Writing with 12-10 minutes to go second half, Self has made Weber look sick with half time adjustments!!!!

First half, Weber clogged the weave with doubles and route interference with his postman and helping perimeter man in aid of the on ball defender—essentially flooding a zone where the weave toss occurs. Self let it go on all first half as is his custom, then second half ran a weave but sent Doke for easy lob, then stopped weaving and tore KSU apart with wing drives and post feeds KSU struggled to answer. KU separated then defended lead, then attacked inside, but ku’s D let KSU back in the game.

No at 8-6 to go Weber has countered with a stretch offence, more pressure D and less gambling. All tied up! Self is countering with Devonte driving

Both coaches are following the same principle the last 6 minutes. Less offense....

BUT WAIT! Self fools Weber by going back to Weave!!!!

I expect to see Self use him against WVU

It was a startling contrast, Doke was leaping to block shots and grab boards when he has been earthbound for several games. Vick had spring and elevation on Js. Doke tried to block everything!!! Made a huge diff in the game.

Why did squeaky not foul Doke?

Great quote. Thx for posting. I’ve been advocating this all season even before Preston got side lined. The apparent recruiting asymmetry has finally had its effect.

Glad Self is talking plain English to fans.

It might mean he has given up on Preston returning and Da Sousa providing much help this season.

He is stealing wins at home and away.

I think he had them leave it on the floor for a W today and we will get our clocks cleaned in Morgantown.

But a pattern is emerging.

Garrett’s job is to shorten both halves for Vick and Malik, so KU has two fresh scoring threats the last five to 7 minutes of the game.
Devonte and Svi are supposed to shoot us into leads around 12-8 minutes to go, then play through Doke for a couple minutes then finish with Vick and Newman balls to walls on the attack and pressuring the wings and stripping and tripping on D!

This is jungle fighting the last 10 of every game, especially las 6.

KU was using everything from the dirty play book on defense but the COACH K XTReme Cheap Shotting.

The last 10 minutes were a grad seminar in guerilla tactics.

Self understands they are all alone on The Canal and the fleet has sailed for the time being.
