I see that we the posters have cut way back on saying DP this and DP that though he is golden. It seems we now are seeing how good we can be with the status quo. I think we need to take advantage of having White, Melvino, Flory and Tiller while we can. We still can’t safely say how good we are which hasn’t stopped us as we are a wide ranging group of cautious to reckless and hilarious guys and gals. Plus knowledgeable, por favor.

@Bosthawk You are right on all counts. It was much worse 10 years or so ago and had shut it down. Tennessee is in the SEC and that is more accepted. I watch all of Arkansas BB and see the intimidation vibe a lot. My wife told me you can root for more than one team. I wouldn’t call it rooting and she had me call the hogs but she said no don’t do that again.

Self is really engaged with this team which doesn’t bode well for Uconn and beyond. It’s like he now has an option of subbing for specific outcomes instead of looking down the bench and hoping. I really liked Mbiya getting his bit of playing time. It seems he fills the whole lane and is gifted with coordinated movements and can jump. We may love him next year and beyond. Tiller is so long he barely needs to jump for a dunk. Rosario is not afraid to go to the hoop with attitude and hops.

Is there a leader or two on this squad? Elmarko was directing traffic coming down the court and pointing out get that guy on their fast break. I think he has been paying attention these last months. Do you notice he is always looking for a driving lane. White is able at hold a guy off and bank it in while Melvin likes the Tyshawn Taylor wider swoop down the right side. Tiller takes the more direct route and Flory likes the jam but can flip it too.

@Bosthawk I’m pretty sure Barnes told them to play the physical card and they got a little carried away. One guy pushed Tiller and he didn’t move they smacked White and Council Jr… Also Jamari and Elmarko plus everyone else. We kept our composure and made them pay. They hit several unconscious shots at the beginning and end of the half.

Looking at the head shot of DP during the post game huddle behind Self his expression was like #### what is going on. Might make the rehab feel better.

@benshawks08 I mean they put a Gatorade towel on Self’s head during the TV blurb while Self was saying… I had been on them for being soft but they weren’t today.

Elmarko had been shelved by injury and not being very effective but even when he was down he kept plugging, shooting, driving and playing defense. I bad mouthed him because i’m a big whiny prima Donna. He knew he was a 5 star McD all american and just kept at it and bingo. Now we have a big strong point guard along with another big strong point guard in Melvin Council Jr. and a bigger stronger 3 guard in Tre White. All three are just fearless because they are as good or better each game than their opponents and keep pushing the Jayhawk envelope. Seeing these quiet and confident veteran guys loving each other is … Don’t forget that Tennessee played bully ball and got away with it. Just ask Jamari who ain’t scared and is effing good himself. When Elmarko dribbled down the sideline in front of the scorers table and got hip checked off the court by the same guy who threw Jamari down like a pissed off golfer helicoptering his driver Elmarko somehow flew by, picked up his dribble and left old hip check in the dust.

Tiller wasn’t scoring but just pulled down 8 boards he is a luxury to us. And even Mbiya saved us by being heads up picked up Elmarko’s fumble and one big step and wham.

@RockChalkinTexas More and more each month. It’s a bunch of hidden fees. $60 resort fees, $30 parking fees, $12 coffee. $5 bottled water. High minimum bets on blackjack. Etc.

Flory is not focused and he’s hurried.

RE: Players Era Bologna Tourneyposted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
@SlimShaddy54 Ament is a 6’11" 207 freshman top recruit who had a lousy shooting game against Houston. He can score board and pass. Their roster is loaded with two more 6’11" 245 bruisers who score and board. Barnes said in the off season they would focus on getting an inside game and they did. They got their scoring down low against Houston while avenging last years loss. They have a big guard lock down defender in 6’4" Boswell. They are a much different team than Syracuse and shoot shoot FG’s at 50% and 36% from three. We will learn a lot about Tiller and Flory and must make our shots better than we have been. If we can score over 35 in both halves we can keep it close and 80 would make me hopeful. An early season chance to prove we belong.

RE: Players Era Bologna Tourneyposted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
When was the last game we were +20 in rebounds. Nice job. We have played seven games and Tiller is already an impact player. Is there anyway he doesn’t remain a starter? We can see how he handles a physical game against a Rick Barnes led team.

RE: Players Era Bologna Tourneyposted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
Poor Syracuse. The Big XII invited them to Thanksgiving dinner and they got feasted on. If you are on the Kansas roster but not currently in the rotation there is still room for you. Say hay Samis we can use a super athletic 6’8" wing who plays above the rim.

