Hope they win. Today will say a lot about where they go for the next week's ahead.

Feb 22, 2025 08:31 PM #2

No time to eff around. gotta come close to winning out the rest of the way to guarantee we're dancing.

KU doesn't need to win out to make the tournament. Just win today and the first B12 Tournament game and KU's in. This will likely be the first time since the 2000 though that KU isn't a top 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament which might be an unbreakable record.

Feb 22, 2025 08:47 PM #4

Today, I just want to see them play loose and free.

Feb 22, 2025 08:48 PM #5

Literally no one asked for a ref cam

Feb 22, 2025 08:48 PM #6

Nothings changed

Feb 22, 2025 08:48 PM #7

Feb 22, 2025 08:54 PM #11

Lol harris

Feb 22, 2025 08:55 PM #12

That was a lob to the invisible player.@BeddieKU23

Feb 22, 2025 08:56 PM #13

@patoh3 if he had real scorers around him someone would have been there to throw that down.

Feb 22, 2025 08:57 PM #14

This is the real issue with Rylan and AJ and why they aren’t panning out.

Griffen went up intending to shoot it and changed his mind last second. That was 100% on Rylen.

Feb 22, 2025 08:59 PM #16

Atta boy

Feb 22, 2025 09:00 PM #17

Nice KJ put back dunk.

Feb 22, 2025 09:01 PM #18

That was nasty by KJ man if Zeke hit that 3

Feb 22, 2025 09:01 PM #19

Incredible how easy they blow momentum

Feb 22, 2025 09:02 PM #20

Feb 22, 2025 09:05 PM #25

YTes , I'll take me an order of DIGGY please

Feb 22, 2025 09:06 PM #26

Way to many wide open looks for Oklahoma St

Feb 22, 2025 09:07 PM #27

I do want Coit back next year. He's a great bench piece for a program like Kansas with his shooting.

Feb 22, 2025 09:08 PM #28

@Texas-Hawk-10 I like diggy he’s a little spark plug

Feb 22, 2025 09:09 PM #29

@kjayhawks you took the words out of my mouth.

Feb 22, 2025 09:11 PM #30

Let’s hit some FT’s today, Juan.

Feb 22, 2025 09:11 PM #31

Nice to see us attacking the lane.

Feb 22, 2025 09:11 PM #32

Feb 22, 2025 09:12 PM #33

Huh, thought we played tonight. Glad I checked here!

Feb 22, 2025 09:15 PM #39

Crowd applauded hunters d for the first time all year

Feb 22, 2025 09:19 PM #40

I personally find the chest painted cowboy fans hilarious. Welcome to Lawrence!

Feb 22, 2025 09:21 PM #41

Juando is having a good game so far

Feb 22, 2025 09:21 PM #42

Feb 22, 2025 09:23 PM #50

Three 3 pointers by Coit changed momentum

Feb 22, 2025 09:25 PM #55

I do remember blowing this kind of lead this season

Feb 22, 2025 09:25 PM #56

That was a sympathy foul KJ was straight up

Feb 22, 2025 09:25 PM #57

@DanR shhhh

Feb 22, 2025 09:26 PM #58

BOY how I've missed these kinds of games - - -fun

@DanR said in Biggest game of the year thread:

I’m just happy we are playing hard and together for the first time in a month or longer

Feb 22, 2025 09:26 PM #60

@BeddieKU23 these are the kinds of things does, he brings to the game al the time

Feb 22, 2025 09:30 PM #61

Wow this is fun

Feb 22, 2025 09:31 PM #62

I wish Zeke could do that on the road.

Feb 22, 2025 09:32 PM #63

Best ball movement of year

Feb 22, 2025 09:32 PM #64

BIG HUNT

Feb 22, 2025 09:33 PM #65

I thinks this team is pissed

Feb 22, 2025 09:33 PM #66

Hunter playing with pride and heart = success

Feb 22, 2025 09:33 PM #67

OMG -the Bear is awake- - -and it's hungry- - -real hungry

Feb 22, 2025 09:33 PM #68

Playing as a team finally

Feb 22, 2025 09:34 PM #69

I think hunter tried to kick kj after the chest bump lol

Feb 22, 2025 09:34 PM #70

This team goes as Hunter goes. When he's playing motivated, KU is damn near unstoppable.

