Some schedule news today. The Big 12 is moving to a 20 game conference schedule this season. This means that KU will play 10 teams once, and 5 teams home and away. Those opponents have been announced today.

KU will play Arizona, Arizona St., Oklahoma St., Texas Tech, and West Virginia once at home in Allen Fieldhouse.

KU will play road games against Baylor, BYU, Cincinnati, TCU, and Utah.

KU will play home and away games against Colorado, Houston, Iowa St., Kansas St., and UCF.

The 5 teams we're playing home and away don't really surprise me other than UCF. I would've thought it'd be someone like TCU or BYU who finished close to KU in the standings.

@Texas-Hawk-10 Would have been fun to get Arizona twice. Wonder how they will rotate year to year who plays home and away. You'd think KSU KU is always gonna be a home AND away but are they definitely thinking that way?

My personal opinion on scheduling a 20 game schedule would be 3 regional rivals that are permanent and the other 2 based on the previous season's standings.

@FarmerJayhawk we may just go to a football game this year. Cost us $1100 as a family to go to a BB game last season. Thats was driving in for a mid day tip and coming back without hotels cost or anything. Like I’ve been saying the last few years, they are going price out average fans real quick in sports if they ain’t careful.

unfortunately your right. The Average to little below are getting priced right out of being able to watch ANY sporting event , like College Basketball--- - --football going to come to that a dam shame. You can thank NIL a part of that also. In pro a long as owners continue to play these ridiculous contracts then it will continue. Can't blame the players a long a they pay the price -- the players are fools no to try and get it-- -we the fan is the one' who suffer

Dropping seating capacity by a 1000 is a slap in the face of the best fans in college hoops.

Jul 16, 2024 07:15 PM #13

@wissox I’m not too broken up about it. Most games the place wasn’t full. It was always sold out but there were usually GA seats empty up in the corners or even in the student section

Jul 16, 2024 08:27 PM #14

My understanding is that the 1000 seats sacrificed were not good seats. Not a real loss. (however it will create a touch of scarcity to the supply and therefore, lead to higher ticket prices.)

Jul 17, 2024 05:34 PM #15

I'd agree that maybe 250-500 of those seats were not good seat, but I dont remember there being that many seats in the corners. I would bet there are some seats that aren't too bad that are being lost. Now is a lose of ~500 okish seats a big deal? Probably not terribly so but it still stinks

Any seat is a good seat in the phog - - - -- Why ?- - - Because it's " THE PHOG ' The best School- -the Best team , ONLY IN THE PHOG - - - -ROCK CKALK BABY ALL DAY LONG

@MR11 I’ve been fortunate enough to sit in many seats in AFH. My favorite was 5 rows behind the KU bench (free from 30 yr season ticket holders) and my least favorite up in 13a or 9a. Easily the worst seats and hard to get in and out of.
