KU is the #2 seed. They will play the winner of Iowa St/Oklahoma, Thursday at 6:30pm.

1st game likely vs OU

KU would play the winner of the Texas Tech/Texas if they beat OU Friday Night, either 6:30 or 9:30

Oklahoma St plays West Virginia

Baylor plays winner of K-St/TCU

Championship game- 6pm Saturday

Mar 08, 2021 05:19 PM #2

@BeddieKU23 6:30 or 5:30 central?

Mar 08, 2021 06:09 PM #3

@Crimsonorblue22

Believe its Eastern listed

Mar 08, 2021 09:22 PM #4

Heard this on the local sports - kind of interesting, here is some tidbits for you : - -Did you realize that KU will be the ONLY Big 12 team that right now that Bracketology - -ok , KU is the ONLY team in the Big 12 that will be or have a higher seeding in the Big 12 tourney then in the NCAA tourney - -crazy.

Then they were talking that they think just because KU this year does not have that normal typical flashy team that they are being shafted because at this moment they are saying at of all the projections they have seen KU is a # 4 seed - - - Yet KU is 6-8 in Quad 1 wins & 3-0 in Quad 2 wins & no bad losses While they have Villanova higher Houston higher while only playing 3 quad 1 games & has bad loss - they have WV higher with I think they said 6-7 quad 1 - -it's a mess - - like others were saying they just ought to go off resume - for me though it doesn't matter we gona have to play some tough teams along the line anyways but is kind of crazy. KU lower seeds then teams with worse Quad 1 records and Quad 2 loss and Bad losses. - -I was trying to write down as they were saying but couldn't keep up

Mar 08, 2021 09:50 PM #5

@jayballer67 A big part of KU's issues in seeding is that KU is only 1-7 in games against at large caliber teams away from AFH and that win came back in December against Tech.

If KU can beat OU and then Texas/Tech in KC and reach the title game, then we can start talking about moving KU up to a 3 seed.

Mar 08, 2021 10:08 PM #6

David Mc Cormack & Marcus Garrett 2nd team All Big 12. - - - Garrett 1st team all defensive team & McCormack most improved player in the Big 12

Mar 08, 2021 10:59 PM #7

@jayballer67

Hopefully Garrett gets DPOY again. He deserves it

Mar 09, 2021 12:10 AM #8

@BeddieKU23 feels like he started slow. Been very very good on D of late

Mar 09, 2021 12:28 AM #9

@approxinfinity

Definitely. His performance on Butler though should be the performance that resignates with voters. He is absolutely in lockdown mode right now

I would love to see it again , but I don't think it's gonna happen, probably Mitchell from Baylor

Mar 11, 2021 10:27 AM #11

Oklahoma won last night.

Mar 11, 2021 02:44 PM #12

@BeddieKU23 they looked pretty good.

Mar 11, 2021 02:50 PM #13

@Crimsonorblue22

anyone can against ISU

Mar 11, 2021 03:31 PM #14

Oklahoma didn't really look that good to me. - they are ok - -like Beddie said it's was Iowa State and still only won by 6 - - Iowa State 2-22 for the year - -sure wouldn't be thumping my chest to hard if I were Oklahoma

Just like K-State - -beating TCU - - not much - their season is over tonight too playing Baylor - - GOOD NIGHT thanks for stopping by

Mar 11, 2021 06:28 PM #15

two pump fakes too many for WVU at the buzzer

Mar 11, 2021 06:59 PM #16

That probably opens up a 3 seed line for someone.

Mar 11, 2021 07:45 PM #17

@Kcmatt7 Okie St will most likely move to the 3 line

Mar 11, 2021 07:51 PM #18

Wow KSU playing hard. Should be tied. Bad charge call on a flop in transition.

Mar 11, 2021 07:59 PM #19

As much as it pains me to say, KSU looks better than they did two months ago. A lot better.

Mar 11, 2021 08:00 PM #20

They do. Baylor probably has a hard time getting up for a game like this as well.

