Perhaps some good news?
Dec 12, 2016 12:52 AM #1

Copy and pasted

I'm surprised news outlets are not doing a bit more reporting. several of us old folk have kids who go there and were there when this went down and they're talking nonstop... What the kids say: They were at a party at the DU frat, the girl's a sophomore in the Theta house and was there with several friends. There were dozens of people all around them and many are reporting that Saleeha (the girl) was pushing and hitting on Carlton and he was simply trying to get her off him. They say there was no fall down stairs and no injuries to her. They also say she has called police more than once on other boys that she has gotten into arguments with. So, who knows the truth. Seems like bad behavior all the way around, including the drunken chaos of a frat party. But there certainly were lots of witnesses. Hoping facts can be established fast.

Other rumors, just rumors

Interesting twist to this story....

The girl is a Fall Theta pledge from Stilwell. Went to BV High School. There is an Azam Soofi with a Stilwell address who works for Black and Veatch. His kid was one of the Texas shooters earlier this year and the funeral was held in the local controversial, radical KC mosque with ties to the two locals who were charged with aiding AQ some years back.

The girl has to be related to these people.

To Mods: every bit of this is public record.

@Crimsonorblue22

If these reports are correct, she sounds like truck load of bad news.

I was visiting with a friend who knows an attorney that represented a former pro athlete in KC; he said that one time his girlfriend was trying to hit him and he just extended his arm to keep her away, she fell down and he was arrested...charges dropped. A few weeks later (you got to question his judgement) they got into another argument, he left the house and got into his car, she came out and started kicking his car, slipped on the ice and fell down...he was arrested and once again charges dropped. It happens a lot more often than we know, particularly with celebrities which Bragg certainly is in Lawrence.

Can't believe this happened after midnight. I thought people made good decisions after midnight...

Dec 12, 2016 02:23 AM #5

@JayHawkFanToo if true, that bodes well for Carlton. Hopefully this will be resolved quickly and he will be on the court by conference play. Maybe she is part of the reason for his questionable play? Off court issues can do that

Dec 12, 2016 02:23 AM #6

@chriz I know right! Hard to believe

Dec 12, 2016 03:23 AM #7

@Crimsonorblue22 Strong work. Hate to speculate, but the girl sounds like bad news, and with a troubling pattern, it would seem. Pattern recognition=learning who to avoid. Carlton learning some lessons, no doubt.

I hope it works out in his favor. Maybe his curious grin in the mugshot is a pure sarcastic one, like he cant believe he got arrested over something like what is described above, if that is true eyewitness accts. Consider his grin to be laugh-out-loud sarcastic grin/chuckle/"ok, I get to have a mug shot even..."

Dec 12, 2016 05:48 AM #8

@ralster I like your interpretation of his photo. Who smiles in a mug shot?!? I was thinking he was just clueless, and couldn't help but ham it up in front of any camera, regardless of the circumstance, but the sarcasm interpretation is more palatable, and more fun.

@BeddieKU23

Sounds like a groupie with serious issues. If it happened to Vick before, why was she around? About time to get a restraining order to keep her away from the entire team, if that is possible. I know the coaching staff has list of places (bars and such) that are off limits to players; sounds like this girl should be in that list.

Dec 12, 2016 12:50 PM #11

@JayHawkFanToo

we'll have to wait and see but the chatter out there definitely seems to paint the alleged victim in a different light.

Dec 12, 2016 02:42 PM #12

She must be drop dead gorgeous...

Dec 12, 2016 02:55 PM #13

@Crimsonorblue22 I'm not getting the connection of this girl to Azam Soofi. Is that his daughter? Same address? Or are they just in the same town so they must be connected? Sorry, just not seeing the link...

Edit - Ok, Nevermind. I see that she has the same last name.

Dec 12, 2016 03:19 PM #14

@FarSideHawk Google it

Dec 12, 2016 05:59 PM #15

@JayHawkFanToo To accurately qualify the oft mis-quoted phrase "bat shit" I would be remiss if not to point out it's critical application to adequately lubricate brass shell casings in artillery weaponry when other methods of greasing are unavailable... Yes Virginia there really is a purpose for bat shit & we're surely NOT crazy.

Made me chuckle too. I have a friend who constantly dates hot Crazy chicks. That fist data point is never enough. Usually takes a stressor to find out. :bomb:

Dec 12, 2016 09:46 PM #23

I have long been under the impression, perhaps misguided, but likely not, that our Jayhawk players probably had so many eager young women swooning around them that they had to be proverbially BEATEN OFF WITH A CLUB. Heck, I haven't even yet read that Carlton was wielding such a tool of defense! Could be, those Theta girls are relentless.

Dec 12, 2016 11:10 PM #24

@Crimsonorblue22 Wow, so if thats true then it would change things a little bit. But regardless, Carlton probly shouldnt have been out at 1am on a thursday... ya know?

Dec 12, 2016 11:13 PM #25

@Lulufulu yep - all about priorities. I think we have found the reason for his on court issues

Dec 12, 2016 11:22 PM #26

@HawkChamp Yep, at that age, girls are a major major distraction.

I dunno why but I am remembering Brandon Rush right now, when Coach Self asked him why he was late, I forget the circumstances of the moment but I remember B Rush saying something like," The Club was crakin Coach!" Freekin makes me giggle every time I think about it.