Feb 22, 2025 09:36 PM #71

52 pts at half. Wowza

Feb 22, 2025 09:36 PM #72

Easily the best half we have played since UCF round 1

Feb 22, 2025 09:37 PM #73

Great defense from KJ and Juando.

Feb 22, 2025 09:38 PM #74

Now we just need to keep up the intensity!

Feb 22, 2025 09:38 PM #75

@kjayhawks Exactly - -looks sweet also when the 3's are fallin - -let it fly

Feb 22, 2025 09:39 PM #76

@BeddieKU23 Hell there has been some games where we struggled to get 52 in a game

Feb 22, 2025 09:39 PM #77

Juan with 6 steals in the first half-- ties career high

Feb 22, 2025 09:41 PM #78

@SlimShaddy54 Can't sleep around him.

Feb 22, 2025 09:41 PM #79

@Texas-Hawk-10 we need more of that, first time have seen that in awhile

Feb 22, 2025 09:42 PM #80

you know what ? - - -I think maybe Diggy got this started for us

Feb 22, 2025 09:44 PM #81

I have never seen Hunt get a steal and then run down and dunk it. Maybe they got the message about how their fans were embarrassed about their recent performances.

Feb 22, 2025 09:44 PM #82

The crowd gets a fist bump!

Feb 22, 2025 09:45 PM #83

@patoh3 Play of the half.

Feb 22, 2025 09:47 PM #84

IMO the best half for Hunt, Juan, Diggy and KJ all season. It’s all because they are hustling, moving the ball and playing together

Feb 22, 2025 09:47 PM #85

Out rebounding them 24- --11 ,- - -* offensive rebounds- - - -And 8-17 from the three

Feb 22, 2025 09:48 PM #86

The only guy that didn’t do jack was AJ hopefully he gets some minutes and gets going. Playing with heart and energy is contagious

Feb 22, 2025 09:49 PM #87

Whose jersey are they retiring at half time?

Feb 22, 2025 09:50 PM #88

The range on the last three that Zeke made was wow!

Feb 22, 2025 09:59 PM #89

Rylen has 6 assists

Feb 22, 2025 10:00 PM #90

OSU sucks. Nothing to get excited about here methinks.

Feb 22, 2025 10:01 PM #91

Unpack your bags Rylen, please. It could be like this.

Feb 22, 2025 10:03 PM #92

It's rylan

Feb 22, 2025 10:04 PM #93

@Crimsonorblue22 well, barely know the guy

Feb 22, 2025 10:04 PM #94

Box score!

Feb 22, 2025 10:04 PM #95

Rylan is year 2

Feb 22, 2025 10:05 PM #96

@wissox said in Biggest game of the year thread:

They aren’t a team that will even make the NIT but the way we have played the last month we all needed this. This is something to build off of. I’m not ready to say we for sure turned a corner we all remember beat Dook and smashing UCF on the road. This is hopefully a building block to playing harder and together going into March

Feb 22, 2025 10:06 PM #97

Ok Rylan!

Feb 22, 2025 10:08 PM #98

Coit is hot!!!🥵

Feb 22, 2025 10:09 PM #99

David putting the “good” in “feel good story”

Feb 22, 2025 10:11 PM #100

When we play with urgency and have Flory lurking for rebounds bad shots from 3 become not so bad

Feb 22, 2025 10:12 PM #101

Wow. Storr with some hustle!

Feb 22, 2025 10:12 PM #102

Nice drive AJ.

Feb 22, 2025 10:12 PM #103

@approxinfinity said in Biggest game of the year thread:

Flory hasn’t scored but has 7 rebounds and is running the floor well, give a few possessions but the lob is coming to him

Feb 22, 2025 10:13 PM #104

I'm almost afraid to even say this BUT- -- - could this maybe , possibly be a game that bonds this team together? - -Everyone playing pretty well

Feb 22, 2025 10:14 PM #105

I have to give Dickinson props today , the guy is workin

Feb 22, 2025 10:15 PM #106

Nice rebound (from losses) game, but it is Okie St. After Colo, KU has Tx Tech, Az, then Houston to finish conference. Let's see if this effort holds up.

