KU VOLLEYBALL FINAL FOUR!
Dec 13, 2015 02:49 PM #1

I started watching the Jayhawk Volleyball team this year to counterbalance what the football team was doing. The games have all been sellout's attended by many on the Basketball team which have been tweeting about their exploits as they too have become fans. I took a long nap yesterday so I was able to stay up after one o'clock to watch the Jayhawks who were facing three elimination points in a rare 5 set match. They scored six straight points to make it to the Final Four. They beat the #1 seed USC, whose coach has been in 10 FF's and has won three of those. The San Diego Arena was packed with Jayhawk fans.

Congrats! My daughter was a great high school player and it has been a very satisfying year. Recruits are going to start saying yes to KU.

Flipping awesome!!! Go Hawks!

I DVRd since the 11:30 EST start time was too late for me. Watched it this morning. Even though I new they would win, when they were down 13-9 in the last set, I couldn't see how it would be possible..
Great comeback!

They beat Loyola and USC in their own backyard in San Diego and now they get to play Nebraska in Omaha and hopefully a final rematch with Texas for all the marbles...the third one is a charm...

@wrwlumpy Silly talking heads said Kansas will have to battle a Nebraska crowd. Guess they failed geography.

Dec 16, 2015 12:10 AM #12

@brooksmd Well, a pro-Nebraska crowd anyway.

Watched a replay of the USC match. Great comeback against a team that looked like they had all the momentum going into the final set.

Last night I talked with a friend who used to play volleyball for Stanford. She was stunned to hear that USC got knocked out, given the Pac-12's reputation as the dominant conference in the country. KU almost ended up facing Washington in the Final Four (another former national champ from the Pac=12 who couldn't get past Nebraska).

@nwhawkfan

Interesting, If you drive down from the University of Minnesota to the University of Nebraska to the University of Kansas and finally to the University of Texas, you have almost straight North-South line through the Heart of America....so much about the West and Eats Coast having the best teams.

Dec 16, 2015 06:54 AM #14

@JayHawkFanToo These things run in cycles...Nebraska and Texas have had strong programs for quite a while now, Penn State even longer. But if you look at the tournament history, the Pac=12/10/8 have been the deepest conference over the years.

Good to see KU and some of the other teams make their mark, though...it's better for the sport that way.

It's a tough ticket to get up here in Omaha. Wife's boss is a season ticket holder to Nebraska volleyball, they got their 4 back in September, but when they applied for 4 more they were put on a very long waiting list.
The lower bowl has no seats available online at the centrylink center as of Monday.
Should be 17,000 plus fans there Thursday. 80% probably in red. That's the way it was a few years back when it was hosted by Creighton in the same building.

I saw somewhere were Kansas is 0-83 versus Nebraska in VB. They are due for a win!!!!!!

Rock Chalk Jayhawk

On a side note, if KU wins Thursday, there will be tickets available for Saturdays game, not a lot though. People up here love their Volleyball.

I like our chances to win it all!

And this can do nothing but help our basketball team. We've already experienced the Royals domination and how their attitudes (chip and team cohesion) made that all happen.

@drgnslayr will we tear down the goal posts again-see World Series?

Dec 16, 2015 05:05 PM #21

@Crimsonorblue22

Football? We will win a National Championship in football?

You just gave me an idea for a new thread...

@drgnslayr I meant the students tore the the posts down after the royals win, they might do the same for the kuvb team.

Dec 17, 2015 07:32 PM #24

@Crimsonorblue22 If the athletic dept has any brains they've already taken the goals down and put them in storage somewhere.

Dec 17, 2015 07:37 PM #25

@brooksmd HAHAHAHAHAHA. If they have any brains HAHAHAHAHAHA

Dec 17, 2015 07:50 PM #26

@JRyman hey!!!

Hey what??

Dec 17, 2015 07:53 PM #27

@Crimsonorblue22 sorry about that. Didn't mean to edit your post. Just quote and add my own.

Largest number of fans they will have played in front of tonight. Most of them from Nebraska. They had a great turnout in San Diego against USC.