Mar 11, 2021 08:02 PM #21

That’s true. Before back to back threes I was going to say KSU defense has really been the story of the game, but well, there’s a lot of time left haha

Mar 11, 2021 08:04 PM #22

Why are we still talking about a foul Butler got away with.

This is where Bilas is at least honest.

Mar 11, 2021 08:20 PM #23

Looks like KSU came to play. Appreciate the hustle.

Too many turnovers though. They look to be at their ceiling, while Baylor is underperforming.

Mar 11, 2021 08:26 PM #24

I'll say this and no one in here is in love with K-State BUT I am going to give credit where due. - -Bradford for K/State is going to be a nice player for them before it is all said and done. - -Got Bulk , - -Got Height and as he develops more could be tuff guard. - -15 points in the 1t half. - K/State played a nice half , Baylor 13 1st half turnovers - -2nd half gonna be a different story though.

Mar 11, 2021 08:35 PM #25

So who do we think we play the 5 and take Dave's spot tonight ? - -do we still go 4 around 1 with Mitch ? - -do we go all 5 out using Bryce ? - -Do you think there is anyway we would see Jethro AT ALL tonight ? - -I am actually leary of Grant Foster , forces a lot seems like , looks like a turnover machine. - I realize he more likely to play but just got to play solid

Mar 11, 2021 08:49 PM #26

Bruuuuuuuuuce

Mar 11, 2021 09:13 PM #27

Who comes back in the big 12 next yr? Baylor players?

Mar 11, 2021 09:28 PM #28

KSU played hard but had a couple of calls not go their way.

Mar 11, 2021 09:37 PM #29

@Kcmatt7 said in Big-12 Tourney:

KSU played hard but had a couple of calls not go their way.

ya know right towards the end with like a minute to go and they throw to pack and the guy DOES FOUL him and he just threw it up trying to get free throws? - -he truly was fouled. I mean it just threw it up , thinking they was going to call it - -clearly was a foul you could see in the replay - -just kin dof dum on his part - - and YET not dum - the refs blew that call - -if he got shots it would of made it a 2 point game instead of going to 4 when K/State has to foul

Mar 11, 2021 10:15 PM #30

@Crimsonorblue22 ICould be wrong, but I think that Baylor is pretty much going to lose their entire starting five to either the draft or graduation.

Mar 11, 2021 10:24 PM #31

@Marco

4 out of 5 it looks. Thamba is young still.

Flagler, Thamba, Mayer, Chimmy Changa, of those playing for them right now should be back.

With Mitchell and Butler projected first round they have to go. Vital finally leaves, Teague makes a living somewhere, G-League or overseas

Mar 11, 2021 10:26 PM #32

KU, from the way it looks today, should be top dogs again next season.

If we land a PG who can actually play, I would say that is basically a lock.

Mar 11, 2021 11:06 PM #33

@Kcmatt7

Yeah pg away if 4/5 of the starting 5 returns.

Mar 11, 2021 11:07 PM #34

Coach just said in pre-game - -we will start Mitch if they go big - - we will go Bryce if they go small

Mar 11, 2021 11:10 PM #35

Vital might come back🤣

Mar 12, 2021 04:32 AM #42

Look like it will be ku and Texas

Mar 12, 2021 04:54 AM #43

How do we guard sims?

Mar 12, 2021 05:04 AM #44

@DanR Just what you wished for! It would be fantastic to get TX back after losing twice. But it would suck to lose to Shaka 3 times in one season. Ok St is the only other team that swept Self in a Big 12 season, both home and away, and I don't think we played them in the Big12 tourney. I don't want Shaka to be the first. But it's a weird season, so I wouldn't give him any credit anyway.

Mar 12, 2021 05:05 AM #45

@Crimsonorblue22 I was thinking the same thing. Can we win without Dave? We did great against TX last game when Dave was on the bench first half, but Sims was also on the bench. 2nd half was not fun with both in the game, but nobody else could guard Sims. He's not a huge scorer for their team overall, but we don't match well against him without Dave.

