Silvio De Diallo • Nov 28, 2019 10:58 PM

Agree Moss was excellent, better than he played last year at Iowa, scoring or not, his play is vet+

Dave has shown way more offensive potential and defensive activity than Silvio so far. I am HUGE Silvio fan and if he, Dave and Mitch are Manning the post next year, I am happy as a clam-

Don't discount the 17 footer- not making comparison- but Kawhi lives in the mid-range, Westbrook is learning that making 50+ inside the 3 is better than missing 77.5% outside the 3.

Early Season Musings • Nov 20, 2019 11:23 PM

I missed last nights game and haven't found a place to watch it from, but Tristan has looked good in the other games-

Ochai in previous games looked to me like he was trying WAY too hard, he needs to relax.

Agree on Garrett- you take the good and you take the bad- won't be a superstar, not suddenly going to be a lights out scorer, but a solid player overall

I am thumbs up on Moss, but I suspect he will continue to be up and down.

I think by Feb, Silvio will be the best pro prospect heading into this NBA draft unless Tristan blows up.

Roster possibilities • May 30, 2019 08:27 AM

Who is Walker, don't remember seeing his name?

SILVIO IS FREE • May 24, 2019 07:05 PM

My favorite recent recruit, I was really hoping this would happen. I think he is going to be a legit stud next year.

Kicking Players Off The Team Game Thread • Feb 20, 2019 10:02 PM

I think the mix tape shows his skills inside the 3-point line. Really all of his best moments besides vs Mich St. game have been inside the 3 pt line. If I made a list of players that should focus on the rest of their game, then look for the 3:

  1. Charlie
  2. Charles
  3. Chuck
  4. Grimes

I do think Grimes is big-time and will eventually get it rolling. And I have nothing against Charlie, but his shot looks quick, short and off from the get go, it kinda looks like nerves or ???? I'm not a coach, I just wish he would stop after 3 misses. Not on track today, so drive and dish. I really think Grimes could average close to 4 assists a game.

My personal KU basketball History • Jan 18, 2019 12:30 AM

I don't remember it if I did! thought that was later- can't remember and I don't like to google answer every question, sometimes memory versions are more fun to chat about.

Good times to be sure.

I also remember that 89 MU team, it was tough. Doug Smith dunking like crazy, Peeler, Irvin. I kinda miss beating those suckers.

My personal KU basketball History • Jan 17, 2019 09:57 PM

Love it!

I came from a KU family, so I never thought I would go anywhere else (I lasted 3 semesters and finished my BA 20 years later at Fort Hays State- the long and winding road! But my first year was 1989!

Roy Williams went to all the dorms to introduce himself (I was at Pearson), and it was great.

The game I most remember that year was the rematch with OU, waiting outside in a line, (I still have the list of names to keep everyone's place). We lost in OT, but so much fun.

I met Dick Vitale and he gave me the toothpick from his club sandwich as a momento- and I thought it was soooooo cool.

Great memories.

Playoffs- I'm watching Chiefs live. Glutton for punishment. I will watch the Ku victory over failure baylor in the morning. Bad news first, good news after.

Agreed- game practice, practice game- get ready. Although once conference play starts, it seems like we have more of a "get er done" attitude. Hoping we do again this year.

Does an early loss help? • Dec 16, 2018 05:39 PM

Or is that what conference play is for?

I think a young player like Q and Dot to a lesser degree can be a bit passive when games keep ending in a W, when their contribution is less than they want, we want and the team wants. (applies to others besides the freshman).

When a there is a loss, (hopefully a game I taped, never watch and therefore it never happened), different things come into focus.

"I should have taken the open shot"
"I will NOT let my man get passed me"
"I'm hitting my free throws"
"MOVE THE BALL"
"If I played better, we would have won"

I also wonder what this team could be with SDS. A rebounding big with a smooth shot- I know we tend to go small, and I love DOK, but SDS next to DL late in games...

Then Q gets going...

Then things look so good.

