Lol it really was great. Basically said when stories are written where it is "an unnamed coach" and then later only one coach is quoted it is usually the same guy haha. Especially when it isn't specifically stated that they are different people.

Pre John Calipari UK was not an OAD factory. Pre Sean Miller Arizona was not an OAD factory. Duke is Duke and their coach has been there forever so he has either jumped on the train OR he has just been able to out recruit and land top recruits at a high rate without using dead presidents. It is pretty obvious that the majority of these OAD's attend a handful of schools. The OAD's are the only guys an agent or agency would take a 100k gamble on. I read somewhere that Vegas is where most of these money transfers take place. If an agent goes in and buys 100k worth of chips and places them in the hands of a top recruits handler and the handler cashes them in and claims them as winnings it is untraceable. Sounded legit? All I am saying is that IF Self wanted to purchase players then KU would also be an OAD factory. He would be landing 4-5 OAD's every year just like these other schools. If anyone should be worried it should be UK and possibly Duke. Just my opinion here guys!

Plenty of non-OADs get paid too. Angel Morris had a nice job for Doug Compton lol.

@Statmachine I don't think I have ever read, outside the arena of political comments, more concentrated levels of pure speculations and adulterated crap as the blog you favorably cited. If you read it through and think it was probative of anything, I think you might have only seen the parts that confirmed your own opinions about Cal. We all have opinions and I enjoy the discussions of them, but that article is totally off the wall.

The last line in my segment stated it was my opinion. I have one and no one has to like it lol

I agree.

Self has said several times that he is drawn to the best talent the world has to offer. If he could have, he would have done what Calipari did at Kentucky and what K has done now at Duke. He wants to recruit the highest level of talent he can get. And just look at our past... full of 4-star recruits and often marginal 5-star players and then sprinkled in the top recruits like Wigs. Look at all that very top tier we have missed on. Self went for it. No reason to think he couldn't have landed more top shelf talent if he was "dirty."

Heck... it took a long time just to get Self to change his recruiting strategy where he would tell the top shelf guys that they would be treated like everyone else... no special deals. They had to fight to earn their minutes. As it became more apparent that wasn't what players wanted to hear, Self changed. He started giving the very top tier guys extra benefits... different from the rest. They wouldn't just get the fast hook for making mistakes in games.

It is clear that Self wants the very highest ranked players. Why hasn't he done better?

@drgnslayr because he fills all of his scholarships with high upside players and coaches them up. He creates competition some of the top guys are scared of. Jmo

Self is soft now. He took Mitch in the fall and took Ochai before like...June...
