Bagley was unimpressive; probably costed him a couple of spots in the draft and Millions of $.

Nick Bradford: I was lucky enough to witness the speech/chewing out of Self to his players at the 120 yr KU Basketball Reunion Banquet. Guys have played at different level ever since, it was amazing to hear then & now see their response over the last month & half

That may go down in championship lore. I think this team really embarrassed Coach in that loss to OSU. He probably reiterated that it is about more than just this team, that its about the program. PRIDE!

It looked to me that Duke had plenty of plays set up for Bagley down low. But Svi's defense and our rotations to cut off a clear pass to him was exceptional.

I can remember a play out of a timeout they had a play set for Bagley down low. Except Svi fronted him with physicality and cut him off from getting position. Duke switched to the 2nd part of this play which was a ball screen for Trent to come off to the top of the key which he nailed an open 3. This play was meant for Bagley and they got a 3 out of it instead.

Bagley for all of his talent will need to put on significant strength in the NBA. Svi while giving up height and athleticism was able to body him a bunch off his spot. Svi played about as flawless defense as you can expect. Even when Bagley got the ball at the top of the key Svi correctly overplayed to his dominate left hand and Bagley rarely tried to get by him off the dribble. Svi played the best defense of his life Sunday.

This effort absolutely reminds me of how Perry Ellis was neutralized against Nova in the Elite 8 two years ago.

@BShark Take a careful look at the guy on the right. He is a perfect duplicate in both pics. Same folds in his shirt, same line in his neck, same collar or hood, same position of every single shadow in his clothing. Even the same dots on the edge of his arm, with some lightening. Also true of the person on the left. Exact same vertical line to the shoulder, same position of instrument relative to clothes. And except of the increased brightness, our center musician has the same streaks in her hair, same shadows above her to the left.

It's probably the same people. There are some differences that I see.

Photoshop is funny because you can get caught up in little things and miss major goofs. Had a photo digital editing & repairing business for a few years after retiring. I took the photos at my sister-in-law's beach wedding and did lots of editing to get a vendor out of the background of the picture of their first kiss. Accidentally moved a lock of her hair so it looked like it was sprouting right out of her back. She thought I did it on purpose!

Marcus Smart is one of the few players that you have to watch in order to understand why he plays despite being so inefficient offensively. Smart is one of the best defenders in the league. Not only because he has the physical skills, but also because he is one of the smartest defensive players in the league. Almost never out of position, either one on one or off the ball.

I hate that he flops because he is so positionally sound it takes away from the aesthetic beauty of his defensive work. He's a nightmare to go up against. Because he's so strong, he can guard bigger guys without giving up anything - you can't post him because he simply cannot be moved on the block by most guys.

Add to that the fact that although he's a poor shooter, he can handle the basketball, drive, pass and is a very good cutter. That still makes him a below average offensive player, but he's an elite defensive player, so it balances out on the positive side.

The cutesy factor here is that each group is from the same draft class.

No draft class in the last 10 year or more is touching Bron/Melo/Wade. Hell you might be able to take the three best guys from the last 10 years like you basically did (though damn, Durant is old now and just out of that 10 year window) and it would be much more interesting.

Even if you play this game right now with Wade in a wheelchair I don't think this is close lol. Old Melo would still abuse Tatum.

Lol that LeBron took the sorriest team in history to the NBA Finals... I'd take him, Mo Williams and Anderson Verejao against them lol.

LeBron is considered a top 5 player of all time by most people. Wade is probably the 3rd best shooting guard of all time behind Jordan and Bryant. And it's very difficult for me to say anything nice about Anthony...

It would also help me personally with my "in-house" family "discussions" split between KU and Duke.

Last... I just think Coach K is over-rated. Granted, he has earned my respect for working his butt off over the years, including outside of the Duke campus... but can someone show me what exactly he has brought to D1? Special defenses/offenses? His game is a bit drab...

What has helped Duke get to the top is their administrative branch. Imagine if the KU/Duke situation was flipped around and Zion had played for Kansas while Duke was being investigated for trying to lubricate Zion to go to Duke.... you don't think Kansas would be under a microscope right now on that one?

It feels like Duke is less of a blue blood and more of just a flat out monopoly!

@wissox Agree that MSU should probably be an "on the cusp team" in that list. I feel like Indiana was once a blueblood and still just backsliding from there so I'd have them closer to the good programs compared to the great...

Crazy thing is, even if Nova were to win it all this year I don't think that bumps them up to the top of this list. They only have 6 final fours total. Kansas has the fewest on that blueblood line with 16! That's the big difference. And even if Nova keeps piling up final fours, unless the current blue bloods STOP making it (see Indiana) how will they EVER catch up?

Nova is tied in Final fours with the following schools: Arkansas, Cincinnati, Houston, Michigan, Oklahoma State, Syracuse. They are behind: Michigan State (10), Ohio State (10), Indiana (8), Louisville (8). So yeah, I'd say MSU is closer to a blue blood than Nova... Plus they are in the Champions Classic. Blue blood isn't any official title or anything, just perception. And playing with Duke, KU, and Kentucky every year helps that perception.

That St Peter's game and KU passing UK on the all-time wins list was pretty painful to UK. The top 25 wins stat was just salt in the wound.

I empathize with the fans a bit, but honestly can't feel too bad for them because I remember the 70s and early 80s when KU was up and down.. and often mediocre. Some disappointing moments hurt to this day. I particularly remember listening to Max on the radio in 1977 when we played #1 Kentucky in AFH. KU was supposed to be a contender for the championship and have a shot to go deep in the tournament. We had a chance to make a statement that day, but the way we lost seemed to confirm that we still weren't at that level.

This moment has been a long time coming.

Well they are some right to a point. We get the chance of more ranked wins because of our conference, just goes to show how tough our conference is. - Then just shows how big our N - - - - are by winning those game - -KU really tough to Beat Our Conference petty dam tough it'sslf. - Really is kind of surprising the distance between us and Duke @ 2nd.

10 Years doesn't even include that ridiculously good 08 Defense. In fact, haven't we been complaining that KU defense hasn't been as great in recent years?

@benshawks08 Only 18 was "bad" defensively (only by Self standards really, as it was still top 50) and that team made a final four. Worst Self KU team overall has been the one preceding the current title team and it's not particularly close if you are looking at metrics.

Each of those teams has been a tough out in the tournament.
