Introduce yourselves to the Women's Soccer Team.
I thought Snacks was staying home to recruit.
Notice that after almost 30 hrs. Of traveling the excitement and smile about the trip have abated. Let's hope that there is a reason to smile on the way home. Maybe a medal could at least allow them to smile as they get back on the plane.
One of the most fun teams to watch in the NCAA. No ugly ball at Wisconsin.
Meanwhile, back at the Hudy Ranch, Svi is getting it done.
Tired tired tired. Jet lag and basketball.
I don't think anyone, even those like myself who see his shortcomings, think that it would be a could idea to have him on the court the same amount of minutes as Frank, Wayne or Perry. Like HEM said, and I can't believe I agree with him, He is our best option by default. Pick someone else to take his minutes. Who? I simply think with 5 years of Bill Self Coaching and a heavy load of maturity that he will help the squad immensely. I see him helping much more than hurting us this year. Moody was better, Travis was better. Now it is Jamari's turn to be a senior. I give him the same chances to be good his Final Season as the other two.
@MoonwalkMafia I knew we had some One Percenter's on this site.
You are correct in your observation. This is the next area in front of the boys.

From KU Sports.
First Class for the boys.
747 layover in Detroit before direct flight to Korea.
The Swiss have already arrived in Inchon. We play this team on July 8th.
Popovich and Spurs would be a perfect fit.
Hunter will benefit more than anyone else with all of the minutes he will be getting. He did good tonight and got a well deserved ovation for a great series of rebounding, blocks and scoring in the fourth quarter to expand the lead. The Big three were great tonight, but they need to be involved in a blowout game in Gwangju to be able to rest. Way too many minutes, but traveling in two days to the other side of the earth and adjusting to jet lag will be exhausting. 8 games in 10 days, kind if like the NAIA tournament. It will be a great team when we get the other four back, especially Devonte, who I think is just as good as Nic Moore.
Tyler was about to sub at the end of the first half but there never was a dead ball for him to get in. The talent is going to be great in the WUG but when Evan and Tyler go in, the Jayhawks lead goes away. Bragg and Old Vick will look like Sophmores when the season starts. Many of us forget that Lucas had surgery this off season also. Self decided to go with Hunter and he played very solid.
Frank got caught several times guarding the tallest Canadian that shoots threes. He never scored because he felt like a small bulldog was chewing his legs off.v
Think of all the fifth year players that have played for Bill Self. The one that gives my hypothesis an example would be Conner Teahan. Conner showed brilliance in pre-season games as a Freshman hitting almost all of his 3 point shots. He looked as if he could become a starting 3 in his second year. He had turned down a scholarship to Wichita State to be a walk on at KU. He finished the season on the bench because of his, (Danny Manning quote) "Inability to play defense." He was put in the Syracuse game at the Sprint Center his Second year and failed miserably in the clutch. He sat on the bench his third year and Red Shirted after that.
After working a year with Hudy and honing his defensive skill he went on to start several games and contribute to one of the most beloved teams of all time at KU. His 4 for 4 from behind the Arc against MU in the final Border War and becoming a solid rotation player on a squad that went to the National Championship game will forever make him a special hero along with Moody for attaining so much as a walk-on.
Jamari is a lot different from these two. Both Moody and Conner did not need a scholarship to attend KU. Jamari slept in a car in the cold on the streets of Chicago. Jamari needed to grow up. He needed to somehow not get in trouble and miss games for something stupid that he did. He needed to learn to not get down on himself when he fouled out of a game early. But what he is, is a fifth year Senior that will run through a wall for Bill Self. He will be a college graduate this year and will make a good living for himself playing overseas. I doubt he will get arrested at 2 a.m. in front of the Oread. Frank was directing the team Tuesday night, but Jamari was directing the Freshmen. Some on this site have written him off. I can't wait to see another play like the one at Texas last year.
@JayHawkFanToo His offensive tip in was pretty cool.
Somehow, I knew you would write that post about his Double/Double. He is what he is and he is ours. He had a great game! Apparently only one kind of rebound really counts. He is a fifth year senior that got a late start to the game. He is not a superstar, neither was Brady or Travis. He will be a part of our run this year whether you like it or not. Don't waste time on being Negative. He has personally won games for us. Once at the free throw line and many times with his hustle. He has lost games for us too. Like all of them have. Lighten up. Progress not Perfection!
You guys are such a gas.
I thought the Hunter and Landon were fine on the boards and swatting away several shots, but international Big Men are allowed to roam the parameter and shoot threes. They have all been doing what Perry just began doing last year and starting from behind the Arc and driving or shooting threes. Let them suck up as many minutes doing this in the WUG, it will only benefit the team when the season starts.
