Well let's start with a game thread so the several of us still following KU football may converse. KU has the much better offense with 1336 yds passing and 917 rushing vs. UCF's 938 passing and 812 rushing. JD has 16 passing TDs with just 2 INTs and a rushing TD. UCF's QB Jackson has just 3 TDs and 1 INT. Points per game are surprisingly close: KU 36.6 UCF 34.8. I don't know where UCF's scoring comes from but they score way more rushing TDs than passing. Anyway, I sure hope KU wins this came convincingly; otherwise, I may be the only person on this website still following them next week, especially with everyone watching Bill killing it.

The Jayhawks are favored on the road by 4.5 points.

So, certainly rooting for a win, but who the heck knows.

While we are at break, 8 lb mono with 6th sense jig heads and keitech easy shiner paddle tails is currently the bass hotness here.

Can any football experts tell me why on 3rd and short we try a wide pass behind the line of scrimmage like that?

WR has no momentum. Why not a short, quick slant??? I recall running those simple quick pass routes in Pop Warner!

Offense has to score 6 every time they touch it from here on out and we have to hope we can hold them to 3 another time or two

Honestly, each week I set the minimum winning score for KU at 30 points.

This defense loses at tag as well.

If this team had last year’s defense we are undefeated no question in my mind.

@rockchalkjayhawk He has had 10 rushes, so only 9.9 yards per rush. Realistically he obtained the majority of his yards on 3 runs.

Offense is finally cooking.

This game is a must win for a chance at a bowl.

The outcome of this game is already decided. Our only chance was to blow them out, and that hasn't happened.

Well friends 4-2 start feels a lot better than 1-5. We won a 1 possession game!! That is a huge confidence boosting win IMO.

I'm happy the defense finally proved to be more trustworthy than a wet fart.

Huge. We’re going to get absolutely drilled next week so it’s good to have this one in the bank. I thought we’d be 5-1 at this point, 4-2 isn’t bad. 8 wins is still doable, though difficult.

@FarmerJayhawk I think we were the much better team once we settled in out scored them 27-6 in pretty much the final 3 QTRs. I also thought we had a good chance to be 5-1 at this point. But like I said earlier, I think our schedule is better than we thought it would be. I think Mizzou who will find out a lot about next week is much better than anticipated as well as UCF and Cincinnati. Every FBS team outside of WV KU has played has a fair chance at a bowl game IMO.

A lot of these B12 games will look this way with how evenly match everyone is outside of Tech. Just like last week when it was 20-20 I told my son whomever gets a TO is gonna win this game. We got it this week and that was the difference.

@kjayhawks yeah Cincy really showed out today. It’s going to be a grind the rest of the way, with the exception of Okie Lite. They’re atrocious.

Tale of two halves for the defense, first they couldn't stop a cold with a runny nose. second half especially third quarter dominate. Farmer is right it is going to be ugly next Something's developing talented group Brikley , Todd Snd Alexander and such growing up. Third quarter was awesome, that hit by Dye WOW that's a hit'

I’d like to take credit for this win. I left the chat to get dinner ready when things were sketchy, and we won! The defense woke up?

Somehow I thought this was a bye week. However, I turned on the TV around 8 to watch baseball and noticed KU football. Since I record all games, I could watch the whole thing. Glad I did.

Observations. After a slow start Jalen had a really solid game. Avoided the mistakes he's infamous for. Made some really solid throws.

This defense is offensive. Yet interestingly the defense also won the game for us with the strip and fumble and bent but didn't break through a high wire act 4th quarter of stop after stop.

That freshman TE Bruhn or whatever his name is can play. So can Groen. So can Henderson.

One little peak at Marshall was enticing. Not sure why QB is the one position that backups rarely play unless it's in a blowout.

This was a nice win for our bowl hopes but as someone who predicted 8-4 way back in June we've got a ways to go.

At TTech next week gonna be a long night the way our defense is playing.

(I'm pretty stoked about all of the great recruiting news coming from our better known team!)

@wissox JD really played a near perfect game IMO. I think he missed on two throws. One thing I noticed and clapped over was him throwing the ball away multiple times. He didn’t dance and fumble, just lived to play another down. He had 13 turnovers in the first 6 games last season and a lot of folks including me wanted him on the pine. This season thru 6 games he has 4 which I can live with when he touches the ball every single play. There is only a few things left for him to do to cement his legacy in Lawrence. Beat KSU and win a bowl game. Hard to see him in the ring of honor without doing those things.

I think I finally figured out our bipolar defense. Giving up huge plays in the open field because our DBs are in a soft zone and can't deny the first down. But on the goal line defenses they had to stay up close and help clog the line.

@kjayhawks i dont know what the criteria for ring of honor is but Daniels has been a massive part in righting the ship under Lance, including recruiting. If helping KU in the W column is what it boils down to, I think he should be in.

@approxinfinity he likely is already in the ring of honor at this point it would just be weird without any of the before mentioned things happening

@wissox If the backup QB is playing and the starter isn’t hurt, the starter sucks. It also undermines the starting QBs leadership position, he goes from the focal point to the bench. At least that’s what I’d suppose.

@dylans I honestly like the package of having Marshall run the ball. He is a great athlete with track speed and it gets him on the field. JD with his age and injuries doesn’t seem to have the speed he once did. But that package running Marshall sets us up for a pass at some point that could catch the defense sleeping for 6. A play we may need to turn the tide late in one of these games.

KU opened as an 11.5 underdog for Tech, already up to 14.5

@dylans I really am just saying send them in for a play per half. No undermining taking place, just give a little experience. Most players on the field get subbed out during a game, some on 3rd down every time or whatever.
