Did Nike take out a liability tonight?

Did Zion W threaten to reveal the goods on Nike, where a wire or something and they planted a suspect shoe for Zion, blowing out injuring his knee?

FBI called in to investigate this unbelievable, never before seen occurrence in ESPN’s biggest game of the year, causing Dukie ESPN to have to take a hit.

This is not Jaybate...as you can tell from the very poor attempt to look behind the scenes, under the covers, and in the bush for the bloody clue to break open the case.

Miss you Jaybate.

Duke a one trick pony? Getting embarrassed at home.

Feb 21, 2019 04:00 AM #3

DOOK...DOOK...DOOK...

Feb 21, 2019 04:20 AM #4

Puke...Oops

I would never wish an injury on any player or team. But that Nike shoe incident brought a little bit of justice? I think the crooked Nike shoe rep just sharted in his pants.

That is funny. When I got to your 2nd paragraph, I said, "Damn! Who wrote this, Jaybate?" Then read on and saw the spoiler!

Adidas should post that their shoes don’t blow out in the biggest games of the year just to troll Dook lol

Feb 21, 2019 10:26 AM #7

All I could think of was Jaybate when I woke up this morning and saw the world had stopped due to Zion's injury.

Honestly shocked ESPN didn't cut the broadcast of the game but then they realized their other less meaningful meal ticket was playing in the same game so they had no choice but to live that nightmare.

This was some deep cover ops by Adidas to get revenge for KT being on wire talking about what it would cost to get Zion to Adidas.

Sportscenter will probably air a 3 hour special with multiple renowned knee specialist diagnosing the injury and prognosis.

They might even suggest Zion get a new leg if it helped him get back before the NCAA tourney

@Bwag

That was funny as hell!

And the story below it was good too about a stuffed bulldog being thrown on the court in the last 5 seconds costing Georgia a technical which lost them the game.

Hmmmm, I wonder... a close game, closing seconds, what if someone from the opposing team dressed as a home team supporter throws a home team mascot on the floor?

After all, thanks to Adidas, we haven't had to worry about Silvio's shoes blowing out in any big games.

@StLJhawk

Absolutely. Insanity.

@approxinfinity

Whatever happened to warning the crowd? Good Gosh if I'm Georgia I'm not stopping until that crew is fired

Feb 21, 2019 02:59 PM #13

ESPN now will give updates every half an hour on Zion's progress with this horrific injury.

Feb 21, 2019 02:59 PM #14

latest update. Nike stocks plunge after Zion's injury.

Jaybate we need ya, Adidas did some work here.

Feb 21, 2019 03:00 PM #15

Yahoo Headline."Zion risks millions every step he takes". He actually has to take steps to make millions. Today's headlines are pure comedy

Feb 21, 2019 03:00 PM #16

I’m disappointed Zions not a Jayhawk. If KUs going down in flames for paying players why didn’t they pay him?!? Tongue in cheek.

Feb 21, 2019 03:03 PM #17

@dylans That's another interesting question why don't we win more if we are really paying these and why aren't we getting as good of classes as Dook,UNC and Uk.

Feb 21, 2019 03:05 PM #18

BREAKING NEWS, Zion Williamson's mom has been left homeless, jobless after her son blew out of his NIKE shoes early in a game vs North Carolina. Phil Knight issued a statement claiming Zion mistreated the shoes and he will no longer be under the Nike brand.

Feb 21, 2019 03:28 PM #19

@kjayhawks

This was designed so he could sign with Adidas after the season

Feb 21, 2019 03:56 PM #20

To show solidarity, ESPN will now change their name temporarily to ZSPN, and will run Zion updates every 10 minutes.

Puma already did that last night. They've since deleted it, however.

So they are cutting back?

I suspect the answer is that "Dollar Bill", if an accurate nickname, would have to become "Benjamin Bill" to be competitive.

Feb 21, 2019 04:55 PM #24

What are the chances that Zion just sits out the rest of the year?

No problem after all. He has now signed a deal with Gorilla Tape.

Feb 21, 2019 05:13 PM #26

I can't stop laughing. Zion should have never worn on sale $92.50 sneakers. That's the problem. Sad sad sad media. If he comes back he better be wearing those $300 Ball shoes

Paul George is a similar size to Zion but these players pretty much get there choice of whatever shoe they want, maybe he felt that was the most comfortable. People are already reviewing all the different types of shoes he has worn so far this season. Remember tho these guys don't get nothing, I knew a kid that went D1 in baseball and claimmed everything you ever could need was free apparel wise. Hats, shirts, hoodies, back packs, shoes, coats, shorts, cups, etc. Thats prob why Ohio state guys sold and traded their stuff for tattoos and money.

Will Niki get sued?

@bcjayhawk I'm sure Nike has several members of the FBI on the payroll- they can fix it.

Probably no lawsuit since they will be paying him 8 or 9 figures in a few months anyway (assuming not now). But I maybe, just maybe, would be ever-so-slightly hesitant if I was the Nike rep and learned that Zion asked for a private meeting....

Feb 22, 2019 03:12 AM #31

I have never seen a shoe blow completely apart like that in all of bball history or even heard of it. I've heard of soles separating. He blew his whole foot through the sole and the shoe rode up his leg. It was kinda awesome!

He sprung his knee? I bet he tore his meniscus.

"Nike Fires 8-Year-Old Shoemaker Responsible For Zion Williamson Injury" - The Onion

Feb 22, 2019 12:39 PM #33

It's gotta be the SHOES!!!

@kjayhawks Your's is the key question. Either our coaches suck at talent assessment or bribery tactics, or Nike pays a WHOLE lot more than the 3 stripers. My guess is the latter.

Feb 22, 2019 12:40 PM #34

@kjayhawks I was really hoping for 24/7 coverage. We NEED to know!

Feb 23, 2019 08:33 AM #35

I like Kellerman's call on this one... including exposure to the black/gray markets.

It's all about money. Zion is collateral damage.
