Davidson has one of the highest non-Ivy League tuition's in the country. Compare $45,379 Davidson to UNC $8,336. Davidson is situated on lake Norman. Here are some houses that are near the campus on lake Norman.

Lake Norman is also the Party lake for the students at Davidson.

This was the only video that showed the ultimate relief of Bill Self to make it to his first Final Four.

This looks like, on paper, to be the toughest opponent since Duke.

Dec 12, 2016 08:25 PM #19

I believe that it will be pretty close to Stanford or Georgia. Sagarin has Stanford 10 places higher than Davidson with Georgia in between and Ken Pom has Davidson 5 places higher than Davidson and Georgia above both of them, They are all generally ranked in the 50s-60s.

@wrwlumpy Ok, remember how I said my wife tried to help me identify Michelle Phillips on your Long Beach post?

Oddly, she isn't willing to help me identify the Davidson swim partiers!

Dec 12, 2016 11:37 PM #21

@mayjay I wish I knew who they were.

Dec 13, 2016 02:25 AM #22

@wrwlumpy Forget "who?"--"where?" is more important!

Dec 13, 2016 03:52 AM #23

@wrwlumpy Easy to see why the who's who of top NASCAR drivers live around Lake Norman. Especially the young single ones.

Skip to the 2 minute mark where Davidson is behind by 3 to UNC.

Dec 13, 2016 05:22 PM #26

Gibbs might be the twin of Mason. Hard to tell which one is stronger. He's averaging 24.3 pts. a game

Interestingly, when asked on HawkTalk who the greatest 3 college players Self has seen personally, he cited Durant, Danny Manning, and W.Tisdale.

He did not mention that Davidson player from a few yrs ago named Stephen Curry.

Dec 14, 2016 04:40 AM #30

Not sure. Should we guard the stripe on Aldridge and McGarrity? They only average 48% combined from trey. Probably due for an off game. :shit:

Dec 14, 2016 05:44 AM #31

@ralster

All 3 players named accomplished more than Curry. Manning and Durant were named POY, Tisdale was 1st team All American in his freshman and junior years. Manning was a#1 draft pick while Tisdale was #2 behind Ewing and Durant was also #2 behind old man Oden...shades of Bowie-Jordan. Curry won most of his awards in his conference and was selected #7 in the draft.

They must be pretty good - they beat Missouri. !mutley.jpg ↗

Davidson reminds me of Indiana and Stanford with most of it's scoring coming from a talented forward and a talented guard. These three teams show how dangerously competitive teams can be with just two very talented players. They won't win every game, but they are good enough to beat any team on any night.

I assume it will be Jackson and Bragg primarily defending Aldridge and that Mason, Graham and Vick will share the responsibilities on Gibbs. I like our chances. The defensive switches will be critical for us. When other teams have had open looks, it's usually because someone missed a switch, which happens with a young team at the beginning of the season. Now, though, our freshmen should be making huge leaps on defense. I've seen it with Jackson, but not yet with Doke. Even Vick misses defensive assignments.

O degrees predicted in my area for tonight. I can't think of a better way to spend the evening than watching our guys match up with Davidson at the Sprint Center. RCJH

Dec 17, 2016 04:07 PM #35

The more I watch Davidson on film it looks as if Frank will be playing against a mirror image of himself. They are both very talented with the same game except Gibbs takes more threes. All 5 guards are going to get a workout tonight.

Does anybody know whether this game will be blacked out in wichita, or how I could find out?

Dec 17, 2016 10:58 PM #38

going to be a tough game. not sure many think so but we will be in a battle

Dec 17, 2016 11:06 PM #39

Gibbs is all jump shooter. I expect our guards will bite on his clever moves to get open.

Dec 17, 2016 11:08 PM #40

@zayjay espn2, no more blacked out games!!
