12, 2017 10:17 PM #116

@Blown You missed it all! My best advice now is to look it up!

Mar 12, 2017 10:17 PM #117

@wissox wtf, was it 530 Eastern I guess?

Mar 12, 2017 10:19 PM #118

@Blown sorry dude. Forgot to change your clock maybe? No worries really.

Mar 12, 2017 10:19 PM #119

@Blown said:

@wissox wtf, was it 530 Eastern I guess?

Does anyone really know what time it is? Does anyone really care?

Time Zones and DST.

Mar 12, 2017 10:21 PM #120

So by my count:

9 ACC (60%)
7 Big East (70%)
7 Big 10 (50%)
6 Big 12 (60%)
5 SEC (36%)
4 PAC 12 (33%)

Committee obviously didn't think much of the PAC12. Arizona could have been a 1 seed, they are a 2. Oregon could have been a 2 seed they are a 3. UCLA is a 3. Cal got left out.

Mar 12, 2017 10:22 PM #121

I cant find a bracket on line yet. DId KSU Get in>

Mar 12, 2017 10:22 PM #122

@Blown said:

I cant find a bracket on line yet. DId KSU Get in>

yes

Mar 12, 2017 10:23 PM #123

@Blown

Yes. Playing Wake Forest.

Mar 12, 2017 10:23 PM #124

@Blown Yes, KState has a play in game if you count that as being in.

Mar 12, 2017 10:24 PM #125

FOund one.

Mar 12, 2017 10:25 PM #126

@Blown KSU is playing Danny Manning's Wake Forest Tuesday night in a First Four game.

Mar 12, 2017 10:25 PM #127

Louisville is 2 seed? Wow.

Iowa State in our grouping. Stupid.

Potential Second game vs. MichSt. Ouch.

Like our chances if we can get to the Regionals.

Mar 12, 2017 10:25 PM #128

@Blown So you missed all the instant commentary!

Mar 12, 2017 10:26 PM #129

@mayjay Yes. Been working on some Continuing Ed thinking this all started at 530 today. Oh well!

Mar 12, 2017 10:26 PM #130

Not a fan of this one. Possibly playing a perennial Final Four team in the second round, or a team that's beat UNC, Duke, and Florida State. Then the possibility of playing ISU in KC...

Mar 12, 2017 10:26 PM #131

@Blown It did start at 5:30, if you lived in the Eastern time zone.

Mar 12, 2017 10:30 PM #132

UNC Gets a cakewalk into the elite 8.

Mar 12, 2017 10:31 PM #133

So......Is the rule that you can play someone in your conference prior to Elite 8 if you only played them twice? I thought it was once. Surprised we might play ISU in the S16. I think I would rather see the bad match up with Purdue and their 2 big guys....ISU floods KC.
Also..............MSU (and Izzo).......if they get past Miami...........tough 2nd round matchup.

Mar 12, 2017 10:33 PM #134

Positive of facing Michigan St is at least its a team this team won't have a problem getting up for.

I'm going to order my tickets now.

Mar 12, 2017 10:34 PM #135

@MoonwalkMafia I get it, but at the end of the day, we're a 1 seed...that means we should be able to beat all comers...and have to anyway to win a NC.

JustBringIt

Mar 12, 2017 10:36 PM #136

@wissox but to hear the talking heads, both UNC & Duke should be 1 seeds.

Mar 12, 2017 10:37 PM #137

michigan st will lose in the 1st round

Mar 12, 2017 10:37 PM #138

This pretty much sums up what a lot of us have said.

Gary Parrish on our being No. 1 seed:

!no1seed.JPG ↗

Mar 12, 2017 10:38 PM #139

Looking at all 4 regions, I kind of wish we had fallen to a #2 seed and been shipped West, which looks to be easiest bracket overall by far. Toughest is the South, although almost all of the strength is the bottom half. UNC and Duke seem to have easy paths to the E8; no surprise there.

