Good journalism costs money. The athletic is worth it imo.

Self is putting so extremely lofty expectations on Dedcric this year. I mean it’s first team AA or bust at this point!

I will say that mostly what Self says in the Summer is pretty calculated and probably should be taken with a grain of salt. However, I’m fully expecting 22 / 10 and prayer of the year at this point. 😃

@Crimsonorblue22 The gist is that Dedric is a complete badass. Best player on next year's team by a large margin, best shooter (Moore noted as the 2nd best shooter) and Dedric is one of the best passers Self has ever seen. Not for a big, for any player he has coached.

Another quote: “Dedric is not the quickest-twitch athlete and he’s not the highest jumper, but he has great feel. We’ll be able to run offense through him as much as any big guy we’ve had here.”

This team is built to win it all. Doke and Dedric combo is going to be down right dirty.

This team excites Self.

One last nugget from the article

Self’s early impressions from summer practices: “It is much harder to score because the court seems more crowded.”

There’s a hint of joy in Self’s voice when he says this. Obviously he would like to have better shooters to make it easier to space the floor, but he’s also enjoying the possibility he could have an elite defense again. Last year’s group, which finished 47th in adjusted defensive efficiency, was his worst defensive team in his 15 years at Kansas. “I think when you score easier, sometimes guys take the foot off the gas defensively a little bit,” Self says. “Our foot should be down the whole time defensively, because we are not going to be a team that can run bad offense and come away with three points like we’ve been able to last year.”

@Crimsonorblue22 I agree since what's the point of posting an article we can't read?

@Woodrow "prayer of the year"... I like it!

@BShark Oh he's pumped. He has never had length like this before. I said it a while ago, but I almost expect this team to lead the nation in blocked shots this year. Bill will have this group playing top 5 defense by conference play, no doubt about it.

I really think this is the start of his big legacy sealing run. He may very well win 2 NCs in the next 4 years with how this roster is set up. I'd pick us to be the favorites this season, and then in 2 or 3 once Garrett, Dotson and Big Dave are the team leaders.

I've heard most of that about Dedric, I just am waiting to see it. I worry most about the chemistry.