Mar 12, 2021 05:12 AM #46

@tundrahok good question. We had them and they came back. One thing, Mitch is better, offensively, the last few games. Ewwww idk

Mar 12, 2021 10:06 AM #47

Its not really sims, its a combination of the athletic ability of Sims, Brown and Jones that we have zero answer for.

Mar 12, 2021 10:19 AM #48

Mar 12, 2021 05:11 PM #52

I apologize guys from the get go , hate to be the Negative Nelly , however this is the worst Scenario for us. - -I mean just terrible match ups across the board even more so with Dave being out. - -I mean we have zero answer for Sims - -who is going to match up with him ? - You figure you have Garrett on Coleman , Oachi on Andrew Jones I figure those to are givens - - I guess you can always try to play Wilson on Sims - - - not good - -who the hell is Braun going to defend ? - just a bad situation , Texas long /Big/Athletic/

Do we try and Zone some ? - -you take your chance they are not hitting their 3's - they CAN get rolling from the 3 - -They got Jones that shoots well , Kia Jones can drain the 3 - -you got Feberes - -Coleman so just hope they are off I dunno think it could be a Loooooong night. - -

What the hell has happened to Braun ? - -he has become non exsistant at the wrong time. Averaging under 10 a game now - if we want any chance tonight we have to have all hands on Deck. - - If we even to hope to do ANYTHING in the NCAA'S - Braun has to got to shake out of this funk - -We got to get Wilson out of this funk - -just don't know BUT tonight? - -doesn't look good

Mar 12, 2021 06:48 PM #58

Thing is it was someone who played in last nights game , which means anyone around him has now been exposed

Not sure how the season isn't over. How does this work? 7 days of neg tests for remaining players? At least we got 20 wins.

Baylor should just forfeit and head back to Waco and try to stay intact for the Big Dance.

Mar 12, 2021 07:41 PM #93

Just a hunch, but there are probably 2 reasons these cases are happening:

1) The restrictions have been loosening for about 3 weeks.. and the incubation period is 2... So.. math.
2) The testing is now centralized by the conferences and NCAA rather than being administrated by each school. Not sure if there are higher standards or if this just means tests weren't as rigorously conducted...

Mar 12, 2021 07:46 PM #94

So, if we get invited to the Big Dance does that still count in KU's streak, or do we actually have to show up to play a game. Hmmm.

Mar 12, 2021 07:46 PM #95

@FarmerJayhawk so can a player be cleared for the 2nd game of the ncaa's if he was out the first game? Will they let them join their team?

Mar 12, 2021 07:52 PM #96

@Crimsonorblue22 I'm not sure the rule there. I guess I don't see why not?

Mar 12, 2021 07:53 PM #97

there just winging it at this point anyway

Mar 12, 2021 07:55 PM #98

The way this year is going...the NCAA is probably calling the IARP right now to release the conclusion associated with the $2500 Silvio payment and for letting Preston to play in an exhibition game stating that KU has been given the following:

death penalty for 2 years,

a reduction to only 1 scholarship player for the next 5 and increasing an additional scholarship by 1 every 5 years thereafter

player admittance into KU will no longer be in KU's court; however, the NCAA will require a perfect 36 on the ACT and speak fluent English with accents and hyperboles from all 50 states and perfect Hindi language from all counties in India

vacating all wins in the bill self era

reverse course on the previous probation decisions that Roy got us and vacate all those wins too.

NCAA rewrites history and, in collaboration with ESPN, to provide Duke with all the legendary history such as Duke's 1988 run to the championship with Dannys and the miracles (and Ferry will be on the cover of SI)

And then announce Ok. State's penalty is reversed and a public apology issued by the NCAA

Arizona charges dropped and Sean Miller named coach of the Year

Names Images and Likeness all approved

I just read that KU BB team is staying in KC to prep for the NCAA tourney. So is the positive player Dave or Tristan? I thought they just stayed in Lawrence due to contact tracing protocols, not a positive test (as of yesterday). Seems like if it was a player in last night's game, we'd definitely be history for the season.