Midwest presents some challenges, but if we're playing well is manageable. I don't like the potential of ISU in the Sweet 16 game, but we both have to get there first....

Mar 12, 2017 10:42 PM #140

@RockChalkinTexas of course, Gary is one that had us bumped from a 1 seed.

Perhaps that would give us more of chip?

Mar 12, 2017 10:42 PM #141

I like this draw. Miami can't score, they have one good road win against fellow offensively challenged Virginia while Virginia was cratering. Michigan St. can't win outside of East Lansing this year. Purdue is not a great team, it took a record setting shooting performance for ISU to beat Kansas. Louisville doesn't have a good road/neutral court win outside of Wichita St. Oregon lost their best big man. I really wouldn't be surprised to see Michigan emerge from that half of the bracket with the way they're playing right now.

KU really does have one of their easier draws for a path to the Final Four and I think KU has the weakest 2 and 3 seeds at this point considering injuries.

Mar 12, 2017 10:44 PM #142

@Texas-Hawk-10 this is a pretty tough bracket. Defense, of course, will be the key.

Mar 12, 2017 10:46 PM #143

Well a girl picks us to go to the final 4

Mar 12, 2017 10:47 PM #144

@HawkChamp Midwest is the 2nd easiest draw after the west and has a lot of offensively challenged teams in it.

Mar 12, 2017 10:56 PM #145

Bilas was commenting on how inconsistent the NCAA is and how they arbitrarily change criteria from year to year. There is no reason KU should be playing ISU in the Sweet 16 and makes Cronin correct saying that they want to sell tickets. If KU and ISU meet in KC, no doubt it will be a sellout. Hopefully ISU used up its 3 point good luck and they don't come out on fire; of course they need to get past Purdue.

I personally believe that Wichita State got, once again, grossly underseeded. They are #8 according to Pomeroy and 2 spots above KU and they get a #10 seed? Un-effin' believable. Having said that, I hope Dayton, my undergrad Alma Mater, beats them like drum.

Mar 12, 2017 10:57 PM #146

I hope we get the Clones in the Sweet 16. That would be a gift.

Mar 12, 2017 10:57 PM #147

I'm a little bit worried about a sweet sixteen matchup with Iowa St, but Iowa St would probably have to beat Purdue in order for that to happen. And Purdue is a bad matchup for Iowa St. Purdue has a 6'10 forward who is averaging 18.5 points and 12.6 rebounds per game named Caleb Swanigan. He's a legit NPOY candidate and Iowa State doesn't have anyone who can match up with him. Purdue is also a pretty good rebounding team and Iowa State is not. I don't think ISU is getting by Purdue.

Mar 12, 2017 10:58 PM #148

Sometimes I wonder what the committee uses to pick the last teams in. Can't be RPI with Illinois State 20 spots higher than KSU and USC 3 spots higher.

Mar 12, 2017 10:58 PM #149

@KUSTEVE Clones are playing really well. I would not consider it a gift at all. The last time we faced them...well, sure you remember us blowing that one ?

Mar 12, 2017 10:59 PM #150

I am going to the Sunday game in Tulsa. If anybody else is going, hit me up.

Mar 12, 2017 10:59 PM #151

In the "the Selection Committee is officially a bunch of morons" category, how can it be that Wisconsin is an #8 seed - behind Maryland and Minnesota and on the same line with Northwestern? Finished tied for second in the conference regular season and got to the title game, which none of the other 3 did. Truly defies explanation...

Mar 12, 2017 11:00 PM #152

Vegas:

Duke 5-1

UNC 6-1

KU 8-1

UK 8-1

Nova 8-1

Zags 10-1

Mar 12, 2017 11:00 PM #153

@kjayhawks

Both play in crappy conferences. Most prediction had the PAC 12 sending only 3 teams, albeit 3 very good teams.

Mar 12, 2017 11:00 PM #154

@Blown More importantly, does our team remember blowing a home game against an inferior opponent because they went through the motions the 2nd half?It's a gift.

