He was walking to the huddle and just fell to his knees. Doctors checked him and he seemed ok.

Cant joke about a mans health and well being, hopefully he is okay.

So did he need to be hit by the defibrillator or did it just go off? It's 15 years old. Here's hoping he gets it figured out and stays upright!

@dylans he has one implanted, it went off. His rhythm must have been off

Dear Huggs,

I have grumbled at how rough you played the game, but your character, love for the game and love for your school have been inspirational since you brought yourself back to the game at KSU. Love yourself as much as you love the game, Bob. Take care of yourself and get that weight down. You are a one of a kind, legend of the game--the only great bear of a man left in college ball. We need you.

Best regards,

Usually this is true. But I worked with a 75 year old judge who had remarried right before this story takes place. As he told it, "We were coming out of a restaurant, and suddenly I felt this buzzing in my chest, and I fell to the ground like a limp dishrag. My bride, after she realized I didn't have life insurance, started CPR and did it until the ambulance arrived." He always got a kick out of that story.

(Aside: Later, he filed for divorce and she tried to have him committed so she could get his house and money that way. She lost when his son fought back. After that, we thought perhaps she really did do that mercenary calculation before CPR.)

Turned out his defibrillator was not calibrated sensitively enough to detect the wacky misfiring of his heart's electrical pulses, so it didn't kick in. He told us that when it did kick in correctly, it was like a literal kick in the chest without any warning. I suspect the same thing happened to Huggy, and could easily cause a collapse.
