Uncharted territory forthcoming. Or is it. 6 regular season games:
At BYU Loss, 17-9
home against OSU. Win, 18-9
Road against Colorado, win, typing that with fear and trembling. Win 19-9
Home TTech. Loss. 19-10
Road Houston Loss 19-11
Home Arizona Loss 19-12
Big 12 tournament. Loss after 1 win 20-13.
Should be the 7-8 seed that other teams will fear because of our name on our jersey.
Sometimes hard to remember but just last year we lost 11.
In 2019, we lost 10
13-14 Lost 10
99 and 00 seasons lost 10.
3 year stretch from the seasons ending 87-89 with over 10 losses, of course the huge punctuation mark of a natty.
Before Brown arrived, and before I arrived must've been really dark years.
I can't imagine a year like 1978-79 where AFH hosted the first 2 rounds of the dance but KU wasn't invited to play in their own gym.
So the 'we've had it good' narrative is little comfort it does offer some perspective.
I was going to title this thread 'could we be a bubble team?' I guess if the bottom really drops and we can't even win against OSU at home or Colorado on the road then the team turns into a 14 loss what did you do for me lately team and they truly are on the bubble. I doubt that happens.
What could be coming might be a fun lower seed that suddenly figures it out in the dance and fights and claws back into being a story. Of course I didn't see that possibility last night. No one else did. There was not one positive to say about that game except we don't have that one guy shooting FT's for us who went 1-9 at the line.
This season could end in flames. There's still hope for the more optimistic. Until a few games ago I was still very positive. The Houston meltdown, the road woes notwithstanding. Might it be fun even to see us win some as the underdog in March?