Mar 12, 2017 11:01 PM #155

@BeddieKU23 Missouri valley is terrible

Mar 12, 2017 11:01 PM #156

Seth Greenberg looks like Uncle Fester from The Addams Family...

Mar 12, 2017 11:07 PM #157

@KUSTEVE they also just blew out TCU...and easily handled WVU. They have been on an uptick the last month. I would have preferred to see any of the other 5 seeds in our bracket.

Mar 12, 2017 11:10 PM #158

And, at risk of going down the @jaybate-2.0 rabbit hole on East Coast bias and the whole thing is engineered is anyway, the ACC was clearly handed gift seeds and match-ups. Easy paths for UNC and Duke. Notre Dame was given the only easy 5-12 match-up. FSU as the overall 10th ranked team????

As much as I wish it were otherwise, I do think the ACC is the strongest conference, especially over the top 5 or 6 in the conference, but this is ridiculous...

Mar 12, 2017 11:11 PM #159

@Blown yeah I wouldn't want to play them. I think they can beat Purdue.

Mar 12, 2017 11:16 PM #160

@Blown ISU has played well. I think Purdue will be a tough matchup with the 2 big guys......I don't think ISU gets by them.

Mar 12, 2017 11:17 PM #161

Calipari calling Bilas support of Duke out...like that.

Mar 12, 2017 11:18 PM #162

@Bwag

You mean Puke? 😂

Mar 12, 2017 11:25 PM #163

Mark Few fell asleep mid-sentence

Is all the crying about Syracuse simply to appease the NY television market?

Mar 12, 2017 11:32 PM #165

@BeddieKU23 6 BIg 12 teams, but point taken.

ISU is a head scratcher. Oh, those silly bracket makers!

Mar 12, 2017 11:38 PM #166

@KUSTEVE said:

@Blown More importantly, does our team remember blowing a home game against an inferior opponent because they went through the motions the 2nd half?It's a gift.

It also took a record shooting performance from ISU to force OT. They won't play that well again and KU won't play that bad again.

Mar 12, 2017 11:40 PM #167

@Bwag said:

Syracuse has one of the top journalism schools in the country and there's a lot of non-athlete on air personalities at the major networks that graduated from there so there's an inherent media bias with Syracuse because Syracuse produced many media members .

Mar 12, 2017 11:56 PM #168

@Texas-Hawk-10 I'm starting to agree. We got the easiest 2 seed of all.

Lookint at MSt Record and see no good wins. They may not even make it past Miami.

If they make it to the Elite 8, I Like the chances of getting to the FF

Mar 13, 2017 12:16 AM #169

@Blown Miami/Michigan State is going to be tough. Assuming we get out of the first weekend, Purdue/Iowa State is even tougher. I like Iowa State to win and get to the Sweet Sixteen. We do have the revenge factor, but if our defense doesnt step up, we will lose.

Mar 13, 2017 12:16 AM #170

@Blown It has been a while since we beat Michigan State. The usually get away with everything against us.

Mar 13, 2017 12:18 AM #171

We are the Number 1 Seed in our bracket. If we play like it and stay out of foul trouble, I like our chances. We are Kansas!!!

Mar 13, 2017 12:20 AM #172

@CRH107 Oh yeah....Many whiners argued that Dook should've been a #1 seed since they played 2-3 games and won their conf tourney.

The conf tourneys are not meant to determine much. They definitely DO NOT determine #1 seeds. The committee did the right thing. They looked at the overall conference body of play for each of the 1 seeds and chose their #1 seeds. Dook's overall body of play DID NOT make the cut. I'm so sick of people arguing that if a team wins 2-3 games in their conf tourneys they deserve a high seed.

BTW- Let's hope the Deacons get in over the Purple Pussies. Manning and his Deacons deserve it more than KSuck.

Mar 13, 2017 12:22 AM #173

@Texas-Hawk-10 I actually think Drew and his boys could beat Dook. We are talking Drew against Rat Face.

