What a perfect day this will be for Frank if he wins the ESPY tonight.

Jul 12, 2017 11:41 PM #3

Absolutely great news for Frank, I was a little worried for a bit there. Doesn't look like details are out on it at this point but usually a chance is all Mason needs.

@Kubie How cool....guess what, NBA???? BIFM, coming to an arena near you...

Jul 13, 2017 12:26 AM #5

Did I miss how much?💰

@Crimsonorblue22 Amount not revealed yet. Here is what the Sacramento Bee wrote on July 8 about the Kings signing their 1st rounders, as well as some info on contracts in general.

"The contract for Fox, the fifth overall pick in last month’s NBA draft, is slated for $3.8 million. Jackson, the 15th pick, is set to earn $1.97 million, and Giles, taken at No. 20, $1.5 million.

"Those figures are the baseline, and teams can pay 80 percent less of that total or up to 120 percent more, which NBA teams routinely do.

"All rookie deals start with two years and team options for the third and fourth seasons."

I don't believe this correct since it indicates a team can pay as much as 220% or as little as 20% of the rookie scale.

I believe the correct wording should be: *First round picks can sign for as much as 120% and as little as 80% of the rookie scale.

Jul 13, 2017 02:49 AM #8

Why did he only have 4 minutes last game?

Jul 13, 2017 03:00 AM #9

@chriz

I believe he tweaked his ankle.

Jul 13, 2017 03:07 AM #10

@chriz

@Crimsonorblue22 and I and some others have been posting occasional updates in the Summer League thread over the past few days.

Jul 13, 2017 03:10 AM #11

@mayjay ball's groin is healed🤣😳 and he's wearing nikes. 💰

Jul 13, 2017 03:14 AM #12

@JayHawkFanToo On that article: I laughed when I read it but forgot to edit. Imagine someone signing for the scale minus 80% ?

Jul 13, 2017 03:15 AM #13

@Crimsonorblue22 Redundant?

Jul 13, 2017 03:34 AM #14

X-ray negative on franks ankle😅

Jul 13, 2017 04:01 AM #15

Deshaun Watson won the ESPY for male college athlete. Not very surprising though considering college football dwarfs college basketball in popularity.

Cool that Frank has a contract. I'm guessing for the rookie minimum since he's a second rounder. At least he'll still be cashing those checks instead of G(D)-League checks if he spends time in that league this year.

Jul 13, 2017 04:03 AM #16

@Texas-Hawk-10 Is the broadcast still on? Not here. Switched to news.

Jul 13, 2017 04:05 AM #17

@mayjay I don't know, I just got back to Houston after driving all day from Lawrence and checked the results on my phone.

Jul 13, 2017 04:08 AM #18

@Texas-Hawk-10 I couldn't even get results for anything not announced by 11 pm edt. Gave up 20 mins ago! So, thx!

Jul 13, 2017 04:18 AM #19

ESPYs- Oh well, Football. What a day for Frank. Sprained ankle, loose ESPY, signed Contract .........

Jul 13, 2017 04:18 AM #20

Kings won. The two big guys played well after Frank went to locker room early on with bad sprain. Here's hoping Frank got at least a one year guaranteed contract and does not get cut midway (as did Aaron Miles his NBA rookie year).

Jul 13, 2017 04:22 AM #21

@mayjay

Same here. The broadcast was on ABC and it switched to the news at 10 PM.

Jul 13, 2017 04:28 AM #22

@JayHawkFanToo Wouldn't you think they'd put it on ESPN News or something? Much of it was overblown (like Bill Murray, whose Cubs segment went on and on like 1976 SNL skits), but the Eunice Shriver Arthur Ashe award and the Perseverance award kid were pretty amazing. Way too much Peyton, tho. (Durant seemed to agree.)

Jul 13, 2017 04:40 AM #23

But frank got a contract! Great news!

Jul 13, 2017 11:52 AM #24

And how cool is it that he got the contract BEFORE the sprained ankle!

Peyton bashing Durant made my night. Hilarious. "The US women's gymnastics team was so dominant that Kevin Durant wanted to join..." lol

@mayjay

Surprising it was on ABC and not on ESPN. Bill Murray's skit way, way, way too long.

Jul 14, 2017 04:03 PM #28

$1,160,000 better than the D-League. If he stays on the roster, the $ gets a whole lot better. It appears that now Bogdan has signed, the 15 man roster is set and PG Lawson will be moving out to make room for Frank as the third PG.

Looking like it's a 3 year deal if so the Kings like him as well as we do!

Way to go Frank!

Jul 15, 2017 05:39 PM #30

@wrwlumpy thanks for posting that. So happy for Frank!
