@Crimsonorblue22 I saw this yesterday, what a ride for that man to see what he help build. No doubt Kansas basketball is where it is in part to AFH.

Just got home from the open house, they did really great job sprucing up the place.

Is the new scoreboard pretty cool ? - Needed a new different one for some time

How will I remember to shop at the local Russell Stover Candies without the AFH scoreboard reminding me?

So capacity is now 15,300. I'm sure the 1000 seats weren't great, but still present in the arena.

@Jhawk69 I don’t think they have been on there for a while

Looks like some pretty nice improvements but I haven't experienced it yet. Would like to hear from more fans that have.

@drgnslayr most of them aren't super public facing. They moved a lot of the mechanical stuff from the concourses to the gym, hence the new boards in the corners and reduced capacity. The new donor spaces are... fine? Good news is they close during the game. The biggest differences people will see and hear are the new scoreboard and court. All in all, lots of stuff that probably needed to get done but the experience will largely be the same.

@FarmerJayhawk

Cool! It would be a real crime to take away from the magic at AFH!

@drgnslayr I been told it’s pretty similar in general as @FarmerJayhawk said. I’ve always loved how you could forget what year it was most the time at a game, the place hadn’t changed much since the first time I went in 2008.

@kjayhawks

Didn't we also get brighter overhead lights? It looks like it.

If that is the case... I think people under-appreciate that improvement. Not only is it more pleasant for us, the fans, to watch both there and on TV... it is my personal opinion that our shooters will shoot a higher percentage over the span of the year because it's easier to focus on the basket!

@drgnslayr doesnt that mean opposing shooters’ career nights against us will get even more careerer?

Nov 03, 2024 09:04 PM #14

@approxinfinity

Good for them, too.

But we get a better net gain because it may even be easier to recruit better shooters. I know if I was a high school hot-shot I wouldn't be signing up to a school with dim gym lights!

@drgnslayr "net gain".

Nice
