@brooksmd Were those the old 2ba carbs that were bad abt vapor lockin? Or were those a couple years later on the V8s? I pushed a couple that got too hot when was a kid but maybe they were 56 or later...that 54 may have been flathead ??

@brooksmd Sadly there are many of those older Chevy, Ford & Dodge trucks that are restored with a large content of foreign aftermarket parts & metal, courtesy of companies like LMC Trucks. Inc. I was an inspector for them for about 2weeks in the years since I retired from GM. Lets just say they didn't really admonish my expectations of higher quality control protocol. Pretty much all I saw there for 2 solid weeks was junk that.I wouldn't have let off the boat. I could not in good conscience participate in such discredit to an American manufacturing heritage. It is not difficult for a trained eye to spot counterfeit auto parts through fit & finish. I say it's not difficult, but it really is a journeyman skill that takes some years to cultivate properly,

@brooksmd I had a white 67 400 GTO w/slotted MT Astros & Hurst turbo hydramatic spit shift trans. Had blue vinyl buckets. Real walnut dash & console, & a Craig AM/FM stereo/8 track with reverb. Friend & I junked out the quadrajet for a 800 dual pump Holley, & took milled 389 heads & bolted them right on. Seems to me the rods were alittle long so we had to change them also, but the head gasket set was the same if I recall. Hows that for brain function when I can hardly remember what I had for lunch yesterday ?
