Simply can’t get a 4th quarter stop - all season long…

Almost 500 yards of offense. The issue isn’t moving the ball.

The play calling in the red zone, decision-making and execution are all inexplicably bad…

So, Kohl has gone 33 minutes without a rebound. Given his size and hops, that is really indefensible…

Self essentially played 7 against Notre Dame and 6 against Syracuse with all 5 starters playing 30+ minutes yesterday. Considering how many shots KU is missing short tonight, that’s a classic sign of tired legs.

So, that would argue for playing Ngala, Calderon and Mbyia a handful of minutes each. That seems to be what other teams are doing, at least early in the year. Same issue every year - apparently our 8-9-10 guys are much worse than their counterparts even on teams with clearly lesser talent overall…

A B10 hasn’t won a NCAA title in close to forever, but based on early non-conference returns, that could change this season. B10 teams looking dominant in key non-conference match-ups. May not be quite the level of the SEC last year, but pretty close. Michigan and Dusty May scored big in the portal and the Wolverines look really good. Destroyed a good Auburn team last night, putting up 59 in the first half. Good match up with the Zags next.

Odd game. We’re not forcing any TOs, but committing bad ones. If we took better care of the ball, we could be up close to 20. On the other hand, Cuse is getting into the lane pretty easily, but missing shots, are we are not letting them get many second chances…

Good night for the B12 - several quality wins - SJU, Creighton, Texas, Notre Dame, Syracuse

Wasn’t able to watch. Just looking at the box score. Based on it, only real concern is absolutely nothing from Kohl - no points, no rebounds and three fouls in 19 minutes.

Schedule “lighter” but several difficult games - Dallas next week, Texans (their defense is very good), Broncos and Chargers. And no margin for error. Jacksonville just beat Arizona in OT to basically stay 2 games up on the Chiefs for one of the wild card slots. Probably need to go 5-1 down the stretch and that is a tall order…

Something is still amiss. If it is a mild sprain - no tear - then with appropriate treatment (assume he is getting that!) and rest, it should be a handful of days to at most a week or two. Two weeks in and to already conclude he isn’t available for another week!? That would seem to be a day to day determination.

KU is one of only 2 B12 teams to have two losses. 10 are undefeated. Arizona already has wins against 3 ranked teams, two in the top 5. It could be a long year, esp. if DP’s grade 1 strain somehow persists all year…

Fwiw - Navy just 9 down to UNC with less than 2 minutes to go…

Something is amiss. If its a Grade 1 injury - strain - it would typically take a few days to heal with rest and treatment. Grade 2 - partial tear - could take a few weeks. Grade 3 - full tear - might take months. One would assume that DP has had an MRI? That would show whether there is a partial or full tear. But I haven’t seen any information about MRI results. Anyone else?

Zion Williamson was diagnosed with a Grade 1 strain a week or so ago and would be reevaluated in 7-10. OG Anunoby pulled up with a hammy the other day and immediately left the game and the team indicated he would be out at least two weeks. Much more info provided in those cases.

We’re 20-31 on 2pt attempts - scoring in the paint consistently. Alas, just 4-18 on 3pt attempts - most of which don’t look close to going in…

What is painfully clear 4 games in is that with DP, KU can be competitive against good teams. Without him, we are no better than middle of the B12. The portal guys are at best meh… The narrative was to go after guys who were good fits. But the sad fact is that they are just not that talented, certainly compared to transfers at other top 20 teams. Thought we would at least be really good defensively, if offensively challenged, but that hasn’t been the case. We simply don’t make other teams uncomfortable. The Tigers are having no issue running their offense…

One inexplicable stat that doesn’t augur well for the future is that we have 16 TOs to their 10. For us to be successful against better competition, we have to be able to generate points off defense - putting pressure on the ball and clogging passing lanes and generating TOs. To only force 10 against this level of competition is disconcerting…

Fwiw - Radford ended up with about the same score/spread against UNC as the Hawks did…

Gave up 59 points in the 2d half…

You would think that if we were making 11 shots from the arc at a 45% rate, we would be putting up 100…

Appears that we don’t actually have anyone who can score the ball other than DP…

UNC has score 44 points in 8 minutes in the 2d half…Outscore us 44-22. I don’t believe that the Tarheels are really that good…

The one thing I thought was a given about this team was that it was going to be salty on the defensive end - win ugly games. So much for that…

So, 41-18 UNC so far this half. They may score 7o…

Just back from an event. We gave up 31 points in 8-1/2 minutes of the 2nd half - after 28 total in the 1st half???

Remarkable stat… We are 5-20 from 3; 20-23 from 2. Perhaps not jack up so many 3s???

The bench is 1-6 (Tiller’s early 3 pointer) with 1 assist…

Finding things to complain about… Two guys have 34 of our 48 points. Need to see some production out of other starters and especially the bench…

3 pt shooting is likely going to be an ongoing issue/concern - just 3-14 against a bad team that doesn’t isn’t pressuring the arc and doesn’t have much length…

So, this is what we can’t afford against better competition. Several empty possessions and a 6-0 run against us by a bad team…

Hard to judge right now. Defense pretty solid, offense less so - esp. given that Gottliebers are just not very good. We should be able to get to triple digits against this bunch…