Because being undefeated and #1 in the country- is soooo disappointing.

Data sez: Bill Self is frickin awesome • Dec 16, 2018 05:30 PM

Pretty awesome.

MSU KU Predictions • Nov 02, 2018 10:24 PM

Who is our 2nd best player/Scorer? Dedric + rotating #2's? or Dedric + ?

I think we have a ton of 3's and 4's with Doke being Doke.

Once someone grabs the 2 slot I will feel better. But we may be a team with a 1 and lots of 3 and 4 types.

Note- not by position but by scoring/offensive priority.

And of course I am hopeful we will average less than 20 some turnovers.

Who blossoms in Jan/Feb?

Emporia State EXI • Oct 28, 2018 03:11 PM

Also Big Dave could use some flexibility training.

Emporia State EXI • Oct 28, 2018 03:10 PM

It was interesting to think that our best 3 pt shooters could be all of our big men. Dotson and Grimes driving and dishing to the Lawsons and Mitch. I think Charlie needs to settle into a role, Dotson was clearly better in my opinion. Moore- focus on open 3's and the sometimes drive and dish.

Preseason Media Source Question.... • Oct 10, 2018 10:06 PM

Youtube good, PSVue good- maybe others, no experience. The equipment requires- The tv you already have and the computer you already have and the phone you already have- you don't need all- but they work on all.

Cable companies.... $$$$$$$$$$$, DirecTV is fine unless the wind blows, the sun shines or god forbid there is a gentle mist in the air.

Who Will KU Be This Season?...Now • Sep 15, 2018 07:42 PM

Frontcourt ala 07-08, Aldrich, Arthur, Kaun and Jackson- only this group has more flexibility, 2 more deep, with outside shooting from 3 of those.

My opinion, it is all about how the frontcourt develops, the best 2 players are likely one and dones, how good are they in Feb/March- How good is Vick and how much does he play? Is KJ the minutes leader at the 3? What is Garrett- did he develop a shot over the summer?

I'm excited to see how awesome we become.

Jeff Long • Aug 23, 2018 09:23 PM

lordy, about time.

Dam guys somebody • Aug 16, 2018 09:10 PM

I am mostly a reader on this sight, so I agree with @jayballer73, I am excited for the season to get here and the posts of the regulars to increase in volume.

BOLD PREDICTIONS • Aug 15, 2018 08:57 PM

Dedric averages a double double- is clearly the man on a talented team.

Charlie leads the team in assists.

Dotson and Grimes- one drafted in top 20, one comes back for soph year.

Next years starters- Charlie, KJ, returning from above, Big Dave and Lightfoot

I am not a regular poster, but I am pretty sure Jaybate is just enjoying the Jayhawks and the conversation around their basketball team. I don't read all of his stuff, or anyone elses- sometimes his are just too long.. I enjoy the conversations overall from everyone. I don't even pay that much attention to who is posting.

Kinda silly, in my opinion, to judge anyone here. I think it is supposed to be fun.

Glad to see the website is back up. • Apr 14, 2018 08:18 PM

Me too, freaked me out at 4:30 in the morning-- I spent 5 minutes trying to figure out what I was doing wrong before the coffee kicked in.

Jerrance Howard's Son With The Duke Scout • Mar 27, 2018 11:50 PM

KU Buckets 2nd Chance Tourney Pickem! • Mar 23, 2018 08:45 PM

Wrong on all 4 games...

I feel pretty good. This is the type of team we sometimes lose to, but usually beat. I will take the usually today- please and thank you.

KU Buckets Tournament Challenge! • Mar 17, 2018 07:43 AM

The crash of the bracket- now I can focus on the KU game!

KU Buckets Tournament Challenge! • Mar 16, 2018 11:25 PM

I am oh so briefly in first place, please send me a trophy before the cookie crumbles.

DEVONTE GRAHAM - ALL-AMERICAN • Mar 12, 2018 10:53 PM

Whoop Whoop!!

Newman- will he stay or will he go? • Mar 11, 2018 03:18 PM

Excited for the tournament, but always looking ahead...

