In 21 days, KU will begin 2 weeks of practice, play two exhibitions games over a four day period, then play against top international competition for 11 days. This is almost and month and a half of basketball that no other school will be able to do.

KU will be allowed to play tough competition for a month and a half that allows us to get use to a shorter shot clock.This will force us to have players on the court that can create their own shot. A month and a half of practice and living together in a foreign country creating an "us against the world" bonding experience.

UK prepared for KU by playing against two national teams with 4 weeks of basketball. We got stomped, stomped so bad that many of us on this site, myself included, thought that #11 would not happen. I love what is happening and I am sure that fans of other Universities see all of this as being unfair.

The only problem's I could foresee would be end of the year fatigue. Hopefully we will have a long bench.

@wrwlumpy I can't wait!! I did read where Self said they would get a big break after the games. Anybody have updated pics of the new dorms? I wanted to see them while at graduation, never got a chance.

The photo above is of the Yeonju Arena where the Basketball Venue will be located. Badminton seems to be a popular sport in South Korea.

Now... if Self can start throwing his weight around with refs to get a call advantage like Duke gets...

How are the job prospects for your graduate?

@drgnslayr I don't know whether I want him to get that kind of advantage.. I mean, I want to win, but yeeesh.... Everyone knows that Duke gets favorable calls, even some Duke fans. They win games... not so sure about respect. Winning like that has to feel a little slimy, in retrospect.

They don't have an asterisk next to their record on paper, and they get banners hanging in Cameron, but they also get a lot of disdain from a fairly distributed cross-section of the basketball world to offset all the admiration of Coach K.

Self is running the program the right way and representing the university and his athletes the right way. In the long-run, I think this will pay off.

@bskeet I'd like to believe people get rewarded for being good sports. But if the ends [of winning championships] justify the means, then what it is to be good sports is subjective. And Coach K continues to parade about, smelling like a rose.

Nowhere in "If" by Rudyard Kipling does it say anything about "If you can be a good sport, while others seek to win at all costs". Pity.
