why am i bumping a pinned topic? something ain't right...

Mar 12, 2018 07:58 PM #4

Many win enter, one will win!!

Mar 12, 2018 08:45 PM #5

bump  it's because I never go through basketball topic, always recent, and it won't stay on top in recent with the pin, only in basketball.

Mar 12, 2018 09:13 PM #6

@approxinfinity Yep. Im in.

Mar 12, 2018 09:17 PM #7

It seems like every year Kansas gets the toughest bracket as proclaimed by the media heads. I don't mind it. I like their chances against any team. Of course, they can win or lose any game too. I just don't see a team with a match up advantage they cannot overcome.

Looks like UNC got a cakewalk to the FF.

Mar 12, 2018 09:55 PM #8

@approxinfinity Alright, I just picked my first, "gut feeling, instinct, first pick, no thinking bracket.
Im sure I'll pick another one or two before Thursdays tip off.

Rock Chalk!

Lets hope we get another parade down Mass street in April!

Mar 13, 2018 12:14 AM #10

I did two brackets, which is not usually my style. Normally I go ALL IN on one big loser.

Mar 13, 2018 12:54 AM #11

I picked the Jayhawks to win it all.

I almost had us losing to Penn, but I have SHU going to the EE (Missouri too). My FF is UK, UNC, Nova, Duke. Duke over UK in the final. I was tempted to put the Shocks in the FF but I see them losing in a war with Nova.

Mar 13, 2018 01:55 AM #13

@BShark You're much better predicting which recruit will sign with us than you are predicting the winner of games. You just ended up at 33% in the B12 tournament, and you were one Dean Wade playing away from pulling a 0%. As Uncle Jed used to say ..."i gotta have a long talk with that boy"...

Mar 13, 2018 02:00 AM #14

I have KU beating WVU in the F4 and then beating UK in the final. I just want to take Huggy down a fourth time!

Mar 13, 2018 02:17 AM #15

@KUSTEVE PENN is going to kick our butt. PANIC!!!!11one

Mar 13, 2018 04:47 PM #18

Looks like only one of my brackets got added to the bucket group, so for me it's Michigan, AZ, Nova, KU, with Kansas defeating Michigan in the championship, overcoming a 14 point deficit in the final minute and a half.

Mar 13, 2018 06:07 PM #19

@DanR :) sweet revenge fantasy bro.

Mar 13, 2018 07:51 PM #20

Dammit you guys. Im really having an existential crisis here. I just cannot pick KU to get past the elite 8 or sweet 16. I just cant.
I want to but I keep having flashbacks of the last 5 seasons.

Mar 13, 2018 09:03 PM #21

Is Keenan Evans back? Is Bamba back? Is Doke back?

Mar 13, 2018 10:00 PM #22

Just saw that UVA lost one of their major players to injury... that changes things a bit

Mar 13, 2018 10:37 PM #23

@Lulufulu - sportsinteraction.com says Evans is likely a Saturday.

Mo Bamba says he’s 100% but nothing from the team.

Doke?

Mar 14, 2018 02:13 AM #24

Our boys aren't going to come into the tournament big dicks swingin just because of how well we've played recently. Even as 1 seed we are underdogs and will play every game proving we really do belong among the elite. That talk by Dtae during his senior speech about the hate they received early in the season by the doubters is still fresh on their minds, despite the conference titles and accolades. They aren't done heat, they have a lot to prove still. They WILL beat this Penn team by double digits. Do not take the emotional toll of 2 consecutive Elite 8 losses lightly. Only embrace the desire to make it back by an experienced team that's truly seen it all. RCJH.

Mar 14, 2018 03:25 AM #25

I even picked the Jayhawks to win it in 1989 so you know who I've got.

I hope that is the case, we can ill afford to come out slow and not respect the opponent.

What I like about the bracket is all the blowhards that have been trying to sell everyone their position as fact (and are more than happy to tell you how wrong you are) are getting ready to have their brackets destroyed by someone choosing teams by mascot/ team color. Or a layman whom doesn’t tell everyone how bad their picks are, just silently lets his bracket do the talking.

I love a good natured ribbing, a fun competition, and maybe a little gloating (very little) afterwards. All the bracket experts crack me up with their predictions. Unfortunately I haven’t watched enough college basketball this season to be a bracket expert for you, so look for advice elsewhere!!!

Actually that was probably about the weakest KU team that I remember since I came to KU in 85!

Mar 15, 2018 02:13 AM #31

@DanR If you use the ESPN tournament challenge app you can go to your brackets and change or join a group for new brackets or ones where you were not able to join. You might have to search for the group name, then click on join group when it is displayed. KU Buckets, with a space.

