Wiggins to be named Rookie of the Year!!!
Apr 29, 2015 10:53 PM #1

Not that it was any surprise but it was just announced via twitter that KU's own Andrew Wiggins will be named Rookie of the Year.

Congrats Andrew, you were at times amazing this year for your crappy Minnesota. With a great off-season he has a chance to be an All-Star next year, he was that good at times.

Outstanding! That in itself will pay recruiting dividends for years to come.

Jaylen Brown meet Andrew Wiggins...your future at KU.

Very deserving award. I have watched him throughout the season and he has improved by leaps and bounds....I bet Cleveland is wishing they would have kept him, Love has not performed as expected for the Cavs.

@JayHawkFanToo I'm so glad he's in Minnesota! Saw a few games, super young team, lots of room to grow! I think he's happy there. Not many guys can play every game. Amazing! Next year Embiids turn. Great Jayhawks! Still representing!

@Crimsonorblue22

Don't forget that "the Truth" just got done kicking Raptor behind. He talked the talk and walked the walk...way to back it up Paul Pierce!!!

@JayHawkFanToo I liked that!!!

@Crimsonorblue22

He's got old school swagger...I like that. Perhaps the best and most durable player that KU has had in the NBA in the last 50 years.

@bskeet Wonder what his sophomore year of college would have been like?

Apr 30, 2015 01:10 PM #15

@nuleafjhawk

I believe he would have started for sure

Apr 30, 2015 01:36 PM #16

@nuleafjhawk people on here would still gripe that we shouldn't have signed him due to non-development of Evan and Tyler. Jk! Or, our players would be standing around singing kumbaya watching wiggs! Times have changed, how long would TRob have stayed if he came this next year? Maybe 2? He sure needed money! I want them to stay forever too, but unless rules change this is the way it is.

Yeah. And, I wonder how Wiggin's sophomore stats would have stacked up against these sophomore stats?

FGM
FGA
Pct.
FTM
FTA
Pct.
Reb.
Pts.
RPG
PPG

275
588
.468

I would not have been surprised if his stats compared pretty favorably, overall. Do you know who it is?

Sad...oh what could've been in Brown's future. He'll do nothing with Cal, Michigan or UK. What a waste. But these choices are the paths of least resistance and team competition. KU's roster is tough and hard to crack.

@Crimsonorblue22 The house that Wilt built? Aka Phog Allen.

What's interesting is how these recruits will come to Lawrence for an OFFICIAL visit and take in the rich bball history. Then, they go to another program and decide the KU tradition isn't for them? Every player that chooses KU becomes apart of basketball history and KU's bball history. They follow great legends from Naismith to Mannning to Mario's miracle shot. I'm not saying, they don't have a choice and can't refuse, obviously they do, but they'll gush and express a great love and appreciation for the program. Then, they decide KU isn't for them. So barring 'fit,' I find it hard as to why players simply pass on KU? It has to be coaching, pt, or just selfishness. They don't want to work and continue a great tradition. Hell, I'd love to sit the bench and never play a game to experience that tunnel and to play in the house that Wilt built.

But I guess programs like Cal, Michigan, and UK are much more enticing...NOT

It does make me appreciate the players that do pick KU each year. So to all our KU recruits passed, present and future...thank you and RCJHGOKU.

@bskeet I'm guessing ......Wilt?