Mar 13, 2017 12:24 AM #174

@BeddieKU23 Baylor does have a tendency to disappear this time of year. Baylor's success will depend a great deal on the other coach's X and O ability. Drew will not fair well against a good X and O coach.

Mar 13, 2017 12:27 AM #175

Does everyone forget that it took Iowa St. setting a new school record for 3 point FG's made just to force that AFH game to OT? It took a record setting performance for ISU combined with KU playing one of their worst halves of the year to force OT. That's not very likely to happen again.

Mar 13, 2017 12:28 AM #176

@BeddieKU23 I wonder if we could've won our conf tourney if our overall 1 seed would've been cake? I doubt it. We all saw the potential seeds in the bracket for the last 2-3 wks during our overall 1 seed. It looked hellish. In fact, the argument is the South region is the strongest bracket.

Dook and UNC getting a lot of love coming from "the strongest league" in the nation. Yet, we beat UK and Dook. But many are excusing Dook's early half of the season with all their poor unfortunate circumstances with injuries and their coach being out too. Piss on the ACC and all but 1-2 will drop out early after the first 2-3 rounds.

Mar 13, 2017 12:31 AM #177

@KansasComet Not this year for MSU. Unless Izzo can pull a Spartan rabbit out of his hat, this is not MSU's year. JJ plays against friends if that's the case.

ESPN has Nova and Dook in the Elite 8. Wow, what bold predictions. Gawd, I hope the boyz show up and play their game.

Mar 13, 2017 12:32 AM #178

@truehawk93

4 days changed a lot of things for how people are perceiving Duke. It was impressive they won 4 games in 4 days against good teams. Our lasting impression wasn't great which is why we are kind of not being talked about. Had we taken care of business we would have been the unquestioned #1 overall seed.

Mar 13, 2017 12:33 AM #179

@KansasComet I like the small sacrifice of losing that nasty overall #1 seed and getting some extra time to work some areas. I like the rest it gave our guys. I really think Dook tanks sooner than many realize. They can't keep up the pace after playing like hell against UNC and the end of their year. Many of these teams, ISU included, will be gassed. I like our fresh chance.

Mar 13, 2017 12:34 AM #180

@truehawk93 I am with you all the way. I just hope they don't become a cinderella story at our expense.

Mar 13, 2017 12:38 AM #181

@KansasComet I do respect Izzo. Has nothing but love and respect for the KU program and Self. He is one of those Xs and Os coaches that can work magic. But his team seems to lack something this year. For example, that Valentine team was nasty. He willed that team during many games. They don't have a real Valentine type of player. They are good, but not Valentine good. It will even be with a Magic Johnson pep talk too.

Mar 13, 2017 12:41 AM #182

There is nothing in between now. Crimson and Blue all the way to Phoenix. There is no other option.

ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK GO KU

Mar 13, 2017 12:42 AM #183

@truehawk93 If they lose to Miami, we won't have to worry about it.

Mar 13, 2017 12:44 AM #184

@BeddieKU23 Exactly. It took that horrible pressure off the boyz to prepare. They still have respect, but still have a NC to prove.

Mar 13, 2017 12:45 AM #185

I choose to look at the osu game when we had the whole team together in a place we haven't played well in 3 years.

Mar 13, 2017 12:46 AM #186

@KansasComet Miami is one of those B12 type teams too. It will be interesting. We should come out on top.

Mar 13, 2017 12:47 AM #187

@Crimsonorblue22 Great point! Jackson didn't play against TCU and Graham got hurt. If we don't get a foul with 2 seconds left.....how many people think we lose to TCU in overtime?

Mar 13, 2017 12:48 AM #188

@Crimsonorblue22 I REALLY think that OSU win was bigger than many realize. It broke a losing stigma. They proved a little something to themselves that other teams could not do over the years.

