Better late than never...anyone on?

Interesting starting line up.

Dec 19, 2015 07:49 PM #2

50% from the field and 44% from 3 with Greene leading the way at 3/3 from 3.

Dec 19, 2015 07:49 PM #3

@Bwag Yes, did Greene start? I was a couple of minutes late and couldn't figure out why Graham was on the bench.

Dec 19, 2015 07:50 PM #4

@tundrahok Yes. Mickelson and Greene both started.

Dec 19, 2015 07:51 PM #5

@Bwag Why did Greene start? Any speculation?

Dec 19, 2015 07:51 PM #6

11 have played in the first half. Don't know if that tells us anything about what the rest of the season.

Dec 19, 2015 07:53 PM #7

@tundrahok I don't know. I was trying to listen to the 610 radio broadcast from down in Arkansas (not real clear). Accomodating a change to a shooting team like HEM post has been discussing?

Dec 19, 2015 07:55 PM #8

@Bwag I wondered if Graham was hurt or had been naughty, but he's getting plenty of minutes now.

Dec 19, 2015 07:55 PM #9

@Bwag Where in Arkansas are ya?

Dec 19, 2015 07:56 PM #10

@globaljaybird Almost in the state of Misery. Northwest Arkansas.

Dec 19, 2015 07:57 PM #11

Lunch break almost over-have we shot many treys?

Dec 19, 2015 07:58 PM #12

@Bwag Bettinville? Rogers?

That's where my dad lives these days.

Dec 19, 2015 07:58 PM #13

@globaljaybird We're 4-10. Greene 3-3. Selden 0-4 but otherwise has looked pretty good.

Dec 19, 2015 07:59 PM #14

@tundrahok thanks...

Dec 19, 2015 07:59 PM #15

@globaljaybird I'm a Kansan, but that's why I'm rooting so for Mickelson...all the Ark fans down here were badmouthing him when he left their program, I predicted to them that Self would make something of him. Hoping that comes true, even if CD and CB both come on strong...

Dec 19, 2015 07:59 PM #16

Dg not starting will be addressed after game. Couldn't be to bad since he's playing. Right? Vick is sick.

Dec 19, 2015 08:00 PM #17

Seldens D has been great!

Dec 19, 2015 08:04 PM #18

Perry 3/6 FG and 8/8 FT. Leading the team in scoring w/ 14.

Greene 3/3 from 3 pt land for 9 pts.

Other than that, lots of scoring spread out amongst 7 others.

Dec 19, 2015 08:04 PM #19

Not a huge fan of Graham chucking up all these shots this year. He isn't their first, second, or third option.

Dec 19, 2015 08:08 PM #20

Greene is now 11 of 13 or 12 of 14 from 3 on the year? Some guys cannot make layups at that clip. You pretty much have to let him get shots..I like that Self gave him the start.

Although he did a few boneheaded things, man is he long, and tall, and active. He is not just standing around, he is hustling.

I am impressed with Self in this situation, he could have just buried him in the doghouse and told the kid to transfer, instead he is giving him and opportunity to show he belongs out there.

Dec 19, 2015 08:10 PM #21

BG is the best shooter in KU uniform at least in in Self era

Dec 19, 2015 08:13 PM #22

Selden just posted up...

Dec 19, 2015 08:14 PM #23

I said in another thread, if our bigs are not doing it, use our tall and long guards as back to the basket scorers !

Dec 19, 2015 08:18 PM #24

Bragg doing a great posting up job

Dec 19, 2015 08:19 PM #25

Bragg on the low of the post entry pass...

Dec 19, 2015 08:19 PM #26

I don't know how we keep these guys happy w/playing time. Guess it will be easier w/better teams.

Dec 19, 2015 08:22 PM #27

60 points and only 1 person in double digits

Dec 19, 2015 08:23 PM #28

Way to run the floor! Pretty sweet

Dec 19, 2015 08:24 PM #29

@Bwag I'm tryin to watch on the watch ESPN app but it's awful! Thx Zenger

Dec 19, 2015 08:24 PM #30

Wow!! Great pass!

Dec 19, 2015 08:25 PM #31

@Bwag Really, no ball hogs on this team - very unselfish - ball doesn't "stick" as HCBS has often complained about. Best passing team in many years. Many fewer stupid, lazy pass TOs that past few years. Fun to watch when they open it up....