The USA Conference player of the year looked good, especially with assist, but Frank had an assist to a quick Perry for an easy back door cut using an incredible no look bounce pass. Frank, Wayne, Mari and Frank are much better this year, but Frank looks like Allen Iverson in the pros. When we have a short clock with a few seconds left, Frank will have the ball every time to score or dish. What an incredible asset to have.!ku_bkc_canada_611_t960.jpg ↗
Having Perry, Frank, Wayne and Jamari as a core will win us 20 games. Getting the injured healthy will make it 25. Foreign players with OAD Diallo and Svi will make it 29. Old Vick and Bragg getting lots of playing time before the Season begins puts us over 30. Staying healthy with all of this and a Final Four is ours.
@jaybate-1.0 I thought for sure that the word "Whippersnapper" was about to be used.
Greene and Devonte were shagging balls for the halftime shooters. Greene looked happy but slow, Devonte looked well, lifting his knees high and laughing. Devonte looked like he would return faster than Brannen.
Frank is now the best guard I've seen since Sherron, maybe better. Perry was doubled and triple teamed. Something that might disappear when Diallo joins the team. Still he dominated on defense like a big dog. First to get to double figures and Self will use the double teaming to his advantage somehow.
Wayne looks much healthier and smarter with a flair to make steals with a new speed.
Old Vic will play more than all of us thought he would, same with Bragg. Like all highly rated Freshmen, great one minute then crazy the next.
Because of 11 games in 11 days, Tyler and Evan will have to play. Evan screwed up one play on an inbounds twice to the point that Frank was trying to avoid passing it in to him when he was open.
We are a superior team in strength, speed and stamania. Jamari was great on both ends with a double/double. In the WUG, Lucas and Mick will have to do better guarding big men that like to shoot threes. The Canadian lead of ten was when Tyler and Evan were in the game.
Finally, I realized that Stub Hub and Ticket Master bought up all the good seats in the instance or before they went on sale to the non-William's Fund middle class Jayhawks.
The game was very interesting with all the new rules, including Frank being called on the 8 second to get the ball over the half court. In the last 4 minutes, it almost felt like Allen Field House. Win or lose, the WUG will make us much better.
7 stars on the back represents the 7 Jayhawks that won the 1952 Olympic Gold Medal.
Kelly has been asked to be in the Green Room with the projected Lottery picks.
So many memories...
The best of the three threw it all away.
I'm wondering if Julian Debose and Nic Moore knew that they would be wearing Kansas on their chest.
For me, the best outcome would to be to make it out of our Pod and play and receive any medal. All of these guys living together in Gwangju for two week playing 11 games will be a big plus. Frank, Perry, Wayne, Landon and Mick can hone what they already know while Bragg and Old Vick get a quick jump start 4 months before any other Freshmen in the country. It's all good. With every game televised on ESPN to countries that love Basketball year round, Adidas, and KU will get a tremendous name recognition boost. Bill Self will be praised on every telecast while Frank, Perry and Wayne get some early pub for Conference and All-American honors. It's all good AND we get to watch KU Basketball in June and July! p.s. Jaybate, I love the Mark Twain reference.

I was listening to 610 yesterday evening to a national sports broadcast as one announcer said, "I am so happy that the NCAA has voted to shorten the clock to get rid of the awful Half-Court Offenses that are so ugly as they look for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th options that have been scouted by the same coaches for years. I'm so sick of Big guys with their backs to the basket. This new clock is going to make the dinosaur coaches of basketball play like the NBA and the Europeans where the game is fast and big guys shoot threes. Everyone will have to copy Calipari's Dribble/Drive offense."
I felt like Don McClean, when he heard that Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and the Big Bopper had died.
Who has a Malone and Stockton on their team to play a two man pick and roll 80% of the time? Who needs a coach when street ball is in vogue. Get use to the announcer saying "They've got to hurry to get the shot off."
I'm not for or against the new shot clock. I just hope that things work out better than the new defensive rules of two years ago.
Injuries last year had more to do with Devonte being stepped on and Ellis being rolled up on. They had nothing to do with Hudy over training them.
@Kip_McSmithers So you think Bill Self is lying about this?
@KUSTEVE Thank you Jethro - JED 2016! - He'll be in a semi-cast until the end of July then he will have 4 months to recover before the first game. I'm just sad that he can't play in Korea with his teammates and be a part of something special. I hope he can go on the flight. Maybe they can take out a seat and have something for him to lay his leg on. It all depends on the amount of pain he will be in.
@Statmachine DITTO!
I feel so bad for Devonte. His full recovery is essential for us to make it to the Final Four. Olde Vic is going to have to be baptized very early. Svi is good but is no where near the ball handler that Devonte is. Having Seldon play point is not moving us forward in getting the ball across half court in 4 seconds. Four weeks of immobility, some will spin it to say, "He'll have fresher legs when it counts!" - "Evan Manning will become another Frank Mason!" - This doesn't have too many positives unless he can come back to be the Superstar that we expect him to turn into. Yes, It could have happened to Ellis, Mason, or any other Jayhawk. Devonte, in the scheme of things IMO is equal as a teammate to anyone on this team.
The Mounties are on their way to Lawrence.
