Going to be an interesting season...

No I haven't seen a player with possession of the ball pass it to himself off the backboard and dunk it. That seems like a travel. Unless, the ref thought it was a shot and a rebound.

@stoptheflop It's actually not a travel. Rule states "A player may not be the first to touch his own pass unless the ball touches his backboard, basket ring or another player."

So really just an underused tool probably. Play was crazy awesome.

I've seen that in the NBA all star game before, but not in a regular game, and definitely not from a HS player. Most guys just don't have that level of athleticism and coordination at that age to pull a play like that off.

I don't even know where to put his expectation level. He won't be Josh Jackson, but he should be the best incoming big man we've had since Darrell Arthur (I don't count Embiid because Embiid wasn't that sharp on Day One).

@Kcmatt7 Thanks for the clarification.

@justanotherfan Bill sure seemed excited. Pretty sure he said something along the lines of not having any big man as athletic as Preston ever come in.

His potential is Marcus Morris but I doubt he stays through his JR year that just isn't the current climate of college hoops these days.

@BShark Yea plus he will be 20 by the time the season gets going next year. He is a OAD I think regardless. Either he gets drafted or goes overseas, but I don't expect multiple years from him.

Post recruiting will be important next year.

@Kcmatt7

I agree. I am just trying to control my own expectations so I don't expect Josh Jackson level production from Preston. I think Preston could be really, really good. I watch his play and his game just pops. He's 6-9, 230 but move's like he's 6-7, 210, with the extra bulk that let's him play through contact like it doesn't exist.

The big difference between him and Jackson is that I don't think he can affect the game as much if he's not scoring. Josh can have only a couple of baskets, but have some assists, a couple steals, a block or two, and a bunch of rebounds. Josh is currently second on the team in scoring, rebounding and blocks, third in assists and leads the team in steals. That's a complete player that is rare to find.

@justanotherfan Oh yea JJ is a rare find. But I do expect Preston to be a good compliment to next seasons roster.

Wow, that was a sick dunk! And I'll bet Bill would be pissed as heck if he did that in front of coach.

Sherron Collins did it on a fast break at the end of his McDonald's game. Not as spectacular as this half-court trick of course.
