OMG now we got people having a stroke thinking LL is leaving.

Come on people eve time a new head Coaching job comes open and Leipold name comes up it's automatic - - Lance is gone. Geez Louise , now it's Washington, holy crap there are six Big 12 Coach's names that have been linked to that position , how much clearer does Coach L have to make it ?-- He has said multiple times , him and his Wife are really happy here, how well they have been treated by the University, and by the City of Lawrence, and I for one believe him. -Leipold , Klieman , Campbell , The BYU Hed Coach , Fish from Arizona , & I can't remember the other one ALL Big 12 Coach's mentioned for this job, plus GOD only knows how many others have been. This is what happens when you School has good Coaching, their name is always going to be mentioned when a job opens.

Different reasons why I think Lance isn't going anywhere. The biggest one I think is his age factor, Lance is older and has mentioned ready to settle, has mentioned about how he would like to retire in Lawrence.. I think he is fully invested in KU, and wants to see what he is building completed ( example - - the new Stadium ) - -the investment he has made to the players and getting this program turned around for a couple of reasons, & again he has said how happy they are here - -I believe that. - -Farmer what's your take , you think Lance is gone ?- - I just don't , I think actually Fish from Arizona or Washinton OC more of a chance. Farmer my friend what you think ? - - You usually have really good input, opinion , insight, insider info - -what you been hearing ? What you think ? - -Let me hear your thoughts.

Edit update , foot to mention that Jason Scheer who coves Arizona 247 sports has confirmed that yes Fisch has spoken with Washinton about the job, Age may very well like I said play a part too, Fisch is 47 & Leipold is 59, good chance Washinton might very well wn to go with younger. Fisch already on West Coast Experience. Fisch has been confirmed talking to Washington - -Leipold on the other hand has not. - -Some sources say that they beleive Fisch is their number one choice - -NOT LANCE. - -don't wory I trully belive Lance isn't going ANYWHERE.

LL reportedly turned down the job at Washington and is getting an extension at Kansas.

That is a huge win and also seems like good optics

Jan 14, 2024 08:19 PM #7

I got a notification from ESPN a little while ago saying he declined

So I guess the is some worry about Coach L and Michigan , now. just waiting to see who they end up with.- - -I am not to worried about that job myself, again I think he stays.

The reason or question I guess to challenge that would be I guess is - - -Coach was rumored for the Michigan St job, and he either said no , or he said he wasn't interested. So I guess I would have to ask on this would be, Is he if he is is it just specifically because it's in the state of Michigan ? - -If that was the case he had the chance to go to therre with Michigan St - OR was he specifically waiting for the Michian job?

I think he stays a Jay Hawk

@jayballer67 Michigan's OC is the front runner for that job if Harbaugh leaves. Players love him and he handled himself well as interim against Michigan's difficult final 3 game stretch.

Ya that's good to know for sure, I just didn't think he would leave for that. he has just stated to many times how much he likes it here, and how ewll they have been treated by the school and the city of Lawrence. I just think he wants to see the end result of this rebuild , and the new facilities. -Plus with him being 59 yrs old don't think he is looking to make many more moves. Ready to settle, I think if he was going to go , would of been much more worried for Wisconsin.

Lance isn’t going anywhere….Goff is the man and cfp playoff here we come!

Jan 20, 2024 08:07 PM #21

Really hate ATM. Hopefully they can at least win a title with all their insane spending, but I doubt it.

Jan 20, 2024 09:05 PM #22

Peterson is an Aggie alum so probably one few places he would leave KU to make a lateral move for. Hopefully KU can keep their Arizona recruits since Peterson was the guy recruited those players.

Losing JP is bigger than Kotelnicki. This could really, really suck.

We may have some Arizona kids asking for release , typical KU football luck if that happens. - -Like they say though this is what happens when you have good Coach's -they are gonna get ripped out by Bigge Schools, & Conferences. Not a good day

Peterson would rather be co-position coach than co-coordinator? Step down doesn’t speak well of KU’s prestige.

It's his alma mater and likely better pay than here. As much as people talk about why would anyone who's affiliated with KU want to leave here, A&M is one of those places as well and Mayne even more so than here because there is a running joke abiut Texas A&M being a cult.

@Texas-Hawk-10 Doesn’t give me the warm and fuzzies. Pretty much foretelling of KU’s future ineptitude once Lance is gone. Lawrence is not a football destination and no amount of money will change that.

Reality is what it is. This season was only KU's 7th time ever winning 9+ games in a season amd only the second time making a bowl game in back to back seasons.

Long term, post Leipold era, I'll be happy if KU can maintain as a program that can make a bowl game about 75% of the time (3 out of 4 years), and not change coaches every 3-4 seasons due to ineptitude.

Jan 21, 2024 06:14 PM #31

@Texas-Hawk-10 A bowl every 10 years or so is my expectations post liepold. Never been and never will be a powerhouse without a significant change.

In other words I’m enjoying the moment. Lance is a very good coach.

@dylans time to raise those. Travis Goff is the man. We’ve never had an AD who prioritizes football like Travis. And given the total mediocrity of this conference there’s no reason we can’t be near the top.

Also. The Desert Edge guys are solid. No worries there.

Dam Farmer I trust you, you say no worries good enough for me man. -That would suck to lose those guys --- Thanks

Harbaugh officially going to the Chargers. Current Michigan OC Sherrone Moore is the heavy favorite to replace Harbaugh. Should something fall through there, Leipold's name will likely get strong consideration.
