Gotcha. I'm not on most of those media platforms so I have no idea what's going on and I have no friends. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Would be pretty funny if the Morrii ended up with a co-head coaching position down the road a few years.

Mar 18, 2022 07:36 PM #8

Along w/Brady? Spells trouble.

Mar 18, 2022 07:37 PM #9

Be cool to have all lil future Jayhawk players, get Trob too.

Mar 18, 2022 09:00 PM #10

I think the Morris twins would be great as coaches. They have had the opportunity to play in a lot of different systems in the pros, so they know the game better than most. I think they could do well with player development because they arrived at KU still needing some polish, and definitely not looking like they would be 10 year pros. They would relate well to younger guys, I think, as well.

They have been stars (in college), role players, starters, bench guys, etc., so they could relate to just about any player situation because they have experienced it. And they know what it takes to move up and down that scale.

Marcus will make over $100M in his career by the time its all said and done. Kieff probably makes $50M+, so they each have different experiences in even the pros that make them relatable. Kieff also has a championship ring, which always looks good.

@tis4tim you don't count us?

Mar 18, 2022 10:45 PM #12

@justanotherfan I 100% want them on the KU bench if they are serious about it.

There's already been a report about they are working on their new contract And it's not officially yet when the contracts will be done but they will be done

Nobody is arguing with you about those two receiving contract extensions. That also doesn't change that the IARP decision could very possibly include a show-cause label for Kurtis Townsend which means he would not be able to coach at KU, or any other NCAA member school, for the duration of that show-cause penalty. These are not mutually exclusive things. Townsend can both receive an extension from KU and still get hit with a show-cause penalty prohibiting him from coaching for a period of time at KU.

Mar 20, 2022 08:28 PM #23

Show cause does not mean he cannot work at KU or anywhere. Just means school has to demonstrate how they will ensure compliance with any restrictions imposed, and, if new violations are committed, the school would get blasted even if they didn't know.

That said, almost all coaches do lose their jobs because the restrictions are very limiting, and because the penalties for new violations are so draconian.

Looking at instances of coaches getting show causes, I still don't see the types of violations in KU's case that would warrant one.

It still comes down to whether KU can be required to supervise employees of Adidas due to imputed agency arising out of alleged status as a booster. Two levels of imputed status, all arising out of relationships ubiquitous in college athletics. All other cases involve actual conduct by school employees; KU's is the only one where no money flowed through a school employee or with the employee's knowledge.

Mar 20, 2022 08:52 PM #24

@mayjay Go look at what NC State got from the IARP. KU's ruling is likely to be very similar to that case because the NC State case had a lot in common with KU's case. There were two show-cause penalties handed out in that case. Don't be shocked if both Self and Townsend get show-cause penalties once that ruling comes down.

Mar 20, 2022 09:44 PM #25

@Texas-Hawk-10 Again, NCState employees were actively involved.

Mar 20, 2022 09:47 PM #26

@Texas-Hawk-10 To wit:

"The primary Level I violation centered on a $40,000 payment that was accepted and delivered to Smith’s family from Adidas through Early to secure Smith’s commitment to the University.

"Other Level I violations included knowing involvement in allowing additional complimentary admissions eligibility as well as Gottfried’s failure to oversee the actions of Early, and Early’s failure to cooperate with the investigation."

Early was assistant head coach.

I fully expect for both to get show Cause and I fully expect Townsend t be let go - forced out whatever you want to call it. I think some people are more naive or just don't want to think about it- -and then when IT DOES happen they gonna be like -wait umm no - -uh what ? - -I think Townsend will be the one who between him and Coach will be dealt the worst

Mar 21, 2022 04:39 PM #28

You do know @mayjay was a judge? Certainly not naive!

Mar 21, 2022 08:06 PM #29

@jayballer67 Please show me any actual evidence of anyone on the KU staff handling money or arranging adidas payments.

Go ahead...look everywhere. I will wait.

Anyway I was only pointing out first, a show cause does not require termination, and second, how the NCSt case was not similar to ours. If we get hit for something else (like doing something stupid a la L Brown not cooperating in the investigations for both his KU and UCLA violations) that would be a different story.

not up to me to show - - I'm not the one they are investigating-- you go ahead and wait lol, cause afterall weight is what broke the wagon down. Then when Townsend is let go holla

Look I'm not going to get into some grade school pissing contest ovr this. just sit back and see how it plays out- it's crazy I don't have the time to keep going back and forth, I have more important things to worry about other then seeing who is going to get the last word in about this -w shall see - If he is guilty then he deserves to walk unless you want to fall into the same area as people like to talk smack on other institutions when they are under investigation. - If you think KU is squeaky clean in this thing then I'm sorry and good luck - we might maybe get lucky and not get caught doubtful but maybe - -anyways I'm done likeI said I'm not doing this- -Now if you feel the need to continue - -you knock yourself out- -but not with me . -You have expressed your opinion and to that I say thanks. - -Have a great night

Mar 22, 2022 12:27 AM #35

Guilty until proven guilty or innocent after an investigation as long as I can remember seeing eon go on. Even though there have been many billable hours paid so far it's in the hands of an impartial panel. Of course it isn't impartial if you are protecting the field from an alleged bad actor's actions.
I don't know all the facts and my earnest wish that KU be exonerated disqualifies me as an arbiter. I just cannot see the NCAA leaders admitting they are wrong.