RE: Players Era Bologna Tourneyposted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
Tiller makes a ton of difference for Flory as teams cannot fudge because Tiller requires a lot of attention. Tre White’s size advantage when he gets to the rim is score or foul him and fouling him is a bad idea and he can bang and board and will do that. Melvin is going to start hitting threes better than now. Plus he plays hard and unselfishly. Tiller can be a 20 and 10 guy can he not? What will we be with DP? Damn good that’s what. Chemistry is evident. Who of these has made the most difference? Doesn’t matter.

@ImmunoHawk He showed up on both ends. Tough

Vols and we handled Syracuse better than Houston.

RE: Players Era Bologna Tourneyposted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
Two teams ND and Cuse kept coming at us over and over and they’d get it to five or seven but we fought them off with a team that has only played a few games together. Impressive. These types of games probably will pay dividends. Flory what the heck you are playing like a top AA and turn it over seven times.

RE: Players Era Bologna Tourneyposted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
Our only points are from inbound plays or offensive rebounds. Yikes.
-
RE: Players Era Bologna Tourneyposted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
Ugly game shaping up. Both teams hold opponents below 40% and 30% shooting percentage. A slow start and trying to play catch up against teams like these makes keeping it close sounds wise.

RE: Players Era Bologna Tourneyposted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
@BShark I will say Jamari played hard nosed and fearless today.

RE: Players Era Bologna Tourneyposted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
Watching Bill engage with this team in the huddle I think he is really into it and likes them. And the players are having some fun and believing in themselves.

RE: Players Era Bologna Tourneyposted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
You plug in DP over Rosario and we are a problem for any team. We have been calling on Tre to be as good as he was last year and he is proving to be even better I mean a big guard who can score inside and get tough rebounds. We didn’t know what we were going to get in Tiller but I don’t think we expected a dominating paint player like this. Over the summer pundits said Flory would be one of the most improved centers this year but his stat line today was holy smokes. So Melvin Counsel Jr comes along and asserts himself today and shows his natural gifts are under control and flourishing. Our defense is pretty darn good also.

I have to go out until later. Amari gets 8 pts and we hit 8 thrtees. O/U? Have fun.

Sir Isaac Newton vs the Pope and history will repeat itself according, notwithstanding a brutta figura, to the Church of Zab. Isaac Newton had scruples and we have Flory and Henry VIII. This is not football after all. Even in this ADP era ESPN -4.5 and 74%. I got my knowledge from living in St. Mary’s in 1965/1966. I blended right in but my brother had several fist fights. Issac Newton math says 80-75 Jayhawks. Elmarko you have at least three more games to make a more positive impact.

RE: Duke Gameposted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
I can’t help but think of our guys and Self himself being encouraged by how they came together and played well. Can you see the high upside of young Bryson becoming a real force who can dominate and score with his soft touch and get the eff out of my way drives to the basket. The radio guys said the team was re-measured last week and Tiller is a legit 6’11 now. Oppo coaches telling a guard that you can draw an offensive foul by getting set in front of Tiller as he drives down hill okay? How much was my NIL coach? Yeah well I need a raise. And a sassy teammate adding “you need a raise and an ambulance.”

Our conference is a freaking bulldozer OMG. Zona slapped Hurley and UConn plus Florida and UCLA.

RE: Duke Gameposted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
He has that Tyshawn wide right layup bank in shot. Hard as hell to defend.

RE: Duke Gameposted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
Headline in NYT DP’s having his hamstring re-evaluated after missing the Duke game. Self said he will have it re-evaluated later this week. I guess he visits a doctor? He has tightness from a slight strain which is causing the tightness. The cramping issues from earlier have subsided. We will wait and see if he can make the ND game Monday afternoon. I’m guessing he is being treated daily so does slight strain equal a slight chance. The RICE method of Rest, Ice, Compression and elevation that leads to gentle stretching leading to easy exercising. It can take from a few days to several months to heal. Running and leaping are strong stressors. DP will have to follow a full rehab to get strong enough to be in practice or game shape so being very careful with him will lead to what? Early 2026? IDK.

RE: Duke Gameposted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
If we had made just four more treys we would end at a 38% clip and likely changed the game.

That’s alright Jayhawks you played tough and hard. Thanks.
