Starters

Barry SR 6'8", 13.3 ppg

Siakam FR 6'9", 13.0 ppg, 7.7 rpg

Mullings SR 6'2", 12.6 ppg

Nephawe SR 6'10", 10.4 ppg, 7.6 rpg

Baker SO 6'0", 9.5 ppg

Subs

Eldrige SR 6'1", 8.1 ppg

Wilkins FR 6'10", 3.1 ppg

Their starters are not small and they are led by 3 seniors. All 5 can score. I think we need to out rebound them (Siakam and Nephawe are their key post guys).

I think we have more bodies than them, they have 7 and we can go 8.5 or 8.75 (0.5~0.75 refer to Hunter). My guess is Bad Ball will win the game. Early driving at the paint to create foul troubles for them (specifically Siakam and Nephawe) would be good. If you look at the rest of their roster, mostly are Freshmen. If we can make their senior post players sit, Ellis and Lucas will enjoy the party. RCJH!

Oubre needs to be on Barry.

@Shanghai_RCJH Evenly distributed scoring from their top 6 players.

Kenpom mentioned KU has the toughest draw. And, Vegas' odds for KU vs WSU is less than 2 points. Now, it is time to prove that LUCK Factor Kenpom has assigned to us. Be the luckiest team win! RCJH! And, if LUCK really is what helped us thus far, maybe Cliff will play this week.

Like this from Pat Forde:

Best Case: After a perfunctory punking of New Mexico State, the Jayhawks tell Wichita State, “Careful what you wish for.” Kansas beats down the uppity Shockers, putting them back in their place for the foreseeable future. In the Sweet 16, Bill Self’s hammer-it-in offense mauls Notre Dame inside to set up a date with Kentucky. Cocky after beating Kansas by 32 in November, the Wildcats aren’t ready for the challenge of a drastically improved team. Jayhawks don’t shoot 20 percent this time, battle admirably inside and Bill Self hands John Calipari another soul-crushing NCAA tournament defeat. Not finished there, Kansas marches into the Final Four and beats Wisconsin and Duke to win it all. Self signs 20-year contract extension and all underclassmen stay in school. Meanwhile, Iowa State loses early and Kim Anderson is still the coach at Missouri.

Didn't I read that NMSt has a 7'3" guy?

I also read that NMSt is the 2nd highest ranked Kenpom 15 seed ever.

@wissoxfan83 You are right. Tanveer Bhullar, Center, 7' 3" 335lbs Redshirt Freshman, Toronto, Canada. So, we don't need to put on the football gears!

I think you are also right about Kenpom's. RCJH!

@Shanghai_RCJH

He does not play much and is really a non-factor.

I have yet to see New Mexico State play. So if anyone could fill me in on some questions, it would be greatly appreciated!

What are the match up advantages that we have? Or what are some potential tough match ups for us? Do you like the match up? Last year we had a nightmare against Stanford with their bigs.

What does their lineup look like? Do they rely on defense or outscoring opponents?

Watching a special on the Flying Illini of 1989. They mentioned coach Lew Henson who made a magical run to the final four with New Mexico State in 1970. What's my point?
New Mexico State has been to the final four more times than Misery.

Iowa State has ONE final four appearance. 1944. I hope it stays that way.

I am for all the Big 12 teams advancing to a point. Just a bit chippy since ISU beat us last week and knocked us out of the South Region per Lunardi.

@JhawkAlum Like most of us I have never seen them play. Has anyone on this site? I go to bed earlier than when most of the west coast games are on and if I stayed up I would probably watch Arizona or Gonzaga or someone "good".

I did see that they are ranked 88 on kenpom. The other 15 seeds are ranked 149, 151 and 207 so we got the toughest draw according to that stat. Toughest 15. Toughest 7. Toughest 3. Toughest 1. Funny that we could get to play all of them in a row!!

RCJH.

@JayhawkRock78 I'm with you. I like to see other B12 teams go to the Elite 8 and no further....I like the final four reserved for only one B12 team....us.

I know that is selfish. Other Big 12 teams going to the final four is good for the conference.
But that's the way I feel.