I was so impressed with Newman, not just his offense, but his defense and "right place, right timeness"- while I thought he would probably come back, I wonder...

If he plays that way through the Tourney- does he slip into the first round, or do NBA teams want to see him be conisistent for a year?

If he and Dok are both back- holy smokes.

Game Day • Mar 08, 2018 11:38 PM

Love the Newman offense, 2nd half defense- excellent!!

Nothing Is Over • Mar 08, 2018 11:56 AM

Sick day today to watch the game! The post gave me hope!

My hopes for KU post season • Mar 03, 2018 05:18 PM

I hope for a fun run! Final Four would be awesome. I know the Elite 8 games are stressful, it feels so different if we get the extra week to feel connected to our team.

things that seem clear • Jan 28, 2018 07:35 PM

I agree that Mitch is playing better and I thought that was easily de Sousa's best game. Maybe Garrett's too.

Vick is still in a bit of a funk but not a negative. Graham missed a ton of drive/finish shots, seemed pretty off the last two games, likely fatigue.

Newman continues his upswing.

I don't know our destiny this year. We could get on a roll and easily make the final four. We could bow out to a bad matchup. But if Graham, Svi, Newman and Vick get going in March at the same time... nobody is better. (I realize that could be said about several teams, but I think we have 3.5 alpha dogs- all clicking- could be fun.)

Trae's hair • Jan 24, 2018 12:35 AM

I can't tell if he is going bald or just doesn't understand hair. It seems to be greased in the front center, and all the rest is in a, need to mow the lawn, but don't have time - I will do it fast but not well kinda vibe. Great player. But yo, haircut police, please intervene.

Trae's hair • Jan 24, 2018 12:16 AM

Pretty sure that is why he isn't a jayhawk.
The hair wouldn't fly on our team.

Baylor Bears - Saturday - 5 pm - ESPN • Jan 21, 2018 01:00 AM

I could be watching Ms. Maisel. I hear it is very entertaining. Please win JHawks.

Allergic to 2pt baskets? • Jan 21, 2018 12:55 AM

why isn't DG shooting?
and why is so off on drives?

Allergic to 2pt baskets? • Jan 21, 2018 12:53 AM

Agreed.

Allergic to 2pt baskets? • Jan 21, 2018 12:47 AM

I feel like we stopped taking 3's and stopped making 2's. I want to beat Baylor. Please make enough of either of those shots.

WVU player punches TT fan • Jan 14, 2018 11:15 PM

Fans need to be fans. We observe. Those fans who think they are a part of the action are mistaken. No need to be on the court. Plenty of leagues to go play in- Lordy, just enjoy the game.

Saturday’s games • Jan 13, 2018 09:22 PM

Areed on Beard. Fun Saturday so far. My favorite sports season- CBB rocks.

New Dynamics on the Court • Jan 13, 2018 09:21 PM

WVU loses!!!!

I shall nap the nap of champions.

FREAKING OUT!

New Dynamics on the Court • Jan 13, 2018 06:48 PM

Well, win or lose, I get to take a nap. Hopefully with some sweet dreams.

No one expects the Spanish inquisition (weave).

New Dynamics on the Court • Jan 13, 2018 06:23 PM

Is lightfoot better with Silvio on the bench, not a threat yet, but motivation? I like his D today.

New Dynamics on the Court • Jan 13, 2018 06:16 PM

The Dok dunk came with playing Graham off ball, Newman point. A set play, but I liked it!

New Dynamics on the Court • Jan 13, 2018 06:09 PM

smelling a run! Go Hawks!

New Dynamics on the Court • Jan 13, 2018 06:01 PM

There were the other 2 bunnies one from Svi and one from Newman. Reminds me of how smoothie Frank would have hit 3 out of those 4.

New Dynamics on the Court • Jan 13, 2018 05:49 PM

I think Garret defended Dwade best. This might be the Kansas Kid's Super Bowl. Hopefully he cools off.