Mar 13, 2017 12:52 AM #189

@truehawk93

I just hope Jackson shows up when we need him too. It was clear without him on the floor this team would not come close to 28 wins this season. We are relying on a freshman being a key part of our end of the season.

Mar 13, 2017 12:54 AM #190

@BeddieKU23 relied on him all year! He's steadily improved.

Mar 13, 2017 12:56 AM #191

Remember when at the beginning of the season many in this board were calling UK overrated and that once they played Michigan State the perception would change? Well, UK spanked them by 21 and MSU never quite recovered while UK is. #2 seed. Michigan State is a middle of the pack team in the Big 10 which is having a down year.

Mar 13, 2017 01:00 AM #192

@wissox I watched the second half of the Wisconsin and Michigan game. Do the Badgers normally play like they did today? I saw no real offensive scheme. It was all dribble, dribble, dribble, pound, pound, pound. If it wasn't their guards dribbling around outside it was the center pounding the ball to back his man down. It seemed as if the whole team had velcro on their hands.

Mar 13, 2017 01:01 AM #193

@Crimsonorblue22

Different in the tourney as we know. I'm sure he'll be eager to please after what happened recently. Without his production we know what happens.

Its BIFM time

Mar 13, 2017 01:01 AM #194

The Jayhawks lost their Big 12 tournament opener to TCU without suspended star Josh Jackson. Kansas missed out on a chance to get revenge on Iowa State in the conference tournament, but might get another crack at the Cyclones in the Sweet 16.

The Cyclones, the 5-seed in the Midwest, beat Kansas in overtime in Lawrence in February and closed the regular season with nine wins out of 10. They'll have to get past Nevada and possibly Purdue for a trip to the regional semifinals. - ESPN

I was reading the WVU ISU thread the other night. There was a butt sore Clown fan arguing against KU and get this....he was even bitching about how KU would've won if they played them in the B12 tourney due to Bill Self having the refs in his back pocket. He even bitched about how Huggie tried to put the refs in his back pockets, but his team proved KU and WVU wrong. What was even more funny, the foul ratio wasn't that skewed.

Sad how fans have to depend on the officials to win or blame for losing a game.

Mar 13, 2017 01:06 AM #195

@CRH107 believe bill may be tied (6-6?) head to head with izzo. But for a 82% winner, I guess that does count as crypotonite.

Mar 13, 2017 01:10 AM #196

This is like a WET DREAM for me!

We probably get MSU in game 2? Maybe the Clones in game 3? Maybe Oregon or Louisville in game 4?

I'm cool with all of it! Can we really complain about that?

Mar 13, 2017 01:11 AM #197

@approxinfinity Isn't Self only 1-4 against Izzo at KU?

Mar 13, 2017 01:12 AM #198

Just saw our bracket, we could have done a lot worse! Not happy about playing one of the few coaches who always seem to out coach Self in the second round, but once we get past Izzo, I like our path to the FF.

Time for our guys to show off the goods on the big stage, can't wait!

Mar 13, 2017 01:15 AM #199

@truehawk93

I like most of the teams in the Big 12. But a couple of the teams (Clones and Mildcats) have ridiculous fan bases. Too many crack pipes makes a fan base crazy. They start thinking outrageous thoughts just because they win a game or two.

Mar 13, 2017 01:17 AM #200

Ha.... I'm loving it.

WSU vs Kentucky.

I am psyched for this potential game.

Also Gonzaga potentially facing WVU? Are you kidding me? Ha! Brilliant!

Purple Kitties vs Danny Manning? Danny gets another shot at the kitties. Awesome!

Duke vs Nova? Ha. So one of these teams goes home before the FF, guaranteed!

Mar 13, 2017 01:19 AM #201

@approxinfinity Again, I think the OSU win is a krypto breaker. I think the krypto curse is off, even if KU faces MSU. I have Miami over MSU. I do think Miami gets the edge over a young unproven MSU team. I have Purdue over ISU. ISU doesn't have the coaching at this level. They have the talent, but in the end, the B12 tourney took a lot out of them. I will be a little surprised if they get passed Nevada. I have KU and L'ville slugging it out in the E8. The Oregon L'ville game will be a good one. I think L'ville has the edge over the Pac12. I'd like to see a Nova KU rematch from last year.

