@wissox Duke is KU's only "good" win. I hope Duke is just in a funk right now, because I have no idea how good KU really is?!? I'm not hanging my hat on the one win, but it'd be nice to see KU beat another good squad, starting tonight.

@dylans You're right. My post was intended at the multiple posts we see about Duke. Grayson this, Grayson that, Duke lost, Coach K did this, did that. I'm kind of tired of seeing crap about Duke on here. If we're playing duke I'll pay attention to Duke. Do we feel inferior to Duke? Is that why we keep bringing them up? I don't know. Are we jealous of them? Maybe?

I know we believe that they receive unfair treatment but, can that really happen? I mean for a conspiracy to happen a lot of people have to be complicit and keep their mouths shut. We've beat Duke 3 of the last 4 times we've played them so the conspirators really screwed that one up, just like they screwed up when they lost to Murray St. or Norfolk or whoever the heck beat them a couple of years ago.

I know I don't have to click on titles that mention Duke. And I'm also guilty. Several weeks ago I put a topic out there (on KUBuckets) about Grayson that was negative, the alleged shove of the FSU coach, or the alleged trip, I forget which at this point (not the real one). 15 minutes later I'm thinking here I am a 52 year old man posting crap about a 2o year old kid. I know he brings on some of the criticism, but goodness, he's a young immature man who will probably grow up into an adult who functions well in our society.

There's nothing wrong with disliking Duke. I dislike them as much as the next person.

Initially, no, although Quin Snyder is actually a very good NBA coach. I think a lot of those guys actually do better once they get some separation from Duke.

@wissox There is no way in Hell I feel inferior to Duke -- but I really love to see them lose, I can't stand that team, - -a lot of the reason I always take the opportunity to belittle Duke is largely due to the way Duke portrays themselves - -they always seem like to me and some others I have talked to they come off with that AGGORANT greater then thou attitude -- so no by far not feeling inferior just love getting the opportunity to take my jab just like many many other Duke haters HUGE DIFFERENCE between hating a team - and feeling inferior.

If you really pay attention the same can be said about KU - - how much is KU brought up by other fan bases?How many shots do we take from other fans? - -I'll tell you how many , if you ever check other boards you will see. -- -That's like saying Kentucky feels inferior to us, there is something on KU almost daily on their boards - if not every other day - - how about West Virginia? - -Hell they are Giving Huggins a bonus when or if they beat us - -is that the administration feeling inferior? Don't know if I'll get into unfair treatment as a team - -maybe quite a bit of ass kissing by ESPN favoritism maybe- - the EAST COAST BIAS along with North Carolina - -lots of people don't think basketball can be played anywhere other then on the East coast. - - How many people feel KU gets that un fair advantage at Allen? - -If you listen to other fans across the land they SWEAR there is a conspiracy for KU when
we play at home. All you hear is how they have to play KU AND the refs EVERYTIME, and that's why KU has won so many consecutive Big 12 championships in a row.

Bottom line is when your a Blue blood school - it's easy for your boys NOT to be liked, your going to be a target EVERY DAY - -GAME IN - -GAME OUT whether it be media, OR other fan bases - We by far are not the only ones with a hatred for Duke and love laying it on them when the opportunity is there no matter what the circumstance may be - -Whether it be tripper boy - -The Coach or anything else about that school, just facts of life - But inferior - -NA don't think so - -Conspiracy - - not so much - -just have no love lost for them, love to see it when they fail - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

I have posted before a list former Duke players that could be potential replacements for Coach Rat Face and Capel would not be at the top of the list. In his only Major conference gig at OU, he has a losing record. I believe his high ceiling is assistant coach but not head coach.

We have to keep track of Duke because is the enemy and we need to know what it is up to in case we have to play them again. Duke still has superior talent but has been hit by injuries more than any other team plus Grayson "Game Tripper" has been an ongoing distraction. Once Coach Rat Face comes back and the team is healthy, it will be a force to be reckoned with again.

@wissox My focus on other top schools failing, especially the consistent #1 or #2 recruiting schools like Duke and UK, is from a broader perspective:

Sure, I like to see rivals lose. But when they have slumps like this, I am deeply appreciative of the consistency KU has shown especially under Self. Replacing entire lineups 3 times, missing on big recruit offers, devastating injuries--for 12 straight years we have been a championship caliber team. WOW!!!

@JayHawkFanToo I can see your point, but the stuff we post is just things like ha ha, Duke lost, and look what Grayson did now, and look how ugly Coach K is, and well, you get the point. If we were writing about Duke and their players and how good/bad/injured they are well that'd be a different thing, kind of, but even if they are a force to be reckoned with, I really don't want to read about them here at the best fan forum west of the Atlantic Ocean.

@mayjay Awesome stuff. You're right. We've been extremely fortunate to have this ongoing streak. As you know, I'm also in deep for Wisconsin. They/we proudly point to their streak of finishing top 4 in the Big1G ever since Bo Ryan arrived. Fairly remarkable streak in a tough deep league. But I wonder how many years KU has been in the top 4 of the big 12? Every year since it expanded to 12? Probably. If so how many years before that? I'd guess back to the Ted Owens years.

@wissox you are right that Duke is in our heads. But this isn't an inferiority complex for me. It has to do with media force feeding us Duke, and us not appreciating it.

It has much less to do with basketball the sport and more to do with basketball the business. And it is a nasty business. And it may well make bball less fun, but if we didn't talk about it, I'm not sure if it would feel better or worse. We'd still get hit with it elsewhere. :shrug:

I hearby pledge for the next week (til next Tuesday) I will refrain from saying anything Duke related on here, and I'll assess how I feel then.

Rather than starting a new thread on Duke to make myself feel important, I'll just add to this one. From ESPN, Coach K has banned the team from the locker room and from wearing Duke apparel until they start acting like a Duke team. Guess that means another one game punishment.