Dec 13, 2016 12:56 AM #27

@Lulufulu No other monks I know would have been either...

Dec 13, 2016 01:26 AM #30

@Lulufulu stop day

Dec 13, 2016 01:19 PM #31

@Lulufulu HA! I just got another good laugh. I can never focus on that guy B Rush without erupting into mirth. In that book BEYOND THE PHOG Sherron Collins really waxed eloquent about Brandon, claiming, "B Rush is one of the goofiest guys I know." Of Rush's tendency to avoid open jumpers in lieu of putting the ball on the floor and driving left, Collins said, "Coach Self used to tell him he had a magnet in his left nut that pulled his hand down toward the floor and forced him to dribble."

Dec 13, 2016 01:23 PM #32

@REHawk If you folks haven't ever read BEYOND THE PHOG, you must find a copy of that fine book. Especially, read Chapter 33, the Sherron Collins section. His commentary about Rush, Self, Hudy: O MY!

Dec 13, 2016 03:09 PM #33

@REHawk That is an outstanding book. Over 400+ pages of all player quotes, 1st person narrative style.

Regarding Rush, perhaps all the snide comments about "cant go left" really got to him & he set up to prove everyone wrong. I do consider him successful since he dropped 25 on UNC, outplayed clunky-hustle PsychoT, then drove left x 2 vs CDR of Memphis to finish at the rim. He had to regain confidence in his knee, and he did. I agree with @jaybate-1.0 about using him as THE standard for Self wings, as not only could he score, but did the glue things of rebound and defend. Better than Travis, Ben, Xavier, Wiggins, Brady. Josh Jackson performs closest, if not slightly more dynamic, due to his passing ability. Havent seen a tougher frosh, other than frosh Mason and frosh Sherron. I recently watched a frosh game of Rush, and he was extremely active, both ends of the floor, almost in every play. As a frosh. Wiggins had his moments, but he brightest lights were after his KU yr. Not knocking Wiggs here.

But Coach...that club was crackin'!..."

Dec 13, 2016 05:49 PM #34

How does this gal rate on the hot to crazy scale if true.

Dec 13, 2016 08:10 PM #35

@ralster I don't think any freshman, including Mason and Sherron, was called on to play so many minutes in his freshman year - and at the end of games he was often put on the opponent's most dangerous offender. Iron man.

Jackson is kind of a blend of Rush and Julian Wright as far as talent, but with more of a Jackie Robinson attitude: whatever it takes to beat ya. This year's team is a good team for him to be on.

Dec 13, 2016 11:04 PM #36

Word on the street is there is video footage that will clear Carlton Bragg. Hopefully that is true.

Dec 13, 2016 11:40 PM #37

@ParisHawk

Jackson has proven to be a quick learner as well. Remember all the silly fouls at the beginning of the season? You don't see them any more and he is playing under control the great majority of the time. Really impressed on how well he is progressing; I can't think of a better or more impact player going back to Manning. Wiggins was also very good but at times too deferential; Jackson is a lot more assertive than Wiggins was while at KU.

Dec 14, 2016 01:18 AM #38

@Statmachine thanks for the info man. If you hear anything else, keep us posted please.

Dec 14, 2016 01:58 AM #39

@JayHawkFanToo

"Countries have gone to war over guano so it is big time s##t. LOL"

Not sure about countries, but weed growers have definitely gone to battle over bat guano.... it turns out to be the very best fertilizer for pot.

I heard a rumor once that a guy found a big cave full of bat guano and he made a fortune selling it to weed growers.

Dec 14, 2016 02:52 AM #40

@ParisHawk Thats a great analogy, I like the comparison.

Dec 14, 2016 05:16 AM #41

@drgnslayr

Believe it or not Bolivia, Peru and Chile went to war over guano fertilizer and salitre in 1879 in what it is called the War of the Pacific.

@JayHawkFanToo said:

Embiid ? Maybe Jackson makes the other players better more than Joel, but Joel erased lots of mistakes and made some great outlet passes, in addition to his individual accomplishments.

Dec 14, 2016 02:06 PM #43

@JayHawkFanToo Nah, Darnell was a glue guy with a ring. At least that's what I thought the first time I read your statement. Haha.

Dec 14, 2016 03:06 PM #44

@JayHawkFanToo

I didn't know that. Interesting..

Dec 14, 2016 05:48 PM #45

@ParisHawk

Yes, No question that Embiid showed signs of greatness while at KU but it took him longer to get there (he started 20 of the 28 games he played) and once he became productive he got injured (at Texas) and was not quite the same after that and then he was out for the rest of the season. Jackson has been very productive and started since day one and hopefully he will be a critical component of this team and a potential Championship,

Dec 14, 2016 10:19 PM #48

Dec 15, 2016 02:46 PM #54

Heck, this girl is now likely to lock down her very own reality tv show. Compete with the Kardashians.

Dec 15, 2016 03:25 PM #55

@REHawk Maybe she will go on Celebrity Apprentice and really start throwing accusations out there.

Dec 16, 2016 04:33 AM #56

@mayjay Sounds as tho she might be working up a head start in generating FAKE NEWS. Might become a winner on that program.

Dec 16, 2016 05:26 AM #57

@kjayhawks me either! Her twitter picture looks good and granted it was a mug shot with no makeup on but woof. Bragg could definitely do better.