I went over the ESPN tourney challenge and I was surprised at some of my picks.

Mar 13, 2017 01:23 AM #202

Is someone setting up the buckets brackets challenge this year? Also we play Friday @ 5:50 CT.

Mar 13, 2017 01:24 AM #203

@kjayhawks 5:50 Central time

Mar 13, 2017 01:26 AM #204

@drgnslayr 😳💦💧

Mar 13, 2017 01:27 AM #205

@approxinfinity

I believe Self is 2-4 in the KU era against Izzo which to me makes this coaching match-up more problematic given Self's overall 82% win rate. But please correct me if I am wrong.

Mar 13, 2017 01:28 AM #206

@CRH107 selfs due!🔥🔥🔥

Mar 13, 2017 01:29 AM #207

@truehawk93

Was just getting ready to post almost identical to yours. I too think that when Bill won at OSU, the old voodoo spells are falling by the wayside. And I too give the edge to Miami so we may not even see Izzo.

I see Purdue and ISU a toss up, and will be interested to see how your "B12 tourney taking a lot of them" stands up... both for them and conversely, how much it helps us to be rested and ready. And once agree with you, Oregon L'ville is going to be great, but KU takes L'ville down. And once last agreement - a Nova KU rematch will be awesome and paybacks are going to be hell for them!

Mar 13, 2017 01:29 AM #208

@CRH107 Did we lose the last one? If so, you're right. Well, this is the year to kick his ass when he's down.

Mar 13, 2017 01:29 AM #209

@approxinfinity last one was when BG threw a fit. Chicago

Mar 13, 2017 01:32 AM #210

@StLJhawk ISU has that BU tendency. They reach a certain point and they just fizzle. The magic is gone at this point. They just don't have the endurance in the tourney.

Mar 13, 2017 01:36 AM #211

@kjayhawks Here we go! Bracket Challenge!

Possible 2nd round game with Michigan State could be pretty tight. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Mar 13, 2017 01:57 AM #215

Congrats to Danny Manning. It's been 7 long years since Wake Forest has been in the Tournament. Beating Louisville and Miami towards the end is what did it. Congrats to Dooley, and Jankovich. Obi 1 Self has taught you well.. Joe Dooley will be offered lots of $ if he wants to leave Paradise.

Mar 13, 2017 01:57 AM #216

@Texas-Hawk-10 I agree, could be a lot worse - -I really think it's going to boil down to KU- Louisville - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

I have to believe and think as well as others MAN they screwed Wichita State, I'm sorry say what you want that IS NOT a # 10 seed. - -that's laughable like Jay Bilas said whats goin to happen with them seeding them like that look out. - -Could be a very interesting re-match possible 2nd round Kentucky - -Wichita State and I kind of like Wichita State I just do - -Kentucky is on and off - - Call me crazy I wanna keep my eye on that game - - Wichita State pretty deep bench - -Got some nice height - -we shall see. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Mar 13, 2017 02:05 AM #218

well we play early Friday 5:50 at night think I like the early game time to rest afterwards - -of course we got to win this 1st one first - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Mar 13, 2017 02:07 AM #219

@sfbahawk The Badgers had a key injury to Bronson Koenig a month ago and they lost 5 of 6, playing exactly like you saw in the 2nd half today. He got healthier, and they finished the season strong. 1st half was ugly today too, but a late run put us in good shape, and then you nailed it, just played about as ugly a half as could be. I don't know what happened. Since that game ended so close to the brackets being released I'm guessing the result wouldn't have helped UW much as Michigan only got a 7 seed despite winning 4 in a row win the tournament.

For the record, I'm still really pissed about the Badgers poor treatment, but satisfied with the most important team, KU!