Mar 15, 2018 01:36 PM #32

Bump, 2+ hours to go until brackets are locked.

Mar 15, 2018 02:09 PM #33

Looks like only 37 brackets so far. Some unusual names out there!

Mar 15, 2018 02:50 PM #34

I’m going to follow Dr Rec and fill out the bracket after the games. Less stress and way more accurate.

Mar 15, 2018 04:28 PM #35

@mayjay

Can't fill bracket anymore. I had family in town for the last week visiting for my father's 93rd birthday and I have not been able to do much. By the time I got around to get to ESPN it was tool late. :disappointed:

Mar 15, 2018 04:29 PM #36

@JayHawkFanToo Congrats to your Dad!

Mar 15, 2018 04:40 PM #37

Locked and loaded. Good luck all!

Mar 15, 2018 08:09 PM #40

MISSED IT THIS YEAR. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

Mar 16, 2018 01:28 PM #41

Are any of the 6000 perfect brackets left from the Buckets crew? I know the one I entered had AZ in the final four (most of my brackets had VA in the final four - poor guess on which bracket to use) and all of them had Miami winning the first game. —Both reasons why I don’t give betting advice.

Mar 16, 2018 02:46 PM #42

@dylans

Looking at the leaderboard no perfect brackets left in the buckets group.

Mar 16, 2018 11:25 PM #43

I am oh so briefly in first place, please send me a trophy before the cookie crumbles.

Mar 16, 2018 11:35 PM #44

I'm in a 3-way tie for 5th after the 3-way tie for 1st.

Mar 17, 2018 12:36 AM #45

I'm in first for now but my bracket is insane and I'll probably end up closer to last when it is all said and done lol.

Mar 17, 2018 02:17 AM #46

I only entered my first bracket on here, I didn’t want to flood the place with brackets!

My best bracket has only AZ and WSU wrong (for now...). I must’ve accidentally picked KSU. It’s still ranked 12,000th on ESPN. There are some really amazing brackets out there!

Mar 17, 2018 02:22 AM #47

@dylans that’s pretty good, the best I ever did was 2012. I had 6 of 8 elite 8 teams, 3 of 4 FF teams right to go with the title game and NC. I believe I finished in 800s of the millions of brackets on ESPN. I usually fill out 4 brackets, 2 of which for money. I have won one 4 of the past 5 years. I fill everyone out night and day different, last year I won my wife’s pool at work. It had nearly 300 people in it and it was for a gift card šŸ™ but was free to compete.

Mar 17, 2018 02:22 AM #48

@dylans et al. if you have better brackets you can still add them to the group; please do! I'd rather see everyone's best than limiting it to one broken bracket.

Mar 17, 2018 02:32 AM #49

@approxinfinity Eh, I’ll wait until the sweet sixteen and see if I even care at that point.

Mar 17, 2018 03:21 AM #50

Didn’t predict Virginia becoming the first 1 seed to lose to a 16 in any of my brackets. Tough way to pick up your third loss.

Mar 17, 2018 03:37 AM #52

Mar 17, 2018 07:43 AM #53

The crash of the bracket- now I can focus on the KU game!

Mar 17, 2018 01:48 PM #54

No perfect brackets left on ESPN out of 17 million. 4 with 1 loss, 86 with 2.

None of my brackets are going to be worth a crap after Saturday. A couple in the 100th percentile for now though at 280 points. They are currently ranked #1329 on ESPN , #4 on fans of Kansas..., but soon to be in the multi millions.

17,300,000 brackets and none of them perfect after the first round. No one could even predict 32 games correctly. Wow!

Mar 17, 2018 02:24 PM #57

The line for KU is now -5, up from 4 1/2.

Mar 17, 2018 03:22 PM #58

http://www.espn.com/blog/collegebasketballnation/post/_/id/121975/tournament-challenge-four-brackets-are-31-for-32 ↗

• Of the 17.3 million brackets, four have correctly predicted 31 of 32 games ... and everyone has at least two right.

• Some 96.6 percent whiffed on UMBC over No. Virginia, but 29.1 percent called No. 11 Syracuse's upset of No. 6 TCU.

• The teams picked most to win the title now that Virginia (18.5 percent) is out of the way: Villanova (16.3 percent), Duke (9.8 percent), Michigan State (8.6 percent), Kansas (7.9 percent), North Carolina (6.9 percent).

Mar 18, 2018 09:21 PM #59

ESPN bracket shows only one game scheduled in the Seet 16, next Friday. Looks like Duke and Syracuse will have to get up really early!

Must suck for the Hawaii team to travel to all those NCAA games...oh wait.

