how is there no call for selden there???
more with a airball man the shooting has to improve
frank clanked 2 FT's when's the last time that happened
2 missed open shots.. yikes
0-8 is definitely the reason it's a 2 point game. 2nd half would be nice to see a couple 3's get in
that's what i saw as well but clearly the stripes didn't. these serbian players are comfortable with the fiba rules in what they can reasonably get away with.
Mason has 7, Selden has 6 & Bragg and Hunter have 4 points in this very low scoring affair
i wonder what the serbian guy did to piss off lucas
outside shooting has been cold, they hit a few this game is easily 8-10 points different
i agree but the rules are different every gym you go to
and a nice pass too
bragg learning his moving screens from mari
our defense already knows their stuff.
outside shooting is as cold as it gets..
bragg has such a smooth shot, going to love that
whatever person got to wayne this spring/summer has put BEAST MODE into him.
if Selden becomes our best player this year, the sky is the limit
SELDEN!!!!
lucas omg the same issues he's always had
great instincts by bragg
finally!!!!
mason has 6 points after 1st quarter
apparently its a fiber issue in bristol now. great cover job espn
serbia up 14-12
10-10
a lot of layups so far, serbia matching buckets inside.. hunter just scored. outside shooting horrific so far 0-5 i think
every jayhawk fan feels this pain right now
8-6, latest is espn is working on the issue
selden lucas ellis out
6-5 KU
4-0 KU and I dont have the feed on ESPN like i had hoped as everyone else
nope game already started
great article about the beast. If he could just find a place to unwind, seems all he's gone through is still weighing on him too much. I've been shocked that a team hasn't invested the actual time to help this guy out but its a business in the NBA. I feel like the Suns should take him like they did getting Marcus to pair with his brother. Imagine those 3 together again! Seems like the Nets are interested in him but they signed McCollough in the draft..
There's just no reason for this type of injury when we are already shorthanded 2 scholarship players. Most would agree that this trip is really important for Bragg and for him to have an injury that could prevent him from playing well is just unnecessary. I wouldn't mind if the injury occurred in the games
probably the last player we need getting hurt on this trip as far as development goes.. These injuries have to stop, its getting redic. Why is a player getting a broken nose 3 days before a game is beyond me...
Agreed, he's already physically strong and he's athletic for his size as well. It will be interesting to see what kind of player he is after his year in the program. Obviously Self was high enough on him to let him snatch that remaining spot left. His #'s around the rim were solid compared to what we had to deal with last year.
You hit the nail on the coffin with regards to recruiting for 2016, he's not going to scare any of our targets away. We get a guy with 2 years left with some sneaky potential left. Who knows maybe he's under the radar for a reason but something says it will pay to be optimistic about his chances.
Well put, I think given time to actually see Coleby play that he might open up to some of the people that were upset/surprised that he signed with KU. I get it, he played for Ole Miss, was an unranked big & came off the bench. @HighEliteMajor has pointed out that his stats really weren't that bad, his rebounding actually looks to be something we could really use. He has soft touch at the FT line so a 15ft jumper is definitely not out of the question. The games that I saw of Ole Miss last year, I was impressed with Coleby when he was in the game and he was on a team that was all perimeter based. Given the chance to work with KU this year I'm optimistic he can be a rotation player that we can count on. And if we have the mass exodus of players in the post, all the Sr's plus Diallo then we will definitely need him regardless of the 5star bigs we are after..
i believe the dunking rule was taken care of this round of rule changes. no longer an issue?
Plenty of top 10 kids have come back, 2012 & 2013 guys came back from that class. This past class we saw almost all of them go pro (only 2 of top 10 stayed). The only reason I think Diallo has the chance to stay is because of his offensive game that needs refinement. Usually if your going to go high in the draft as a Big you better be able to score the basket which could be viewed as his biggest weakness right now. The 2016 draft could have a lot of freshman bigs which could give Diallo incentive to stay. At least we should see what Diallo does in the system before running him out the door.
I understood Williams wasn't able to talk to Self until Mizz received all the backlash for limiting who he could transfer to. Looks like Coleby really took everyone by surprise when he jumped over Chukwu & Williams for that spot. Coleby will be solid though and we should be expect that Self knows what he was doing with him
Keeping Graham healthy will be the key to keeping Wayne in that spot. If Graham gets another significant injury (2nd now in a year) then our PG depth and potential lineups alter dramatically.
Williams from all I gathered wasn't a true 5 and there's no guarantee that Diallo is a OAD. I know a lot of people believe he is but right now we don't know for sure. Williams would have been nice but we got Coleby who jumped on the opportunity that Williams & Chuckwu were sputtering at.