Mar 13, 2017 02:17 AM #220

Was just watching a video on espn on how to predict the winners of the Big Dance.

http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/18893727/players-teams-watch-ncaa-tournament-region-region ↗

The numbers are pretty strong indicators... sure hope they are wrong about defensive efficiency this year, but have to admit, it does make sense.

Spoiler alert, it has Kensucky to win it all. Screw that. We play all 40 minutes with good defense for the next six games and we cut down the nets.

Defense wins dances...

Mar 13, 2017 02:48 AM #221

Wow. Corey Alexander is the dumbest person I've ever heard on the Selection Sunday show.

He said, in quick succession:
* He's picking Miama to beat us.
* Miami's backcourt is better than ours.
* The ACC is the best conference.
* How did Duke have 7 losses if it isn't the best conference?
* Kansas just lost to TCU didn't they?
* Anyone can beat anyone. That's what March Madness is all about.

... So they picked Miami over Kansas. :hurtrealbad: click

Mar 13, 2017 03:04 AM #222

Also, their highlight reel of all teams throughout season showed us briefly losing to TCU, a team that isn't even in the tournament. That was our only clip. No WVU comeback. No JJ dunking on the baseline against Kentucky. No Frank Mason dagger against Duke.

At least Kara Lawson (I think that's her name?) gave us some love, picked us to win it all.

Mar 13, 2017 03:04 AM #223

Lunardi got 5 match-ups correct out of the first round. Why do people pay attention to that guy and worry about his bracket predictions?

Mar 13, 2017 03:09 AM #224

@DanR I equate him to the ground hog

Mar 13, 2017 03:10 AM #225

Here comes the Wichita news on wsu

Mar 13, 2017 03:13 AM #226

Interesting bit if we face UC Davis Friday, their coach Jim Les was head coach of Bradley in 06 when they beat us first round. I think they will lose to NCCU anyway. Hopefully we come out ready after a loss and 9 days to think about it. Get up big and Tyler Self scores his first points in the NCAAs while starters rest.

Mar 13, 2017 03:30 AM #227

@approxinfinity He's a big MOUTH :open_mouth: :punch: Miami is not even ranked in the top 25. How much of a moron can you be to bet against a team that wins in what is arguably the toughest conference for the 13th consecutive year? The idiot is arguing against what many other better known critics have tried to do and learned not to after Self has proven the pundits wrong. They don't bet against KU. KU isn't out until the FAT LADY sings :musical_note:
Let him open his mouth and insert his foot. KU has achieved more with less and has proven themselves to be totally competitive in some really tough games. Also, they bring one of the most experienced teams into the tourney. If people think the TCU loss defines KU's season? They are truly stupid.

He obviously hasn't seen KU's BPI, RPI, SOR, and SOS. KU is ranked in the top 10 in the nation statistically. Miami's SOS is #17 and KU is #12. All others are a distant prayer compared to KU. It is March Madness, but Miami is nothing compared to KU.

Mar 13, 2017 03:58 AM #228

Based on true seeds, KU has the easiest path to the Final Four. Louisville is the weakest 2 seed (8th overall), Purdue is the weakest 4 seed (16th overall), Iowa St. is the weakest 5 seed (20th overall), Creighton is the weakest 6 seed (24th overall), Michigan is the 2nd weakest 7 seed (27th overall), and Michigan St. is the 2nd weakest 9 seed (37th overall).

Oregon is the strongest 3 seed (9th overall), but the reality is they're probably the weakest 3 seed with Chris Boucher's injury factored in. Miami is the 2nd strongest 8 seed (30th overall), but they're one of the most offensively challenged teams in the field.

So according to the NCAA Selection Committee, we have the weakest 2, 4, 5, and 6 seeds and the 2nd weakest 7 and 9 seeds.

Here's the Wikipedia for the true seeds https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_NCAA_Division_I_Men%27s_Basketball_Tournament#Tournament_seeds ↗
