This and that...

Has ESPN finally jumped the shark with its latest version of the BPI ↗? It has Wichita State at #1 which on paper is at least somewhat defensible. However, it has KU at #10 and fourth in the Big 12, REALLY?

Also, Jontay Porter reclassified" target="blank" rel="noopener">http://www.espn.com/college-sports/recruiting/basketball/mens/story//id/20297218/jontay-porter-reclassify-join-brother-michael-porter-jr-missouri) ↗ and will be playing for MU next season with brother Michael. MU better take advantage of the 15 minutes of fame they will get the upcoming season before they fall into their usual mediocrity and Cuonzo bolts after the third year. I guess Jontay did not get the memo that KU has one opening for quality big...I take it that playing anywhere but MU would require giving MU the money back and daddy Porter looking for a new job.

I can't think of a single nice thing to say about the BPI.

BPI: Bull Puckey Index.

1 in the BPI should get them a 10 seed in the tourney.

BPI = THE "BALONEY PUBLIC INSTIGATION"

OUR MOTTO:
IT IS OUR DUTY AT THE BALONEY PUBLIC INSTIGATION TO DELIVER PILES OF STEAMING POO IN ORDER TO GET WEB CLICKS.

I mean it literally says it's not factoring in Malik Newman. You know, one of the best two players on the team. LOL.

Had a past basketball coach visit me this summer and he was involved with WSU basketball long ago. He still knows many in the admin there and they gave him a current tour of the facilities and program.

After that, he told me when he met some of the old timers there the optimism is higher now than ever before. A big chunk of it related to playing in a better league.

Lots of high hopes at the W. We know how that can weigh down on a team....

It will be interesting to see them in less of an underdog status.

Who is this WSU you speak of?

BPI, the preseason version especially, weighs returning players very heavily. KU lost Mason, Jackson, and Lucas from its main rotation last year. Azuibuke didn't play enough to be weighted the way he should be for his likely impact. Newman didn't play well enough at Miss. St. to weigh properly, either. As a result, BPI doesn't see Newman and Azuibuke as replacements for Mason and Lucas, instead seeing them as inadequate fill ins.

That's also why UK and UNC are so low.

Once the games start, the teams with top incoming talent will rise as the result bare out the talent.

@justanotherfan It also shows how the metrics for KU were skewed by how much Mason and JJ contributed.

It literally doesn't count Newman at all according to the article.

I hope we get slammed and laughed at this year.

We need fuel for a chip. We are always just way too "comfortable" every season and we get passed by any team that has a chip.

The BPI also gave West Virginia a 80% chance last year to win the B12. I can't believe they still put it out, it's a complete joke.

Look at the growth in Josh, comparing his late nite to this one taken the other day.
