Sorry @Crimsonorblue22 this really sucks

Jan 22, 2017 05:00 PM #3

This is surreal I had the news on and my stomach dropped. Feel for his family.

Jan 22, 2017 05:00 PM #4

Already being discussed in the Royals thread...

Jan 22, 2017 05:02 PM #5

@JayHawkFanToo Yeah, I though it deserved it's own thread. Esp. since I didn't check the month old thread before I posted.

Jan 22, 2017 05:51 PM #6

May he rest in peace. What a terrible tragedy.

Jan 22, 2017 06:24 PM #7

@dylans this is hard! I was on my way home from Lawrence listening to 610 sports and they were talking royals. Butera was talking about how they were treated like family and gave examples. Meanwhile my youngest son texts me that ace was killed in a wreck. I called him and said that couldn't b cause I was listening to 610, then bam it came on. They were all shocked and some crying-me too of course. Ryan l came on and talked about some of the incidents ace had and explained the last one. Machado(sp?) called ace a flipping feline the inning before. He talked about the coaches and kc never wanted to get rid of ace, wanted to see him grow up w/the royals. The pitching coach thought he would b one of the best. Now we will never see that. 🙏 For his family and his royals family. The good guys always have each other's back! There is a picture of his vehicle w/him laying there. It is sickening! So many people standing around. My son said its looks like nobody tried to help him.

Jan 22, 2017 08:13 PM #8

@Crimsonorblue22 Geez, just saw this on FoxNews. If you remember I wasn't really a big fan of Ace because of temper and would've like to have seen him traded. He had the talent and maybe down the road he could've controlled his temper. Unfortunately we'll never know. Sad day. Prayers to his family. RIP Ace.

Terrible tragedy. May he Rest In Peace.

Report is drinking and driving don't mix.

25, thinking you'll live forever, or at least to see 26

You never think it could end in an instant.

No one should die young and healthy and strong.

RIP Ventura. Gone too soon.

@Crimsonorblue22 Very nice 👍 pic of Old Union Staton in Royal 👑 Blue. The little shit just blew us, & the Giants away in game 6 of 2014 series. Win or go home men. Hard to imagine his flame 🔥 will now be gone. Guess I'm like @drgnslayr - I want a player with that kinda chip & the stuff to back it up.

Jan 23, 2017 04:57 AM #19

Fan Fest will be a tremendous labor for the team next weekend. Spring 🚂 training is set to begin about 2-3 weeks. There's such fragility to this life it's impossible to understand the paradox of living recklessly & sensible. Burning the candle at both ends seems not be an issue to some & others can be incinerated in a ❤️ heartbeat if I had a dollar 💵 for each of the dumb & deadly things I got away with, I could easily buy a few more.rounds. Think I'll have another. But I'm home in the rockin chair-not but not in a Jeep wit no seatbelt. Survived Buicks & Chevys both without restraints but t like I said. No rhyme or reason when the fur stopped flyin...
RIP YV.

i was absolutely crushed when i woke up. I work nights and my wife woke me up while I was sleeping about 11 am and told me and I heard her but didn't hear her. When I actually woke up to get ready for work I saw it and we immediately drove tot he stadium.

@HawkInMizery Just found this copy abt Ace & Marte-very odd coincidence that completely betrays the odds of this happening on the same day in the first place.

@drgnslayr me too! Can't imagine what his family and the royals are going thru. He was so talented, looked forward to see him grow and mature. He added so much excitement to a sometime boring sport. I read he had a wife and daughter. Wear your seat belts!!

Hearing Salvy is struggling with the loss of Ventura almost hurts as bad as the Ventura news. We have never seen a sad side of Salvy. 💔

Jan 24, 2017 02:56 AM #33

@HawkInMizery Just read your stories & wish to compliment you. Well done ✅ my friend. If I were still in KC I'd try to shake your hand 🤚 at FF next week. Have you been able to get your pass yet?

Jan 24, 2017 02:58 AM #34

@Crimsonorblue22 all the feels right now. That picture is so beautifully done

Jan 24, 2017 02:59 AM #35

@Crimsonorblue22 Was there an article about Salvy and his grief or just on his IG page? I'd like to read it.

Jan 24, 2017 03:00 AM #36

@globaljaybird Thank you very much! I really appreciate the feedback. Yup, got my passes, i really like that they let season ticket holders in before everyone else.

Jan 24, 2017 04:55 AM #37

@HawkInMizery I am over 200 mi from the metro but stream news when possible. Sounded like funeral is 9:00am tomorrow w/ many grieving team mates & management personnel to attend. Some of these people, scouts, mgrs, etc., have made YDs journey all the way with him since he was a young & skinny little teenager.. And really tough to show strength under those circumstances in arms with family as I've been through exactly the same time being along side grieving family when all seems lost . It's s an intense & extremely 💥 powerful gut hurt that's almost inexplicable to those who's time has not yet arrived. I hope & pray for those that it never ever does. Some of the darkest days of my life were those when cancer relentlessly destroyed the lives of a family & child that we so dearly loved.

Jan 24, 2017 05:37 AM #38

@HawkInMizery more sickening news, some reports are coming out that ace was alive, but beaten and then robbed, left to die. He could have been helped. WS ring was stolen too.

Jan 24, 2017 05:54 AM #39

@globaljaybird Cancer is a MF'er. I know that feeling all too well my friend. Had a family member who was diagnosed and within 2 months she was gone. You're too right about the powerful gut hurt, especially in inexplicable situations such as this and cancer.

Jan 24, 2017 05:55 AM #40

@Crimsonorblue22 I jsut saw that on facebook. I'm really hoping that isn't true. If someone could have helped him ad chose to rob him instead i might lose all faith in humanity. If true, that's absolutely disgusting.

Jan 24, 2017 03:46 PM #41

@HawkInMizery There are several unconfirmed reports that Ace was found alive then robbed. Under such circumstances & in a small impoverished country as the Dominican, who knows if the truth will ever be known completely. How the hell will someone ever fence a WS ring there? Forgive me if you've seen this, but I found a story on fox pertaining to the execution of his contract & the potential outcome of its details. Sadly this entire ordeal could end up taking a very, very long time to fully play itself out.

Jan 24, 2017 06:55 PM #42

@globaljaybird I'm hoping the Royals will show some class and settle quickly.

Jan 24, 2017 07:08 PM #43

@brooksmd I'm confident they will be classy but honestly, this could even possibly end up as a homicide drawn out for an awful long time. Who knows what type laws, if any, are in place in such circumstances, but not aiding someone injured could easily be a negligent homicide in our own country.. This is just as heartbreaking a tragedy as it can be for the family, friends, & team mates of this young man. No one should have to suffer & die like this. Is just barbaric IMO.

Jan 24, 2017 07:12 PM #44

@globaljaybird this is probably the first time the Jayhawks are not the first team on my mind. I'm pretty sad!

@globaljaybird

If alcohol was involved, the Royals can void the rest of his contract. If it was just an unfortunate accident, the Royals are responsible for the rest of the contract, although the contract itself, or most of it anyway, is insured.

Jan 27, 2017 02:08 AM #51

@JayHawkFanToo insurance