Mar 18, 2018 11:52 PM #61

Wow, I have 3 entries and they are tied for 6th! (Thing2 is mine.) Best I have ever done by this stage--usually in the toilet by now!

Mar 19, 2018 12:33 AM #62

@approxinfinity You wanna hear something crazy? - -I've entered ESPN Bracket Challenge like 11 times this year - -well that's not the crazy thing lol - -But anyways two of my Brackets I'm at a 92.1 % - prediction right - and I am ranked 1,363094- - lmao - -WOW - -and that is with getting 92% right lol -I have a 3rd at a 85.6 % being correct and I'm at 2,486,938 thats just crazy lmao- good thing I'm not betting money lol

Mar 19, 2018 01:08 AM #63

@jayballer73 I think the percentages are where you stand in the tournament, not your correct picks. 92% means you are in the top 8%.

Mar 19, 2018 01:10 AM #64

Bell curve does not apply on the ESPN Bracket Challenge. 92.1% = Loser

Mar 19, 2018 03:17 AM #65

I have lost 5 straight games today. Wow, glad I am not in LV.

Mar 19, 2018 03:19 AM #66

Lol I appreciate that someone out there had only 2 right the first round. That is someone that should look in the mirror and say "whatever I am thinking I should do the exact opposite" easy fix!

Mar 19, 2018 03:23 AM #67

@jayballer73 a lot better than me man! All that poking around other teams message boards paid off looks like!

Mar 19, 2018 03:27 AM #68

@approxinfinity LOL wish it did lol - -I just checked - I have ONE bracket right now that has a 94% accuracy - -guess where that puts me - -sitting in 963,000 position with a - 94% of picks correct - -I give uplol

Mar 19, 2018 03:30 AM #69

@jayballer73 You didn't read my last post to you? It is not accuracy, it is the percentile of total brackets. Winner is 100%, last place is 0%.

Mar 19, 2018 03:31 AM #70

Konate getting T'd up when up 20.

Mar 19, 2018 03:32 AM #71

What a disappointment for Marshall... This shot at their hated "big brother" in state rivals.

Mar 19, 2018 03:37 AM #72

@jayballer73 For example, I have missed 18 picks out of the first 48 (counting WVU as correct). That is an accuracy rate of 62.5%, but I have accumulated enough points to be doing better than 76% of the other 17 million. So ESPN has me at 76%.

Mar 19, 2018 03:39 AM #73

Well here it is -- The four regions now:

West - - -you have a 3 , 4 , 7 , & 9. - -- - East : - -you have a 1 , 2 , 3 , & 5 - - South : - - - you have a 5 , 7 , 9 & 11 and the Midwest : - - -you have a 1 , 2 , 5, & a 11 - -crazy

Mar 19, 2018 03:41 AM #74

@jayballer73 And East and Midwest are on the same side of the bracket, so most of the remaining high seeds are in those two. 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 5, 5, and 11.

The other side has 3 , 4, 5 , 7 , 7 , 9, 9 & 11.

Mar 19, 2018 04:16 AM #75

Well we got an early game Friday - -6:07- -works for me. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Mar 19, 2018 06:13 AM #76

Not a good tournament for even numbered seeds. 13 of the 16 are odd numbers.

That said, it has been an odd tournament.

:-p

I don’t know about anyone else’s bracket, but mine is sorry. Started really good in the first round, fell apart in the round of 32. It’s gonna get worse too.

Mar 19, 2018 02:49 PM #78

@dylans Lol you're in the 96th percentile nationwide! That's doing great!

Mar 19, 2018 02:57 PM #79

@Kcmatt7 Thanks. I aspire to be in the top 100 some day. I should quit my job and watch more basketball to make my dreams come true! Lol. I really don’t know how to pick the Sweet Sixteen anyway. ā€˜Nova looks like the only sure thing, so they probably aren’t. :)

Mar 19, 2018 04:35 PM #80

We'll see what Nova looks like against WV.

Mar 19, 2018 04:36 PM #81

@dylans good idea. creating separate thread for it.

Mar 20, 2018 02:36 AM #82

Mar 26, 2018 03:32 PM #84

Anybody else have 3 of 4?

Mar 26, 2018 03:34 PM #85

@BeddieKU23 It looks like a few people did, but not regular posters. Your'e in the 99.9 percentile right now! Jeeze!

Mar 26, 2018 03:35 PM #86

I...might have had Nova? Not checking lol.

Mar 26, 2018 03:45 PM #87

@BeddieKU23 In a contingency bracket I have Virginia winning, I do have 3 of 4... yuck! Only 820 points currently and only KU beating ā€˜Nova will get me more.

That’s a really nice bracket you have going. The South region completely messed me up in every iteration I put together.

Mar 26, 2018 03:51 PM #88