Feb 22, 2025 10:15 PM #107

Great hustle by Flory, that should’ve been a foul

Feb 22, 2025 10:18 PM #108

I worry about that late tip-off in boulder next week. 10:00 cst. We have not played well in late games

Feb 22, 2025 10:19 PM #109

@DanR nor at elevation

Feb 22, 2025 10:20 PM #110

If this effort travels.
If this effort is consistent.
If this effort and execution is the same against good teams.
If Bill doesnt pucker up and short leash non pet guys against good teams.

Then we have something.

Feb 22, 2025 10:20 PM #111

Don’t know how quick the team gets there, but a 24 hour acclimation is suggested before exertional activity.

Feb 22, 2025 10:22 PM #112

Passmore sighting

Feb 22, 2025 10:22 PM #113

Almost at 80 with 9 minutes left.

Feb 22, 2025 10:24 PM #114

Oh my ref. Coit had that

Feb 22, 2025 10:25 PM #115

Good D David

Feb 22, 2025 10:26 PM #116

Flory with 11 boards off the bench. Kid did exactly what he said he was going to do today which was bring energy

Feb 22, 2025 10:29 PM #117

I do wish Bryce Thompson well. Very tough college career after all the high school accolades and promise.

Feb 22, 2025 10:29 PM #118

Wonder what the freshman record is for rebounds

Feb 22, 2025 10:30 PM #119

Flory #13

Feb 22, 2025 10:30 PM #120

Storr is just not a good basketball player - can score, inefficiently, but does nothing else even halfway well...

Feb 22, 2025 10:31 PM #121

This lineup is kinda juicy rn ngl

@stoptheflop said in Biggest game of the year thread:

He just looks like the same guy as a freshman really hasn’t improved much

Feb 22, 2025 10:32 PM #123

Does thompson have his feet touching when he shoots fts?

Feb 22, 2025 10:32 PM #124

Storr is best in very small doses

Feb 22, 2025 10:33 PM #125

Mayo with a great block.

Feb 22, 2025 10:33 PM #126

Flory is so fun to watch

Feb 22, 2025 10:34 PM #127

14 boards now! Feed him

Feb 22, 2025 10:34 PM #128

This is why flory needs minutes

Feb 22, 2025 10:35 PM #129

15 boards

Feb 22, 2025 10:36 PM #130

Aj doesn't miss that layup last year.

Feb 22, 2025 10:38 PM #131

Come on refs that's a freaking block

Feb 22, 2025 10:38 PM #132

Flory is too good to believe apparently

Feb 22, 2025 10:39 PM #133

Really bad few minutes for Passmore...

Feb 22, 2025 10:39 PM #135

guess if w want to nit pic about the game today , the only thing would be the turnovers- other then that

Feb 22, 2025 10:41 PM #136

@BeddieKU23 needs wt room

Feb 22, 2025 10:42 PM #137

Ok , the cowboy chest painters have it crossed out. I’m slow

Feb 22, 2025 10:43 PM #138

Junior high ball right now...

Feb 22, 2025 10:44 PM #139

Walk ons have fun love to see it

Feb 22, 2025 10:45 PM #140

Nice of Storr to pass that to evers

Feb 22, 2025 10:46 PM #141

@Crimsonorblue22

I'm sure that will be emphasis #1 in offseason

Feb 22, 2025 10:48 PM #142

Play like that every game and we’ll be fine

Feb 22, 2025 10:50 PM #143

Can we build off of this and show up in boulder with energy

Feb 22, 2025 10:52 PM #144

Co. Beat baylor

Feb 22, 2025 10:59 PM #145

Welp. Is everyone back on board? Does Billy still have a job?

Feb 22, 2025 11:01 PM #146

@nuleafjhawk its a good start. Need an exorcism, maybe a eulogy for “bad bill”, bring in Bruce Weber to get the party started, wave the burning sweet grass.

Feb 22, 2025 11:05 PM #147

thirty six points off the bench

Feb 22, 2025 11:18 PM #148

Flory 16 boards and three blocks. With Cowboys hanging all over him.

