Injuries starting to pile up in College B-Ball
Jan 20, 2017 11:18 AM #1

For those that have missed it we are starting to see some major injuries across the nation to some of these teams best players. Here's a look

Creighton's assist machine Maurice Watson is gone for the year with an ACL putting their banner season in jeopardy. Creighton really doesn't have another PG ready on their team.

Oregon's Dillon Brooks left their game last night with a lower left leg injury. Being evaluated. This is the same leg he had surgery on in the off-season. That can't be good.

Indiana's OG Anunoby left their last game with a knee injury. They say he's out "indefinitely". Crushing to a team that's been so up and down.

Louisville's starting point guard Quintin Synder is out 2-3 weeks with a hip injury suffered in the Duke win last weekend.

Duke's Amile Jefferson has missed the past few games with a foot injury. I believe this is the same foot that has derailed a few of his seasons and is part of the reason he's still playing at 37 years old. Duke has looked lost without his leadership and scoring in the post.

Then there's Frank Mason. Coach say's he's fine. We'll see how "fine" Saturday.

@BeddieKU23 Didn't they say Frank just had a little knee to knee contact is all?

@Kcmatt7

I suppose that's the prognosis. Self said he practiced Wednesday and might have some stiffness/soreness still.

Either its a non issue or we'll know pretty quick into the game whether this is a lingering injury or not. I'm still concerned until I see him play

@BeddieKU23 Frank's tougher than Sherron. He'll be fine.

I certainly hope so!

Hate seeing so many injuries starting to happen.

The quality of the tournament depends on teams having their talent available.

Creighton just went from a legitimate top 10 team to probably a fringe top 25 team.

Indiana is even more unreliable without OG.

Oregon is probably toast without Brooks.

Louisville's offense looks terrible half the time with Snyder, I can't imagine it improving without a competent PG.

And Duke can't keep their frontcourt healthy.

It's just sad to see the injuries pile up in what was looking like a blockbuster tournament with 6 or 7 superb teams and another 10-12 really really good teams. There were going to be at least three really, really good teams that didn't survive the first weekend of the tournament, which was going to make that second weekend something special.

But now Creighton and Oregon are both down a peg. If Duke has any more frontcourt injuries, they go from superb to really, really good. Indiana probably can't be consistent enough with OG is out to get the seeding they should, so they will likely knock off another good team. Same for Louisville.

Anunoby is having surgery and is out for the rest of the season. Crushing to Indiana, probably going to cost them a tourney birth.

It would be the equivalent of Kansas losing Josh Jackson. OG is a stat stuffer

@BeddieKU23 bad news!

Indiana short another player today as Juwan Morgan is dealing with an ankle injury. Hoosiers are seeing injuries pile on

Just the excuses Crean needed to keep his job. Feel bad for those kids.

@BShark what?

@HawkChamp

Williams-Goss of Gonzaga left their game last night with a back injury on a bang-bang play at the rim. Didn't look good but I assume he'll be okay. WG is their best player IMO

Brooks of Oregon has a sprained foot. Might miss a month. Not as crushing as other teams have dealt with.

Creighton got routed in its first game without their floor general. Definitely a team trending down unless they find an option at PG.

Indiana found a way to beat Michigan St without 2 of its starters..

@BShark

Calipari says his injury isn't serious so that means he'll be ready to go next weekend

@BeddieKU23

Not exactly. From what I read, ↗he said he did not know; he said it did no appear to be swelling and he thought it might just be a stinger but he was not sure.
