It's time (Irrational thought of the day)

If teams are forcing Juan and KJ to take the majority of shots, something's wrong.

If Zeke is in the crapper, something's wrong.

The fix? Let's play AJ Storr, and use him as a volume shooter. We've barely seen his offensive skills put to use this year. I think he can drive the lane with enthusiasm. Give him the ball and get out of the way!

Why not. Can't be that much worse, right? (ha)

I know there will be issues elsewhere, but is his defense that much worse than Zeke's?

We got nothing to lose really.

Advanced stats say his best position is holding down the end of the bench.

Mar 02, 2025 03:41 PM #3

AJ has looked so disengaged it’s hard to know what to do. I think yesterday you could make the argument that he should’ve played more than 5 minutes with how bad Zeke played.

Self doesn't have another option to replace Zeke if it's not Coit out there. I dont know what position Storr can play but its not 2 guard. Our backcourt is just a mess as usual

Mar 02, 2025 04:17 PM #5

what's up with Shak Moore? Injured again?

Mar 02, 2025 04:19 PM #6

@bskeet

Yes. Self said his pain will be there rest of season. Similar to Kevin last year

Mar 02, 2025 04:20 PM #7

@BeddieKU23 that sucks.

Mar 02, 2025 04:23 PM #8

@dylans

While he says he's day to day i wouldn't count on him playing again

Mar 02, 2025 04:28 PM #9

More AJ! I don’t care what position he plays. Just let him drive the ball. That seems to be his superpower, even though we rarely get a chance to see it. Somebody other than Dajuan has to drive the lane. Please.

Labaran Philon...? in an article said backed out of his commitment last year because of the guards Self was bringing in through the portal. He's a 4 star guard now for Alabama averaging 10 pts, only 21% on 3's so he wouldn't have been better than Mayo, for long term depth Diggy and Shak may have cost us keeping him

Mar 02, 2025 06:33 PM #11

@wissox that was before Elmarko went down with a season ending injury.
Im assuming he meant with Elmarko in the picture as well.

@rockchalkjayhawk

Personally, I don't think he's the answer nor has he earned more time at this point but understand where your coming from with the request.

Mar 02, 2025 07:42 PM #13

@wissox

He's really talented and has made a big impact for Bama. There are other factors at play for why he didn't end up here

Mar 02, 2025 07:53 PM #14

@BeddieKU23 Well in the article I read he mentioned Self and the portal bringing in guards

Mar 02, 2025 08:01 PM #15

@wissox

I have no doubt it played a role as well.

I mean, he entered the game and immediately headed to the basket agressively and drew a foul? That's like unheard of for KU this year. Then he was yanked for whatever infraction Self could come up with.

We NEED that kinda play.

I'll take that every time over whatever oddly angled floater Dajuan attempts.

Real man basketball.

By the time Philon decommitted, KU had retained Elmarko, and added Storr and Mayo in the portal. Elmarko and Zeke would've definitely been viewed as competition, but it was Rylan Griffen's commitment that spurred Philon's decision and they essentially traded Philon for Griffen.

@rockchalkjayhawk No w for sure don't need anymore of that turnover looking for a place to happen.- like I posted earlier might of been a different thread, they ranked 1095 players that was getting a certain amount of usage rate and out of those players Aj was ranked 1095th -- - - - -DEAD LAST in shooting % , you combine that with his ability that he has of turning the ball over AND having to look it up in Websters someone even mentions the idea of playing defense-- to which he has no f - - - - - clue what that means ,-this is the last kid that needs more minutes

Mar 02, 2025 10:26 PM #19

@rockchalkjayhawk

Yeah he had a couple of plays while in that we don't see from others. Unfortunately he doesn't do anything else even remotely well and it is a team sport. Perhaps next year at his next school he will be given the freedom to play hero ball again. He will be best in a high usage system that doesn't care so much about certain things

Mar 02, 2025 11:58 PM #20

@dylans another concept is that he sit on another team's bench

Mar 03, 2025 01:15 AM #21

Had Bill evaluated his current roster better he could have had both Philon and Griffin

Mar 03, 2025 01:52 AM #22

@nuleafjhawk As long it's not OUR bench he is sitting on

Mar 04, 2025 08:01 AM #23

Good luck getting buckets from Storr. I'd rather let Diggy, Zeke to just let it fly. Set screens for them instead of them looking to always pass a high low or handoff on the perimeter. Bottom line is, BS needs to change his lousy offense. Immediately. We've got shooters, but they're not effectively being utilized. We've got a mobile big guy but he's only expected to play D. SMH..

Mar 04, 2025 06:39 PM #24

@jay4ever Agree about Storr 100 % his feet should NEVER , EVER step foot on the court here again for one minute , he has been given many chances but as soon as he steps on the floor he is an instant turnover or a Black hole- give those minutes to a meaningful player
