Gonzaga #1 (55 first place votes), UCLA #2 (8 first place votes), KU, Nova, Texas, Michigan, Purdue, Baylor, Duke, Kentucky round out the Top 10.
No other Big-12 teams made the Top 25. Michigan St- is ranked #26 (KU's first matchup)

Out of the Top 10 Duke has to be the most overrated don't they? They only have 10 scholarship players. One of their prized freshman has an injury. No one returned that averaged 10ppg. Good grief voters.
Baylor at 8 is high considering all they lost. Good recruiting class + a good transfer to keep them competitive. If they are a Top 10 team then Drew has just built a winning culture all of a sudden.
Hard to make an early judgement on so many of these teams with the roster turnover that's occurring

Baylor at 8 is about where they should be. They still have a lot of good, experienced players back on top of a loaded recruiting class. I agree that Duke is pretty overrated. I would've had them in the 15-20 range personally. I also think Memphis is pretty overrated based on what Penny has actually accomplished with some pretty talented teams. He has to get them in the tournament this year if he wants to keep his job I'd imagine.

Juzang coming back is why they're 2 right now. Him coming back was big time for them and does make them a legit title contender this season. Returning every relevant player from a Final Four team is a big deal.
We see incoming freshman inflate rankings all the time. No doubt it's benefited KU in the past. Voting this early tends to be a crapshoot at times
I think they have us right where we need to be. I have no problem with the top 5 period. - -Big 12 has 3 in the top ten I can live with that

And we also saw last season how much experience matters and UCLA has a crap ton of experience that now has Final Four experience. They absolutely deserve their preseason ranking right now.

100000 % agree - - UCLA is exactly where they should be Tons of experience was a little talk earlier that they made a strong case as the # 1 team - not sure about that but they are deserving of their ranking as much as anyone else is
Really doesn't matter a whole hell of a lot anyways - -It's where you FINISH , not where you start - all Pre seasons rankings for is more or less people patting themselves on the back saying look at us we are ranked Number - -blah , blah , blah.
At the end of the year which would you rather have? that pre-season # 1 # 2 # 3 so on and so on OR the NCAA Championship trophy ? - Team tell you ok you go talk your smack about being the # 1 pre-season ranking throwing all that shade - - main while back at the Ranch we will take our NCAA title trophy and go home and have a nice night roflmao
This is the 10th straight year KU has been ranked in the Top 10 preseason
I expect no less than a total roller coaster ride in D1 this year. We don't even know if Covid will be back with a vengeance and create a major disruption.
I think, finally, more people are grasping the importance of experience on teams. At least, I hope Kansas and Self do. With the transfer rules and portal in high gear, Self can really stick with a formula of going after quality, experienced players. Actually, with this current setup Self can truly be judged for his ability to recruit the right kind of talent. No excuses now... except for URP! (lol)
The reason why I am so high on KU this year? Experience! And no pre-Madonna 18 yr old we have to rely on who steels all the oxygen in the room away from upperclassmen and creates tons of unneeded drama! I see only a very rare reason to grab one. If the next JoJo comes along... by all means... otherwise. No!
Snagging a top experienced, proven PG? Are you kidding me? Remy was the catch of the year in D1!

Love the optimism and I'll raise it a different way. We got 3 dudes (Remy, Ochai, Dave in the Top Tier nationally at their position. Those 3 should go toe-to-toe with any matchup. No reason that trio shouldn't get 40+ a night. They are not perfect but there's no question we should feel some confidence having that kind of firepower and experience at those positions. That should in theory allow Wilson/Braun/Harris/Yesufu/Coleman-Lands to fill in certain roles around them. We'll see how it all fits but on paper it sure looks optimistic.

I agree , kind of the wall a little side tid bit from another KU site pretty cool I mean doesn't help us in game conditions just something I saw. It was a video of Dave with some other players and Dave throws the dam basketball from the base line full court and SWISH nothing but net lol. I starts yelling I TOLD YOU - - I TOLD YOU - - THAT'S WHAT I DO lol - - but Mercy is that guy Buffed holy crap he looks good. - NOTHING like when he came in his freshman year. You remember how kind of awkard and sped up WAY to much - -look at him now - - mercy
Interesting looking back at our bench last year. 1,555 minutes from the collection of Harris, Mitch, TGF, Bryce, Enaruna. They scored 393 points total combined. Yesufu & Coleman-Lands last year scored 726 points combined and they are expected to be have big roles off the bench. Yesufu alone scored more points then the 5 Hawks did. The bench should produce a lot more this year.

Baylor lost Langston Love for the yr due to ACL. Was a fan of this one and he would have been a terror playing against. Huge blow for Baylor

Was Jalen Wilson's redshirt a medical or was it considered a regular redshirt because he played in a regular season game as a freshman and still redshirted.

Was Jalen Wilson's redshirt a medical or was it considered a regular redshirt because he played in a regular season game as a freshman and still redshirted.
I think that was a regular since he played all of 15 seconds. They’ll give you some leeway if it’s injury related. The medical would kick in if god forbid he tore his ACL scrimmaging Tulsa and lost a second year to injury. He would have to petition the NCAA for another year when his eligibility runs out after the 2025(!) season. The old Jalen Coleman-Lands redshirt trifecta.

Blake Hinson of Iowa St quit the team. Sat out last yr after transferring in. Was a good player at Ole Miss. Jeez