Just weird to not have more details. I'm sure Oklahoma isn't too happy either.

Mar 12, 2021 08:12 PM #111

@DanR That is what I was getting at earlier. Did they contract the virus in KC? I don't know.

Mar 12, 2021 08:13 PM #112

I think Jalen and Tristan are buds, so that was kind of who I was suspecting.

How does the 7 straight days thing work. If everyone but Jalen tested negative for the past 60+ days, yesterday and today, then continue to be negative through next Wednesday/Thursday what's the prob?

Mar 12, 2021 09:53 PM #138

The bright side is we don't have to take another pounding from Texas. There... I said it.

Mar 12, 2021 10:11 PM #140

OK, now Self says there were three positives, including Tristan and Dave (who up until now, I'd thought were isolated due to contact tracing, but maybe I missed something)

Self still planning to go to Indy with all but the three players... yeah, we'll see.

Mar 12, 2021 10:16 PM #142

Gary Bedore has said that Coach Self told him that THREE PLAYERS will not travel with the team to Indy on Monday. Now don't know who that maybe , Could be the two Tristan & Dave plus the other player that played last night - - - Could be some walk on's. whoever.

Matt Tait Tweeted out everything he is hearing was sounding positive that KU will play in the tourney. - -only takes 5 healthy players, sounds like as long as we have 5 healthy players - - were playing. could be Harris Braun , Jethro , Tehan , Oachi whatever but as long as we have FIVE - -saying the fan base deserve it - -the players deserve it - would probably drop to a 12 or 13 seed if it's walk on's and such with a couple af regulars what a mess. -- Marcus is Jalens room mate being told Lordy

Not directly with us, but thinking with Texas just automatically sliding into Championship because of our COVID - - this is going to be a rested Texas team night off , while Oklahoma State and Baylor battling it out, might give Texas a little edge plenty of rest

I don’t understand how the NCAA had a year to prepare for this and didn’t plan to have a 14 day period of team bubble isolation after selected teams made the field. Some reason college basketball can’t figure this out. Every other sport has been smooth sailing. it’s not just ku but Virginia maybe too, and easily could happen to others. They had no plan in place to figure this out if this happened, no flex schedule etc. fingers crossed we can go and our players remain safe

Mar 13, 2021 02:10 AM #166

This has been talked about at least locally a lot today - - I know it's been brought up National too. That is now do we think that in the future , do we think we will see the elimination of Conference post Season tourneys? - -This COVID seems like it would all fuel to that fire - you really have nothing to gain from these things , other then just another trophy. - -A true Champion of a Conference is determined over the Course of the Season - - NOT a 3 /4 day weekend tourney.

The Consencus seems like we are going to see many Conferences do away with post season tourneys or teams will opt out of them. - I would have to agree

So the way I'm grasping this at this point and what we know or pretty much seems the case is - - That Jalen is the one with the COVID, which IF that is truly the case then means IF we do indeed make the tourney , we would be without Jalen this opening weekend right ?

Then Coach Self is saying that David McCormack and Tristan Enaruna will not go to Indy with the team on Monday , which in turn if they are just in protocol/meaning not necessarily they tested positive but more likely contact tracing -so if that's the case and they would test negative would then fly up to Indy later in the week right ? to join the rest of the team right ?

Matt Tait just tweeted that there is optimism that KU will participate in the tourney. Not a sure thing, but looks better than 50% chance.

There are a lot of questions swirling like "What will the team look like? Who will be ineligible?"

But I just asked Tait if the NCAA will adjust the seeding based on who is eligible and he said "They'll seed on KU's entire body of work & put them where they belong. Win over OU helped. Not playing last night didn't hurt."

According to ESPN who talked with the Commissioner of this I guess and it says: - -After the tourney bracket has been announced - - teams will not be re-seeded so if were eligible and get picked whatever seed we get put at - - that's where we will stay no matter who from the team goes to Indy
