Embiid v. Wiggins tonight on ESPN
Dec 13, 2017 03:14 AM #1

Started at 8:30 so you've still got time to watch the bulk of the game.

Uh Oh, Joel goes down hard. Got smacked in the chest by Taj Gibson.

Just realized teammates Mason and Jackson playing against each other too. Mason slightly outplaying thus far.

False alarm, Joel seems to be ok.

Jo Jo - put on a clinic again last night. - -28 points - -12 rebounds AND 8 assists. - -realize not same position - but out done Wiggs. - -Wiggs had 20 and I think like 7 rebs. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

I’d take a team of RS Sr. Embiid and 4 Clay Youngs vs the NCAA field.

Last night Wizards-Grizzlies games had Chalmers and McLemore (Selden was not active) against Markieff and Oubre , although Markieff was injured and did not play. When is the last time we saw 5 Jayhawks dressed up for the same NBA game?

Wiggins only had 7 points last night. We know someone happy by this development

Dec 21, 2017 04:05 PM #12

@BeddieKU23 Still, they won, which is the important thing. He still had the only +/- among the starters. I would guess Wiggins wouldn't mind keeping The Chicken happy so long as they win when he has a few mediocre stats.

@mayjay

I know the win was more important especially for a team that hasn't been in the playoffs in forever and is in position to be a playoff team finally. It was more a jab at our favorite debbie downer of Mr Andrew's abilities

Dec 21, 2017 06:36 PM #14

@BeddieKU23

The Wolves are on track to make the playoffs which is a big improvement for a team that has been left out for so long. It is a young team with good potential and in a couple of years it could be a contender.

Same thing with the Sixers, except if the playoff were today they would be out of it but they are only 3 games behind 4th place and a lot of games to make up 3 measly games. The key is keeping Embiid and Simmons healthy since they are their ticket to post season play.

Dec 21, 2017 07:49 PM #15

@BeddieKU23 Oh, nothing snide to you! I was only elaborating because of Debbie Downer's proven inability to recognise that Wiggins is important to the team's success even when he does not post big numbers.

Dec 21, 2017 09:07 PM #16

Butler can score. Karl-Anthony can score. Wigs can score when the team needs him to score. When Butler was out, and they needed Wigs to carry the offensive load, he scored way more than what he is now. It's a team game- not an individual sport. Wigs does what the coach asks him to do. Maybe the T-Wolves coach prefers Butler to carry the scoring load. That doesn't mean Wigs couldn't carry the load. Some people fail to grasp the "team" portion of basketball, and think it's all about launching 20+ shots every game.

@mayjay

Great point!

Dec 21, 2017 09:43 PM #18

Not to be a dreaded Debbie downer, but wasn't Wiggins supposed to be a transformative star? He's shooting just over 42% and below 30% from three. Sure, he helps his team, and is a good player, but that wasn't really the bar, was it?

Wiggins overall numbers are down this year, slight disappointment considering he had signed a huge contract coming into this year.

Exchange one of those Clay Young's for frank and I'm with you.

Frank Mason is definitely my second favorite Jayhawk.