I really think we lost on Williams because Gonzaga offered a better deal. They lose 2 Seniors and Likely Sabonis & they jumped on him right after he became available. KU was late to the party on him. The MU part might have had some factor as too many people were worried where he played as opposed to what he could bring to KU. I don't blame him if the negativity surrounding him playing at Mizz was a deciding factor.
Not surprised that Chukwu went somewhere else, Syracuse always gets its share of 7 footer's with upside.
We got into the Williams deal too late especially with Gonzaga all but ensuring him a starting spot next year. And if Bragg returns for his Soph year there's really no chance that Williams had a guaranteed starting spot.
I actually don't want Ellis to mess around with playing the 3. I would rather play both PG's together or switch Svi & Selden as you have suggested. I understand he's not the ideal 4 in the NBA so showing some perimeter skills and perimeter defense would really help sell him to NBA teams but I think they all know who he is at this point. I think the only way his stock really changes is for him to be totally dominant all year. I'd rather Self not tinker with him too much and just let him play. He's a smart player who knows what's expected of him at this point.
If this move of Selden to the 3 really works out then I will be ecstatic. These type of games Wayne "Can Have" have always been proven to be inconsistent. If he's able to give these games more often being in a more natural 3 position then KU has a chance to be the best team in the nation.
Interesting quote from Self. You just wonder how much he will really get to play the 3 with all the players back we are missing. It's a great wrinkle right now as we are playing so shorthanded.
I'm sure he will get his chance as Mason & Graham are certain to play together this year. But you also have Perry who's got to show some SF skills this year. Not speculating anything but if the best lineup Self finds is switching Selden & Perry at the 3 sometimes then Svi & Greene's minutes will be limited some..??
I think we will win this game by double digits. A game to adjust to pace & rules is just as beneficial to KU as it was Canada
. I think the defense might be a bit more prepared guarding the 3 as that was an issue especially early in the game Tuesday.
All the newcomers, Moore, Debose, Bragg & Vick should be a little more settled now as well. I look for Perry to have a strong game tonight even if its his typical 15 8 type line.
Absolutely agree it was a no brainer for Okafor at 3. At that pick he's a bit underrated because of his offensive prowess. But who's to throw them the ball? And if Embiid is healthy how do you keep 3 big men with star quality happy with minutes. If I'm a Sixers fan at this point you have to seriously question why you would even like them. They must have some plan we can't see, especially in the sense of these guys trade value.
That scenario could very well happen. We have no idea the extent of which Embiid's injury is still around and no word yet on if he's set to play summer league or not? I would say that is essential for Joel because of how little basketball he's played in almost 2 years.
Some really bad picks last night. Teams were reaching badly for players they could have gotten 5 to 10 picks later. When the Lakers picked Russell as reported all day, the chain of events at 3,4,5 were comical.
Sixers getting Okafor means that someone is getting traded. Either it be Noel or Embiid someone is going. Or the Sixers are scared that Jo Jo won't be able to play much this year with his injury concerns still lingering. Either way it doesn't look bright for Embiid when you pick yet another Center.
Knicks, honestly I haven't watched much tape on Porzingis but what I saw didn't scream to me #4 pick for a team needing everything but a project player. That is was he is at this point, a guy who's not ready to be a top option on a bad team. Drafting that high and reaching on someone who could possibly 2-3-4 years from now be very good is dumb when your trying to win games in the present. But the Knicks are notorious for making the worst pick so its not a surprise.
Magic, again they reached on Hezonja who's got major talent but failed to play more than 10 minutes a game on his club team in Spain. He's a nice piece to add and I don't doubt that his shooting will really help them out.
If that's true then he must have raised a lot of character red flags in the process. I think his knee injury hurt his chances with workouts he missed with teams. From all information we know, his family gave him a raw deal and spiraled the chain of events that have now left him fending for himself. But if he was popping off at the mouth about it in a negative sense I don't sympathize with him for poor judgement.
The only plus is that this should really humble him from whatever high horse he might have been on about being drafted. Now he can work hard with a chip on his shoulder, and find 1 or multiple summer league teams to play and hope that a team has a low # of posts under contract.
Prohm runs high tempo at Murray St. I would assume the same continues in Cyclone land.
I see TCU, Tech & K-St being team that will be deliberate in their offense.
Will be interesting to see Virginia adjust to the rules as Bennett is notorious for running the clock down.
agreed, I think Hezonja has the chance to be a good NBA player but Porzingis is years away because he's rail thin. I find it hard to believe a team in the top 7 is going to pick Porzingis with the understaning he's going to play from Day 1 and contribute. I think that's reaching a whole lot passing up on players with NBA ready games already.