Feb 22, 2025 11:18 PM #149

Did Florys block/goaltending call get looked at?

Feb 22, 2025 11:20 PM #150

That was Kansas basketball today.

Feb 22, 2025 11:20 PM #151

@Crimsonorblue22 I don't know. I went to Whataburger.

Feb 22, 2025 11:24 PM #152

I think we shot the ball with much more confidence today. Not a single player looked terrified to shoot it.

Feb 22, 2025 11:45 PM #153

Unfortunately I think two things:
1. Allen fieldhouse is very good
2. ok state is very bad

We ended up playing with energy but the start was still slow. A good team could have buried us right from the tip that game. They missed some open looks early that could have made that a very different game.

It’s a good start but I’m not calling this team “BACK” yet.

Feb 22, 2025 11:49 PM #154

@benshawks08 for sure no reason to jump to the conclusion that this team has found their calling finally. The next two games will tell us a lot about what had happened

Feb 23, 2025 12:21 AM #155

Today was encouraging. Whether it was a one off or something more remains TBD. We didn't look like this against Colorado 11 days ago though and Colorado is a much worse team than OSU.

I mentioned it in during the game, but this team will go as far as Hunter carries them. When he's active and engaged like today, everyone else feeds off that energy. When he plays half-assed, pretty much everyone else plays half-assed as well.

Can Hunter have a Remy-like run to end his KU career and change his KU legacy? It was about this time 3 years ago that we were wondering if Remy was even going to play for KU again, but that's rarely brought up because of his run to end the season. That doesn't necessarily mean Hunter has to win a title, but making a run in the B12 Tournament, making it past the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament would do a lot to change Hunter's long term legacy here.

Feb 23, 2025 12:26 AM #156

Definitely relieved we didn’t lose out all the last games. Squeak out another conference win or two, make the Dance, win one or two there, and chalk it up to a down year then look forward to some fresh blood next year.

Feb 23, 2025 12:42 AM #157

I was amazed to see Hunter do more than wave at a dude on defense, went after the guy, blocked it and then ripped the rebound. Hunters usually a vertical or nothing post defender.

Feb 23, 2025 12:44 AM #158

@approxinfinity Hunter played his best game as a Jayhawk IMO on both ends 16 points and 11 rebounds in just 21 minutes

Feb 23, 2025 02:49 AM #159

Fun with the box score! And it is truly fun this time. yay. fast paced action. exactly how we need to play.

52

First half points.

52 -- 46 -- 75

FG% -- 3pt% -- FT%

I'll take that most games!

36

Bench points!!! wow.

48 -- 28

KU -- OSU rebounds

-5

Flory's +/- That's interesting. Hmmm.

<30

Not a single player over the 30 minute mark.

18

Lots of turnovers though. Maybe from a faster pace?

Feb 23, 2025 03:27 AM #160

Is Shak hurt or what?

Feb 23, 2025 03:29 AM #161

Yes

Feb 23, 2025 04:07 AM #162

@kjayhawks said in Biggest game of the year thread:

Is Shak hurt or what?

Mentioned a few games back, he's dealing with a foot injury. That's why he had been playing reduced minutes recently, nothing to do with being in Self's doghouse.

We saw what a fully healthy Shak could do on defense and how much that energized the team.

Feb 23, 2025 05:20 PM #163

You know , just browsing around , running a crossed other teams records , Seasons Kind of ironic /funny , well funny but yet not funny if you know what I many of these other teams experiencing rough seasons.

U , Conn - - Gonzaga - - Kentucky - - N Carolina- - -Baylor etc etc . Like I was watching/reading of Baylor pod cast and Locked on Baylor awhile ago and you think it is like we are standing on the edge of the cliff , ready to jump because of the play of the team- -the players coming in from NIL ?