Dec 19, 2015 08:25 PM #32

@Crimsonorblue22

Do u have time warner?

Dec 19, 2015 08:25 PM #33

@Bwag said:

60 points and only 1 person in double digits

At 64 points, our 2nd player broke into double digits. Seldon with 10. Think he 4 at half.

Dec 19, 2015 08:26 PM #34

Was that a half court lob pass on the run from Seldon to Bragg? Wow.

Dec 19, 2015 08:27 PM #35

@VailHawk cox cable, they have time warner or Jayhawk network. Great pre and post game too.

Dec 19, 2015 08:27 PM #36

@Bwag

That HAS to be a top play on sc tonite bc of him landing on top of defenders shoulders!!!

Dec 19, 2015 08:28 PM #37

Diallo goes to the bench with 4 fouls. Not sure how many minutes.

Dec 19, 2015 08:28 PM #38

@Bwag Selden

Dec 19, 2015 08:28 PM #39

Bragg with one of the most epic dunks I have ever seen. He posterized and Tea-bagged a guy simultaneously off a long feed

Dec 19, 2015 08:28 PM #40

Bragg has looked good all game long - really developing strongly. He will soon be our best low post scoring option, Ellis included. And, when you see them standing side by side, he has at least 2-3 inches on Ellis, plus more hop and longer arms.

Dec 19, 2015 08:28 PM #41

I'm sooooo happy the WUG Selden is playing this year! I honestly thought the summer could have been an anomaly....but it appears not

Dec 19, 2015 08:29 PM #42

Selden playing pt?

Dec 19, 2015 08:29 PM #43

Greene with a drive and in traffic, finishing at the rim.

Dec 19, 2015 08:29 PM #44

Svi, Greene & Selden on the floor at the same time. Don't see that often.

Dec 19, 2015 08:29 PM #45

SVI w a beautiful pass!!!

Dec 19, 2015 08:29 PM #46

@DCHawker doesn't have Ellis's moves though, yet

Dec 19, 2015 08:30 PM #47

Oops it was BG to SVI!!!

Dec 19, 2015 08:30 PM #48

Is it just me, or have we only shot 12 3ptas with 11:18 to go?

Dec 19, 2015 08:30 PM #49

@VailHawk was shocking!

Dec 19, 2015 08:31 PM #50

@Crimsonorblue22 Agree, but he may still be more capable of scoring against L&A guys even now.

Dec 19, 2015 08:31 PM #51

@jaybate-1.0

It's just you

Dec 19, 2015 08:31 PM #52

@jaybate-1.0 lots of inside today, a lot of pts off of D and transition

Dec 19, 2015 08:33 PM #53

BTW, Creighton has just closed to within 1 of OU in Norman.

Dec 19, 2015 08:33 PM #54

Wonder if Dg was late? Started 2nd half, not exactly a trouble maker!

Dec 19, 2015 08:33 PM #55

LL w the dunk!!! He should start

Dec 19, 2015 08:34 PM #56

@DCHawker I heard Duke lost? And WSU lost in ot. Saw cf hit 2 3's. Didn't see much.

Dec 19, 2015 08:34 PM #57

Hmmm.

Perry is having his usually strong game against a cupcake.

And fortunately Composite 5 is steady at 17pts and 12 rebounds.

Composite 5 for All American!!!!!!!

Composite 5 is the one thing we can count on game in and game out.

Composite 5 is the center piece of the team--the hub around which everything revolves.

Dec 19, 2015 08:35 PM #58

@jaybate-1.0

Have you ever been accused of hyperbole?

Dec 19, 2015 08:36 PM #59

Jesse's got us at 1.42 PPP

Dec 19, 2015 08:36 PM #60

@Crimsonorblue22 Saw some of both games - overlapped. Utah tried hard to give it away at the end with a couple of bone-head plays, but held on. Basically a road game for WSU and SH is pretty good - wouldn't have been a bad loss except they had too many already with FVV out. Frankamp looked okay.

Dec 19, 2015 08:36 PM #61

Wayne is back in the unconcentration function.

Svi is getting a few points, but no reebs again.

Cheick is Cheick at 4 PFs. He gets the Tarrick Award for early season fouling.

