What's everyone thinking and feeling?

For me I'm pretty confident we win.

A. It's at home
B. We've already lost one home conference game and how often does Bill lose two in a season?
C. Baylor already beat us and how often does Bill get swept?

My concerns are that those baylor guards are really good and with our current defensive philosophy, they can get pretty much any match up they want. Also, the guards are good enough to play one on one which is a style that doesn't necessarily lend itself to us turning them over a ton. Harris and Kev are both questionable in how effective they are going to be though I know both have said they will be ready. Baylor has one of the best offenses in the country so I could see this turning into a shoot out.

Overall, I think we win one of those classic saturday afternoon gameday games 89-82 with that 7 point margin being as big of a lead as anyone has all game.

AFH is the X-factor in this one.

Just play good D, and don't beat ourselves on the offensive end.

Baylor is the 78th best D according to Kenpom. Game plan is simple. Man tf up on D, and then play our game on O.

These are the games that Bill circles. He's going to have a turned up team and a turned up crowd, with lots of former stars in the house. I think we'll be electrifying. I think we'll win by double digits.

A little worried about mobility and ankles on our squad. Hoping Kevin and Dejuan are fit enough to not get worked on D. Both were limping pretty good.

Our biggest concern is , we just can't let these guards go off. Flaggler, George , Ol what's his name -got to contain them - they start draining all those dam three's and could become a problem fast.

I don't when that was recorded. Prob before the ankle problem.

Oh jeez! Kevin looks like a frosh! They're both coming back. Goofballs! Gotta be before the sprain.

Had the thought the other night but forgot to post. Thanks to our victory over OSU last fall, we've swept the season from the Cowboys for the first time in quite some time.

Injury update from Billy Eugene:

Kev and Juan banged up. Getting treatments. Hoping they practice Friday & if that's the case they will play Saturday. We know that's happening.

Bobby should be a bit healthier this weekend. Was used Tuesday because of Juan getting hurt but he's not 100%.

Zuby obviously available as he played big minutes Tuesday. Still working his way back to 100% as well.

Zach like 85% and will be eased back, he's available to play but with everyone else back they can be more careful with him. Knee is still bothering him.

Feeling confident, this could be an electric game. The crowd will likely be the loudest it's been all season & for good reason. Revenge game & obviously we need to win to stay in first place in the Conference race.

I'm just hoping I sleep tonight, I'm pumped for this one.

We need to find a way to take away one of their 3 guards from making 3's in bunches. Last game it was Cryer (5-11). He's 12-17 from 3 in his last 2 games & has avg 25 ppg.

Baylor is 35th in the country in attempts from 3 per game at 44% & because of that they are Top 15 in offensive rebounding rate so it's a two-prong battle. KU must limit 3's and board the long misses.

This time they have Every-Day John, Jonathan Tchamwa-Tchatchoua & he's given them a lift off the bench filing a role they had been missing. Baylor is full strength.

KU must attack this team in the paint, Baylor's block % is 269th in the country. Keep doing what they been doing, paint touch after paint touch and wear this team out.

Will he suit up? Pretty sure he has a couple years of eligibility left! Lol

I'm not too worried. We came close to beating them in their place as I recall. The 6th man, AKA Allan Field House, will bring home the victory.

The last time we beat OSU in football was 2007, but they dealt us one of our three losses in that magical basketball season. So the 1995-96 season was the last time we swept OSU in the two main sports.

We will need good bench performances... especially from Joe.. playing D! I think he could be our key player in this one because he is capable of gluing on to shooters and we need bench relief so our guards can go full tilt in this one for 40 minutes.

I know the focus is on guard play in this game... as it should be... but we have to look at what supports guard play. TEMPO! Rebounding! Steals! The same formula that worked on OSU except it's a much harder situation to get high TOs against a team like Baylor and their guards. But we have to keep the pressure high... high energy defense... and if we do that we will prevent them from a comfortable flow. Baylor is a great team... when their flow is there. But they can look horrible when playing out of sync.

So if we rebound well and force some TOs, we can get out and run and we are looking like one of the better teams in America in the open court!

We have to force OUR TEMPO in this game! Period!

@RockChalkinTexas that was interesting thanks for the share. I’ve heard some people push back on our all time wins record and say it’s that we’ve been around longer. But last 10 years shows more of the same dominance. It’s good to be a Jayhawk. And so glad we finally got another NC to go with all the wins.

A little surprised to see Baylor there, as I thought their winning so much was more recent, but glad the Big12 has another spot. I wonder if some of the others on that list play in conferences with weak teams that boost their numbers?

I didn't realize how slow Baylor played this year because they're usually a team that likes to run and play uptempo.

And Texas just because they don’t sell tickets to the upper portion of the arena for basketball games. They block it off. And it’s a much smaller brand new arena. They won’t sell out next year.

The statistics keep getting crazier

Managed to sleep to 5am today. Yeah I'm hyped for this one

Doesn't our switch defense work against us when a team like Baylor has 3 high scoring players, George(16 pts.), Flagler(16 pts), and Cryer(15 pts.)? Won't those 3 guards just move the ball on offense until they are guarded by KU's 4th or 5th worse defender on the floor and then that player goes to work? If Kevin is our best defender, why not assign him to the Bear with the hottest hand in the game to defend that scorer throughout the possession. It just seems like opposing teams wait for the KU's defensive switch, then make their offensive move or shot.

The keys are rebounding and turnovers IMO. In the first game we absolutely dominated every category but those two. We had 15 turnovers and gave up 17 offensive rebounds both of which lead to wide open dunks and layups. I think our first shot defense had improved a ton the last few weeks now we have to improve the rebounds to take another step on that end.

@dylans I’ve always wondered that I’ve been watching KU with my brothers my whole life and can remember back to 96 or 97 pretty well and don’t remember seeing the place not look full for the most part. Maybe an empty chair here or there for mid week Ivy League game.

I believe it was Pitt St. when KU still played the in-state D2 schools in the regular season and it was a winter storm that was the culprit in tge game not being a sellout.

Ok finally looked it up -
Wed, Nov 28, 2001 Pittsburg State - snowstorm game 16,100 folks in attendance. 200 shy of full. I am mildly surprised some local business didn’t do the Nebraska football thing and just buy the tickets to extend the streak.
