Charlie Moore

Just saw this. http://www.kansascity.com/sports/college/big-12/university-of-kansas/article146681344.html ↗

I like the idea, but he's a small guard. We never do anything good with small guards.

I saw him play several years ago. Didn't know anyone on the court but he stood out. Nice shot, very confident but under control.

Zero to Zero. No pressure, Charlie :)

He appears to be 14 years old.

Apr 25, 2017 08:59 PM #4

@Fightsongwriter that was a year ago. he looks 15 now.

Come in a baby face, leave a man.

Has a lot of ability, good ball handler with some interesting/crafty moves. Turnover numbers weren't great but he had a wet napkin for a coach and was just a FR. Should be a very nice contributor.

Apr 25, 2017 09:23 PM #7

@approxinfinity His HS coach was an Irvin. They've ruled Chicago prep basketball for decades. One Irvin showed up at Missouri, I forget which one, back in the 90's.

Apr 25, 2017 09:24 PM #8

@wissox

Chicago PG pipeline. From Sherron to Moore to Jacobs. :grin:

Apr 25, 2017 09:41 PM #9

This is Frank Masonish

Apr 25, 2017 09:46 PM #10

Except for the Kentucky game, Practice will be harder than the preseason games. Will Charlie, Cunliffe and the Lawson's be able to go to Italy? I envy the wealthy KU fans who will be going to Rome and Milan with the team.

98 days till KU basketball.

Apr 25, 2017 10:10 PM #11

I just got to say that all these years someone always beats me to it to post news to the site here. Well I lucked out and outscooped you all!!! In your face! haha, just kidding!

Apr 25, 2017 10:11 PM #12

Ahhh. It was in the Crootin' thread... But definitely deserved it's own!

Apr 25, 2017 10:21 PM #13

@dylans Shoot, way to burst my bubble!

Apr 25, 2017 10:55 PM #14

My only concern is again having 10 eligible bodies for the upcoming year. One injury from a post or guard from major trouble yet again.

If I'm self I'm trying to get the Lawson father to pay for Dedric for a year given he's gonna make money down the line anyway. That way they can get one more body

Moore also eliminates Dotson or Grimes at this point. We will see whether Moore ends up better then Dotson. Grimes has great size and will be a combo if he comes to KU so I don't imagine Moore scares him off at all

Apr 25, 2017 11:00 PM #15

@wissox wow! I can see it. Carried them to an OT win as a freshman.

Apr 25, 2017 11:14 PM #16

@BeddieKU23 if Preston is eligible

Definitely does not eliminate Grimes. Grimes I would be is the top guard target.

oh, the narratives are bouncing around those little soft brains of the sports writers aren't they? Now, they're writing we're Transfer U to get us deeper in the tournament? Seriously?

@KUSTEVE KU could very well be starting 4 guys in 2017-18 who did not begin their college careers at KU so the "Transfer U" moniker would not be without some merit.

Apr 26, 2017 12:30 AM #21

Transfer U ... 4 guard lineup.... How much shop did Self talk with Hoiburg?

Apr 26, 2017 12:31 AM #22

@wissox It's hard to believe he's just a freshman. He plays with a ton of poise. He will be fun to watch.

Apr 26, 2017 12:33 AM #23

Rock Chalk Jayhawk to c moore

Apr 26, 2017 12:52 AM #24

Just as I posted on the "Crootin" thread that Charlie Moore, the Chicago connection, fails to sign or transfer to KU...He TRANSFERS. I'm going to reverse my logic on recruits more often and see if we get a better response.

Apr 26, 2017 01:17 AM #25

@Texas-Hawk-10 I don't like it.

Apr 26, 2017 01:20 AM #26

:laughing: Yeah, we never do anything with small guards.
love it.

Apr 26, 2017 01:26 AM #27

Kid thinks he can come to KU in the foot steps of Sherron and Frank...I'm all for it. He'll get bigger and stronger with Hudy, he'll learn the system in practice and be ready to ball out in '18. Bring it. Rock Chalk!

Apr 26, 2017 02:21 AM #28

Interesting, so that eats up all of our remaining scholarships unless Svi decides to stay in the draft or take his game over seas. .hen that would leave one for ether Juiston or Duval.

U can x juiston or Duval off

Apr 26, 2017 12:17 PM #30

Yeah KU basically quit recruiting Juiston.

Charlie Moore would be a nice addition to KU basketball. Would give the 3 of them time to build chemistry. I think we are set for next year so getting these guys on board and playing together for a year is imo WAY better than anyone we could grab out of the 2018 recruiting class!

Apr 26, 2017 01:07 PM #32

I think I added up the transfers and there was like 52 points per game averages on our guys that will be on our 2018-19 roster. That doesn't include any current players. That is a solid foundation to build on! Coach Self even said this years practice will be much better due to the talent level of our scouting team (transfers). Its going to be good

Apr 26, 2017 01:57 PM #33

Welcome aboard, Charlie!

Apr 26, 2017 02:18 PM #34

There isn't a hardship waiver anymore right? It would have been a long-shot anyways, but it would be nice.

Apr 26, 2017 05:37 PM #35

@Statmachine

I agree. The 2018 class will be comprised of proven quality player rather than potentially great but unknown players. Alexander, Diallo, Bragg were potentially great players that did not work out. I will take experience over unproven potential...well, most of the time.

Apr 26, 2017 05:38 PM #36

@Kcmatt7

I believe there still is but very hard to get it.

Apr 26, 2017 05:47 PM #37

It looks like we just signed the next Frank Mason for 3 years of eligibility left.

Guards his height aren't exactly smeared all over the NBA draft boards so he will stick it out in school.

I'm thrilled with Charlie! Totally thrilled!

Apr 27, 2017 12:48 PM #38

@drgnslayr I was watching some Bulls-Celtics last night and was struck by Isaiah Thomas of the Celtics who is having a tremendous season being another sub 6 footer and on the short list of MVP candidates, although unlike Frank, I'm pretty sure he's not going to win it.