Dec 19, 2015 08:37 PM #62

@Bwag

That would be a good # to average in six madness games

Dec 19, 2015 08:38 PM #63

Devonte trying to get back into the starting lineup, but that 4-7 FGAs with two TOs is not making the case definitively.

Dec 19, 2015 08:39 PM #64

What happened to Hunter? Got a start but then got the cryo ice? Or did he get injured. I have tuned in late.

Dec 19, 2015 08:40 PM #65

Looks like maybe Self told Frank to dial it back and work on dishing out the assists to get some of his mates sharpened up against the cupcake.

Dec 19, 2015 08:41 PM #66

@jaybate-1.0

LL owns Montana!!!

Dec 19, 2015 08:42 PM #67

Weird line-up for a minute there - Svi and BG as guards.

Dec 19, 2015 08:42 PM #68

With 7:35 to go we are at 14 3ptas. Sounds about right for who we are. And it works as usual.

Dec 19, 2015 08:43 PM #69

@DCHawker did he play much? Didn't think he got in first half.

Dec 19, 2015 08:43 PM #70

Great hustle Mari!

Dec 19, 2015 08:43 PM #71

Its possible we could come in at 16 3ptas again. But I am thinking we may get to 18-20 to make sure the next good team...no, Hunter back to the basket!!!!!!

Dec 19, 2015 08:44 PM #72

Yes, 15 3ptas, do I hear 16?

Dec 19, 2015 08:44 PM #73

Svi for 3!!!!!

Dec 19, 2015 08:44 PM #74

To bad Vick is sick!

Dec 19, 2015 08:45 PM #75

Jam Tray looks like the injury has healed a little.

Dec 19, 2015 08:45 PM #76

@Crimsonorblue22 Didn't see all the first half - not sure how many minutes, but they weren't quiet minutes - definitely had an impact.

Dec 19, 2015 08:45 PM #77

Mickelson on the board, scoring inside. Now Traylor needs to score for everyone that's played so far to contribute.

Dec 19, 2015 08:45 PM #78

Svi showing some point guard feet there

Dec 19, 2015 08:47 PM #79

HCBS needs to put the walk ons in

Dec 19, 2015 08:47 PM #80

Perry proving he can go soft baseline even against a cupcake.

Come on designer, this was the kind of game Andrew Wiggins would have hung 40 in to improve his draft stock.

Dec 19, 2015 08:48 PM #81

@VailHawk said:

HCBS needs to put the walk ons in

Probably time.

Dec 19, 2015 08:48 PM #82

This is really a complete performance - while the Griz aren't a great team, or even good, they're not that bad. Lost by just 3 at Gonzaga.

Dec 19, 2015 08:49 PM #83

60% FG
47% 3Pt
81% FT

But, haven't been realy tested much.

Dec 19, 2015 08:50 PM #84

Cheick runs like Wiggins did.

Dec 19, 2015 08:51 PM #85

@jaybate-1.0

Now I've been having some fun here, but this game is evidence that Self really is working on the right thing for this team: the long wings--BG and Svi. He knows Devonte can play, so he used a cup cake to try to tune BG and Svi up. Smart move, Coach Self. Those two guys currently are the guys playing the furtherest from the edges of their envelopes, and so the once that could contribute the greatest incremental improvement, AND justify cutting Frankie's, Wayne's,. and Devonte's minutes.

Dec 19, 2015 08:51 PM #86

Svi with the Euro-move--hesitation crossover one on three

Dec 19, 2015 08:52 PM #87

@jaybate-1.0 Be interesting to see what Graham's issue was that led to not starting. Apparently there was something that will be addressed after the game.

Dec 19, 2015 08:53 PM #88

Loved seeing Brannen trying to get Svi on track

Dec 19, 2015 08:53 PM #89

Its amazing how often we shoot free throws well against crappy teams that don't tax our legs and cardio. 15-18 so far today vs. the Montana Wildhats. (Warning: ancient Kurt Vonnegut allusion.)

Dec 19, 2015 08:55 PM #90

@DCHawker I thought they were awful! 😱

Dec 19, 2015 08:55 PM #91

Hey, we are at 15 3ptas for the game!!!!!!

Its who we are.

Dec 19, 2015 08:55 PM #92

Well, we do lose the scrub game pretty badly....We didn't score in the last 4 minutes. Oh well...

Dec 19, 2015 08:56 PM #93

44 points in both halves.

