Saturday was the 100th loss for Coach at KU, and it took 16 seasons to get to 100. Remarkable. Tack on a few more we are likely to get this year, and by season's end that will equate to just 6.5 losses per year. That my friends, is what they call - Stupid Good.

Despite the feel that this year is going to be a bit of a down year after our recent runs with Frank and Davonte leading the way, the sustained excellence we have enjoyed over the last 16 years is nothing short of amazing. I really hope Kurtis reminds Bill every day, "You know, you only need 127 more wins to tie Phog."

@Fightsongwriter Great post, but I hope Kurtis only says any particular number for 3 or 4 days, then reduces it.

I've never known KU with a bad coach. I'm not sure what the consensus was about about Ted Owens, but since Larry came we have had 3 hall of fame coaches. Remarkable indeed. Of course some of the others can claim HOF coaches too, but we're pretty spoiled.

Ted was Ok. Seemed he could recruit pretty decent during his time - -just didn't or couldn't Coach to the talent - -of the most recent 4 that I've been around -- Ted - - Larry - - - Roy -- & now Bill - -Ted was lagging in the rear some - -we had some lean years with Ted. - I remember Allen called back then well actually still that but referred to so much more now as the phog - but I remember quite a few empty seats - -being able to walk up on game day hours before the game and buying tickets - -pretty decent one's at that. -- -Just think he just couldn't coach what he had. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

We are extremely luck to have such great coaches for the past 34 years. The hardest job in sports will be replacing Self, Williams and coach K.

Edit: This is why we should take it easy on Self this season, as Bilas said during the game that it was impressive KU is this good with all the stuff going on and the players missing.

Great post, and some perspective to think on. We get caught up in the season and how's its trending. Been a Great ride and I hope we are not at the end of it
