This is a real good game for us to get back to playing great defense. Kind of feel we haven't played with the defensive intensity recently that we showed in non-conf.

The OU game was the worst. We never stopped them. Clones have a crummy offense, so we should be able to shut them down. Now, can we score on them? Their defense is rated 6th in def eff on Kenpom, while we're 14th.

I admit I haven't watched them but a few minutes here and there. I always find them to be boring, and their coach always wears clothes that are about two sizes too small. I can't put my finger on it, but I find their team to be annoying. I'm torn between wanting them to win to remain relevant for the sake of the conference ( when they aren't playing us), or wanting them to get their ass kicked .

The 125th year celebration results in a nice win for us, as we begin our quest to knock down the pretenders, and assert our dominance. I'm saying we win 69-57.

Let's play this game like the Mayor, Fred Hoiberg is still coaching. I want to see the Iowa St fans cry when KU beats them.

I understand to a degree my friend. Yet K/State # 11 & TCU # 17 are both ranked teams and pretty good ranked teams at that , then we have our boys #2 KU and ranked # what nu 14 Iowa State. - just the way the cookie crumbled this week. Eric-san are you old enough to remember when games were only broadcast on the radio? Clear into the middle '80's I listened to Max and Bob call the games. Yes, ESPN+ is the armpit of video broadcasts, but I'm content to live with it for now. It will get better; eventually, we will experience the games in some sort of 3d holographic projection manner where we feel like we are present at the game.

This was the concern when we got him we knew he was a brick mason and that Self does not give a single shit. That said he is a better option than what we have on the bench by quite a bit in terms of overall game. When he does hit shots we are at our peak.

I think we all need to get ready for every game to be a nail biter from here on out. Glad we played them here first. Wins putting us on top at the beginning of conference makes it easier to take a L rather than having to win.

In 19 minutes, Bobby took no shots, scored no pts, had one assist, one steal and one TO. Not nearly enough for the opportunity he was given. Bench players must contribute or they stay on the bench.

Alabama, Connecticut, Houston, Kansas, Purdue, and UCLA are the legit contenders to me. Rick Barnes can't make it past the weekend and that's going back to his Texas days and I don't trust Texas with their coaching situation. If they still had Beard, I'd call them legit as well.

Against elite defenses like ISU, the Harris, Pettiford, Yesufu lineup to me is about ball handling and minimizing turnovers.

Didn’t seem as bad today, but scoring was challenging.

I’d say free throws won the game for us today. ISU made more FGs than us, but KU made 6 more FTs. Had we shot better than 60% from the line, maybe it wouldn’t have come down to one possession.

I'm not saying the 3 guard line up didn't turn it over because there were some, I'm just saying that protecting the ball against ISU's defense was likely Self’s logic in using that line up.

Watching the players post game interview on Kusports, and about the 3 minute mark Gradey was talking about the defense and he says “yea we were just sucking the D” and then slaps the table, and laughing and looking at KJ and JWill, and then they all try to suppress their laughter, but have the giggles for awhile. Pretty funny. Great bunch of kids having fun out there. And with a real shot at repeating the NC which would just be unimaginably sweet.

Anyone else notice TJ didn’t coach his team in timeouts? It was Green leading every huddle with tj standing back and listening….I found that odd because it happened all game not just a one off situation

I hate to be the Debbie Downer on peoples parade I love Ku just sa much as the next guy but I'm saying right now I truly believe we get beat Tuesday Night.

Like you said we have been eeking out wins to many one possession ball games , I worry that the guys thinking they can just turn it on anytime they want. - -We are getting into a routine of falling behind and then have to bust our ass to get back in it.

I love the fight and grit of the team but I just don't feel we are playing solid enough steady enough and one of these times that kind of play is going to come back and bite us right square in the ass. I know some will disagree with what I say and that's fine- -people are entitled to do so, just one persons opinion I just think it is set up perfect Tuesday - K/State playing really poorly , coming back home playing their big enemy - -KU /Rival - -the place is going to be ROCKIN/JUMPIN - and if they get on any kind of roll- - - - -I could be just as easily wrong to - -just feeling the way w are playing right now - -not terrible BUT not the best y far either - I just feel w are prime to get beat.

Plus on down the road if we don't get some kind of production from the bench get that reliable 6th /7th man come tourney time we be screwed

Not sure what @Jethro’s deal is he’s adding as much to the board as cardboard with these takes. Somehow it’s personal with the “yours not so much” as if you don’t 100% believe we will win every game you aren’t a true fan.

My thing is I try to be a realist too, not live behind Crimson & Blue shaded glasses 100 % daily. - -I've been here long enough and have known Jethro from here from the get go - -it's ok . All I know we are not playing solid ball - to many turnovers - -3 pt shooting not that great -Jalen not hitting shots like he was earlier in the /Season - - no bench. If we want to get anywhere in the tourney - -we have got to have a bench of some kind.

So happy and proud for him. - KJ has been real work horse. There has been quite a few times lately he has saved our tails. - The thing i like , he can defend the perimeter , his scoring is improving & the kid just flat hustles. He is not afraid to go to the floor and scrap for a loose ball. - He just does whatever is needed. - He can get a block at crucial times it seems , man could you imagine what he would be like if he was a couple of inches taller. - -I'm liking hi more and more all the thime , and the kid is built rock solid - -really stong - you don't see to mny pushing him around - -he is my MVP

If you notice in interviews he's quick to give others praise for his success! Most of our team is that way, key to our success and we hear that from game announcers too.

I’ve been negative as crap on here before but read similar stuff on other KU sites and wouldn’t block those users unless it’s true trolling (fire self now, we will never win another game ect).

@Crimsonorblue22 KJ is irreplaceable and even exceeded Bill’s plans. Heck Bill said in November he still had him on the wing but if the bigs couldn’t get it together he’d have no choice but kj at the 5. It’s worked like a dream honestly.
