The worst is confirmed, ruptured achilles

@BShark

Sucks for him. Very good player and would have been a really tough matchup defensively

Great for us😁

35 mpg to replace on a team that goes 7 deep. Good thing the 38 timeouts save them just a bit

Hate to see a player go down like that. But what else can go KUs way during this tourney?

Mar 28, 2022 12:24 AM #5

Collin Gillespie can't go 40 mins on that knee. Running is good, guessing they'll crawl and try really hard not to foul.

@Eric-san

Really. Luck is always a part of this, if for no other reason than your guys staying healthy... but we've caught breaks throughout this tourney.

I still wouldn't sleep on Nova. Wright and troops are so capable.

I hope Self realizes that the two games he’s put Juando on their best player and not switched we are like 55 points better or something. He did the same thing against Pack/KSU and that was the key to the comeback.

Should do the same thing against Villanova. Bottle up Gillespie, much like Houston did. Let Samuels get his points. Without Moore, I don't think they can get enough points elsewhere. Gillespie is really the only one who is otherwise capable of going off, but he can be stopped if you focus on him.

@Kcmatt7

You can be sure that is part of the reason he gets so many minutes. He is being molded as a defensive guard. Not quite a Garrett... but let's see where he is by his senior year!

I like Harris on Gillespie, the way he Saran wrapped McGusty was impressive, and McGusty I would argue has more skills than Gillespie and is more athletic.

Out of the past few meetings, this is the one time I think we have a higher ceiling and a bit more explosiveness than Nova. Plus, our perimeter defensive effort is much better than it was in 2018. I rewatched highlights of the game and was amazed at the night and day difference between the 2018 team and the one we saw this past weekend as far as getting out on shooters.

Hopefully we can turn the tables on them this time. We are certainly due for a great shooting night and Saturday would be a great time for it.

Statistically the loss of Moore is just huge. At 6'4, 210 pounds he's a lot in the mold of Ochai Agbaji physically, he's a 'big' guard. Athletic, skilled and poised. Big shot taker, Big Shot maker is what I've seen out of him consistently.

Season averages- 34.6 mpg, 14.8 ppg, 4.8 reb pg, 75% FT, 35% 3pt fg (80 made 3's) 2nd on the team. In the tournament 13ppg, 47% 3ptfg (10 made).

There's no question he's the 1A to Collin Gillespie on this team. He played in 86% of minutes on the season on a team that plays 6 guys & sprinkles in a reserve guard as the 7th guy + a freshman guard used similarly to Zach/Yesufu on the season. They had zero depth and now have to bring their 6th man into the starting lineup.

Let Gillespie do his thing but no one else. One man team won't beat us.

I'd be curious to know how his knee is feeling... I'm not sure he will even be at 100% by Saturday either

Saw where the early line they got us and 5 . - as long as we are focused - mentally tough hopefully we good to go. - -I tell you there was ONE thing that I thought was good that came from Wichita - -that was a saying that Stevenson use to have thought it was sharp. - -MTXE - -mental toughness extra effort - -we take that with us - -we good

Why is the name Arcidiancano sticking out to me. I see he's a not oft used bench player for them but his name is SUPER familiar. Did he hit a big shot against us? Have a big game? Is he someone's brother? I'm seeing he hasn't averaged more than 2 points a game the entire time he's been at Nova. What's up here? Am I crazy? Did I experience some game in a different reality? Help me out please!

His brother was one who tore us a new one in 18.

@FarmerJayhawk Thank you. I thought I remembered that but it wasn't making since looking at his stats. Brother answers the question. He seems.... not as good as his brother.

@benshawks08

Yup as farmer said we got history with Archy. His brother isn't any good though.
