Tyler Herro
Oct 18, 2017 03:41 PM #1

36 overall 2018 recruit Tyler Herro decommitted from Wisconsin a few days ago. The recruiting insider for Wisconsin Evan Flood expects North Carolina, Kansas, Kentucky, and Arizona to get involved.

Any thoughts on this guy? Maybe an alternate option if Kansas misses on the priority targets Grimes, Langford, & Zion?

I thought about that myself - - maybe, - -but I don't think we miss on Quinton - -that will take care of that need. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

My condolences @wissox looks like he dumped Wisconsin to play at a blue blood. Kid is a lights out shooter. Would take.

@BShark Yeah, he was a good get. Sorry to see him go unless KU gets him of course. I can't think of many Wisconsin kids who went to KU. Calvin Rayford is the only one I can think of since I've been paying attention. He was out of Milwaukee I recall, and I wouldn't even remember his name if he wasn't a Badger stater at KU.

I'm not sure the likelihood we even get involved seriously when you start to project our lineup and minutes out at the guard spot. However, I would love to land this kid.

6'5 white guy shooter has Duke written all over him though...

He's a jerk, I must infer? Otherwise Duke has no claim....

I will point out if in fact KU does get involved with Herro this could mean they are doing so because they don't have 100% confidence in landing another guard at the moment. I'm really just assuming but if you see KU becoming a factor I would think it means something. Looks like he wants clear cut PT. Not sure KU has that clear cut option just yet..

@BeddieKU23 I'd read into how KU feels about Romeo if we become involved.

good point seems how Herro is definitely more of a SG/wing type

@BeddieKU23 Yeah. Have heard staff is selling Grimes on playing 1/2, and playing a lot. Grimes knows he has a spot at KU.

Looks like KU is planning to visit him tomorrow.

@BShark Ya think possibly they might be getting involved maybe because maybe Grimes not the lock we are thinking? - -Hope not. -- - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Oct 19, 2017 01:07 AM #14

@jayballer54 Doesn't play the same position as Grimes...

Oct 19, 2017 02:40 AM #15

@BShark Isn't he a shooting guard? -- -Which if Grimes commits is what Grimes will probably be play 80% of the time at the 2 position - -only play the PG when Dotson is taking a rest or foul trouble - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Oct 19, 2017 03:09 AM #16

@jayballer54 Grimes is a PG/CG this Herro kid is more like a wing in Self's system.

Oct 19, 2017 05:10 PM #17

Herro was originally and still listed as SG but it started when he was 6'-2". He is now 6'-5" and probably a SG-SF combo.

Not initially highly recruited but now he seems to be hot and UNC, UK, Arizona and KU are now after him with KU getting the slight nod in some of the recruiting boards.

Oct 19, 2017 09:32 PM #18

Looks like he will be a Tarhole. Been in the works for awhile and it seems like he wanted the scandal stuff to clear up before decommitting from Wiscy.

Oct 19, 2017 11:00 PM #19

@BShark doesn’t look like a lot of PT available for him here. Would be like the Grayson Allen of the Okafor, Jones, Winslow class.

Twist! Grimes to KU, KJ to MD and this kid to UK. I'd take it.

Didn't you see, Fisher says uk got a 45% chance with Grimes lol

@BeddieKU23 That UK degree has not helped his math skills apparently.

We all know he has to please a very delusional fanbase so its not a surprise

Oct 20, 2017 03:42 PM #25

@BeddieKU23 True. Also of note he still isn't confident enough to take UK in the CB. You know...funny thing... UK people think KU leads and it's UK or KU. Marquette people think KU leads and it's Marquette or KU. Texas people think KU leads.

I'm sensing a theme...

I like that theme you have presented. So we should expect him to sign with Arizona in March? (kidding of course)

@BeddieKU23

Now that Arizona is radioactive, KU has a chance...

Tyrel Reed, er, Tyler Herro is going mean another 4-5 years of board rats going to the hoop optometrist for “the eye test” failure.

Are board rats ready for wearing corrective lenses again?

Welcome, Mr. Herro, if you come. I kept my old prescription Persols! I’m ready!

Oct 20, 2017 06:45 PM #29

P.S.: The big question is not the eye test. It’s the “Shoe Lean” test. Does he want to play for scale at KU, or rack up a $100k somewhere else?
