I've had a very long datmy of testing, I'm hoping to make it through the game, so Sweet 16 game. If St. Peter's could do that as a 15, why not some SWAC school as a 16 seed.

Dai Dai Ames high school coach was Nic Irvin. Nics brother was Byron Irvin who played at Mizzery. Nic had one of the top teams in the state this year until it was discovered he was using ineligible players due to fake addresses. He has a rep for that. He's also been the coach of Mac Irvin Fire named after his late father.

I attended an elite 8 doubleheader last night at the UIC Pavilion. I wish you all could witness Chicago basketball. There were probably close to 8 or 9 thousand people there between the two games. Great energy and excitement. Nationally ranked players on the floor in both games. I got to watch one of my old students star in the 4A game which was probably the state championship game as it was the top 2 ranked teams, Homewood Flossmoor where Julian Wright played, and Curie, where our one and own Cliff Alexander played. Gianni Cobb is the kid I taught, actually going to Columbia in NYC, he always told me he wanted to play at KU. Maybe he'll hit the transfer portal!

The key for this team is valuing the basketball and guarding at a high level. Last night offense looked solid even with us missing a ton of bunnies. We took care of the ball ( 6 turnovers) and made shots a D1 basketball team should make from distance (6/13 from 3). Defense was good for most of the second half, they added some late 3s and easy points again the scrubs, I think we held them to 12 points for the first 11 minutes of the second half before we got a little less aggressive with a 28 point lead.

Turns out this team can be pretty good with a healthy McCulla' and Timby knocking down 3's. Just have to hope that keeps up (and hope Bill has a plan to adapt the defense for teams that can expose Hunter's slow recovery on screens).