Dec 19, 2015 08:57 PM #94

@Bwag said:

44 points in both halves.

versus Montana total of 46 points.

Dec 19, 2015 08:58 PM #95

Can't say Cheick developed this game with 4 points and 4 PF's.

Dec 19, 2015 09:00 PM #96

Don't get me wrong.

I can see up to 20 3ptas some games this season (as most prior seasons).

And if we are down 10 with ten to go, I can definitely feel 25 3ptas on our horizon, also (as most prior seasons).

But so far, Coach Self's interesting public profession not withstanding, ummmm, well, there are now two straight bowls of pudding with 16 and now 15 3 ptas, respectively.

I increasingly blame it on Composite 5: 22/20 today.

Dec 19, 2015 09:11 PM #97

@jaybate-1.0 when you run the floor like we did today, it's to easy to score at the bucket. Some pretty assists today too. And... We broke the ugly Christmas sweater record!

Dec 19, 2015 09:12 PM #98

@Bwag how many fouls did he end up w/?

Dec 19, 2015 09:12 PM #99

@jaybate-1.0 Except, that really isn't the composite 5 line - 2 of the 5 were in at the same time. Bragg was in for Ellis for a while.

Dec 19, 2015 09:16 PM #100

@Crimsonorblue22 Diallo fouled out in 10 minutes.

Dec 19, 2015 09:20 PM #101

@tundrahok he reacts a split sec to late.

Dec 19, 2015 09:21 PM #102

Their coach said we figured out to play what they gave us.

Dec 19, 2015 09:32 PM #103

@DCHawker

THAT'S OKAY IF THEY ARE IN AT THE SAME TIME. THAT JUST MEANS WE ARE GOING TO EVEN MORE OF AN INSIDE POWER GAME THAN WITH PERRY, OUR FORMER STRETCH 4 THAT IS NOW REALLY A STRETCH 3 PLAYING 4.

Dec 19, 2015 09:32 PM #104

"I'm progressing a lot and loving the process." - Carlton Bragg on putting on size and growing into a mature ball player #kupostgame

Dec 19, 2015 10:50 PM #105

Had to work, so watched most of the replay. So, our new number 5 is....Carlton Bragg!!!! He fits in better than peas and carrotts, i tell ya.

Dec 19, 2015 10:51 PM #106

@jaybate-1.0 We've been begging for 3 years for Perry to play the 3.

Dec 19, 2015 11:29 PM #107

Been driving all day, I missed a bunch of 3's maybe????

Dec 20, 2015 12:03 AM #108

@Bwag Thanks for stepping up and getting the chat started. Some of us regulars were displaced today.

Dec 20, 2015 12:10 AM #109

@Bwag We've been wanting to move to Table Rock all this year but house to sell, 2 deaths in immediate family, Yada Yada, still here about 10 miles outside the Overland Park city limits. Maybe we can get there in 2016. I ain't gettin any younger so the clock is tickin...

Dec 20, 2015 12:12 AM #110

@Crimsonorblue22 Grrr, rubs me when people refer to our bench as "scrubs". Those kids work as hard or harder than the starters to get this team to where it is. They may not have the talent but they got a wagon load of "want-to" to bust their butts day in and day out knowing the only minutes they get are at the end of blowout games. And you can see the appreciation from the starters when one of the bench guys makes a bucket. I think @approxinfinity should do something so when somebody uses "scrubs" it should automatically change to "bench".

Dec 20, 2015 12:14 AM #111

;)

Dec 20, 2015 12:33 AM #112

Self said Devonte had a sleep problem and gives him credit for not saying his alarm clock broke. He also said, Devonte is and will be our starting point guard. Coach was almost laughing as he told the story.

Dec 20, 2015 04:40 AM #113

@globaljaybird don't say that!!

Dec 20, 2015 04:41 AM #114

@wrwlumpy don't you think one of his teammates would have woke him up, unless he wasn't there?

Dec 20, 2015 04:54 AM #115

@globaljaybird sounds like a bad go, but good luck ahead!

Dec 20, 2015 01:45 PM #116

@Crimsonorblue22 Then she should have woke him up.

Dec 20, 2015 01:53 PM #117

But then, maybe she did and that's why he was late?

Dec 20, 2015 02:40 PM #118

@wrwlumpy no lump!😱