Some examples of what's being said by other teams like Baylor & Kentucky for example really ironic how close to verbatim it is things/phrases being si Like : ( is this our worst loss ever ? - -where does this loss rank ? - - Werre a terrible, we going to play one game in the tourney- -this team is done , these players have checked in , I think there is much more going on then we know , do these players even care -- -I mean we just lost to the16th rated team in our conference- ----

I'm telling you guys it's amazing how close these things are lol.- - -These fan bases about ready to commit harry carry. - -Is Drew gone - -do you thin Drew will leave ? -Well at least we know Drew doesn't give up on the team year, after year like Self lol--

Were not alone guys seveal teams saying same things about their teams

Feb 23, 2025 05:48 PM #164

Someone threw out an opinion that the Utah 4700 ft and BYU 4551 ft games were significantly impacted by the altitude. Boulder is at 543o feet above sea level. Buffaloes versus Baylor +6, UCF + 11, Houston -6, ASU +5, BYU -14 (similar elevations). The NBA Denver Nuggets are tracked as having a significant home second half scoring advantage.

Just wondering if the quick turn around plus the elevation factor will show up in our energy level tomorrow.

Feb 23, 2025 05:59 PM #165

Not KU related but All Mighty U Conn , with the All mighty Coach is finding out they too, are susceptible to down years, Hurley is Human just like our Coach.- - - Down 18 at the half to St Johns

Feb 23, 2025 09:41 PM #166

Our next game is tomorrow night at 10 PM CENTRAL TIME, you know when many of us are heading to bed. Screw the Big 12 and their careless about the fans. Screw our AD who let this happen. I'm beyond pissed asking us to sacrifice sleep if we want to watch a game. They voted to allow this. I assume our AD permitted this. ZERO consideration for the fans, for the students, professors, the community in Lawrence and across the nation. We're not the only ones dealing with this of course, but it doesn't make me feel any better. If they did it to us on the weekend that might be semi acceptable, they did actually when we played BYU with a 9PM start time but that was a Saturday night.

Feb 23, 2025 09:45 PM #167

SEC conference is the only one that doesn't have this concern and in basketball the Big East doesn't either. Lesser conferences remain sensible.

Feb 23, 2025 09:48 PM #168

@wissox Ya kinda stinks. I'm watching the KSU/ASU game today and they were talking saying that because of the conference schedule and amount of teams , they wanted to make the amount of games are equal with quality officials - make sure all teams get the same Balance.

The crew that they have today one has -- three final fours - -Another has-- - eight & the other has -- fie- -still stinks

Feb 23, 2025 09:51 PM #169

Maybe its good eyeballs aren't on our team but you can bet no one in eastern time is watching even a minute of it.

Feb 23, 2025 10:08 PM #170

That’s still 9:00 mountain time? What the hell? I’d get it if it was full west coast pacific time because a game starting at 8 isn’t unheard of but 9 seems late add in the central time of 10:00 and it just seems silly.

Feb 23, 2025 11:06 PM #171

The old Pac 12 After Dark time slot.

Feb 24, 2025 12:08 AM #172

11pm for us on the east coast. No chance I can watch this one

Feb 24, 2025 01:00 AM #173

@benshawks08 Yeah I don't even get making Colorado fans start games at 9. never used to happen when they were in the Big 8.

It’s weird to me to start a game this late for most of the country especially when they claim 65% of all sports viewership comes east of the Mississippi. Gonna be about 500k people watching watching it at that time slot.

Yea, that 8 p.m. west coast time slot (9 p.m. Colorado time / 10 p.m. Kansas time) is pretty regular out here. Somebody gets stuck with it most every week.

Gives us on the coast something to watch after dinner for sure though. Sucks for everybody else. Sucks for local Kansas fans for sure.

8pm start is already too late for many, 10pm is ridiculous. Luckily I’m on vacation in Jamaica. - I won’t “miss” the game, but I won’t be watching it either.

This will be the first KU game I haven't watched in over 30 years. Even a 9pm EST start has been troublesome for me over the years during the week due to my work schedule, but I've sacrificed a lot of sleep over the years to watch the games. If this was a tournament game, I'd figure it out but it's a Monday regular season game and I have an extremely high-level issue going on at work so I simply cannot do it tonight. This was my exact concern when the league announced taking the Mtn & Pacific time teams into the league and I expressed my dissatisfaction for what was to come and sure enough here we are.

Hopefully they will play well tonight and continue to right the ship of turning this thing around

@BeddieKU23 wow, 30 years, that is some streak. Yet another long standing record broken this season.
