I’m picking a surprise upset by Kansas 27-21, sadly we are dogs a team that is probably gonna finish in the bottom half of the MAC. I think all the whispers about Beaty and the disappointment from last week fires up the team just enough to escape with the first road win since 09 (46 games). CMU has a similar style to Nichols, which could benefit the defense seeing it again. The key remains upfront for the offense and if the line can show improvement, which is possible after the first game for a group that was thrown together a few weeks ago. CMU let up 35 points at Kensucky last week and that may not seem like a ton but it is if you consider that Uk had 4 turnovers. I look for a big day from Steven Sims to redeem himself from a lackluster performance.

@kjayhawks I am guessing a 3 TD victory margin for KU, shocking the nation and catapaulting KU to an actual road game victory (first this decade!!!) and maybe more in later weeks.

One stat to look at for this game is that UK ran for 300 yards and 7.0 yard per carry. Beaty talked about running the ball more and both RBs averaged over 5 yards per carry against Nichols, I personally thought we abandoned the run game too quick last week. Run block is easier than pass block for the offensive line, I’d give it to Herbert early and often. Still no word on pooka, my sources say it’s a eligibility issue with school so he may never play a down for us.

It figures when we get a higher ranked player - -here comes eligibility this is how things go for a really struggling program. The kid sticks with his commitment and then more then likely ineligible - I know it hasn't been said yet but I too think that is probably the case.

I predicted a KU win last week so really hesitant this week especially after a CMU loss to Kentucky. - They give up 300 yds rushing to Kentucky which means we get maybe 200 - -because of our line. - Bottom line is our O-Line just has to get it together or it will be a long - - long - - long season.

Having said that I guess I'll say 21-20 KU

Unless the OLine makes a drastic improvement from last week, the streak is going to 47. Maybe I need to re-enroll at KU since the 2009 football season was my senior year there.

I agree. How well the OL plays will dictate how the game develops.

The line opened up making us 7 point road dogs, and it has since dropped to 3 1/2. I think we lose by 20.

Drastically is 100 % right. - these guys have JUST GOT to be beter

I would really like the team to surprise me but, if it cannot beat Nicholls State at home, chances are it will not beat CMU on the road. I am afraid the streak will get one game longer. A marked OL improvement and the game is a toss up, if the same OL shows up then it is a 2 TD loss.

Vegas sharps have flooded bets on KU. But I put money on CMU. I would have laid points if I could have honestly. I expect a 10+ point loss.

@BShark Lol I thought the same thing. I really did put some money on CMU. It'll at least make me watch some of the game this way haha.

@Kcmatt7 I didn't notice the dip in time or I likely would have put most of my winnings from betting on Nicholls last week on CMU. Wasn't going to touch it near a TD.

Neither team has been able to gain a second first down. Each team has two punts. KU is on offense at our 47; 3rd and short

OLine still sucks bad, CMU will eventually win this one. Nicholls is better than CMU though, so if KU can protect the ball, they might have a chance to steal this game.

End of Q1. No score. Another exchange of punts. KU will start Q2 with the ball on our 20. Our defense has been able to stop C Mich. But, our offense continues to struggle from penalties and poor O line play.

Espn plus stream is crap. Jerky to the point of unwatchable.

Should've gone for it there, not much to lose at this point.

Watching the KSU MSU game today, I really think we just need to find a giant athlete to put at QB and run him 20 times. Fitzgerald dominated that game on the ground. Has to be a few guys out there who can't throw at a D1 level but tackling them is like trying to tackle a brick wall.

Sort of related note, when the Royals give up on Bubba, I'd offer him a scholarship in a heart beat.

Gain 7-8 yards and Rui should be able to put KU up 3-0. That's the one aspect of this team I actually feel confident in. Rui is a very reliable kicker with good range.

Both of these teams are rancid but CMU might be worse which is saying something. I remember seeing that CMU has a few players out this first half because of ejections last week.

The defense is stopping C Mich. C Mich only has about 50 yds total offense. KU ball on its 24.

I guess Chanel 38 in KC broadcasts only the home games? Not getting ESPN+, might get the trial 7 day during the basketball season if there is a preseason game not carried on Chanel 38. Following the game on ESPN gamecast.

Only the first game was a Jayhawk TV game. They only get the 1 football game.

All other games should be part of the Big 12 deal and I bet ESPN relegates most they have to their ESPN+ service.

Late Night is actually included in this as well which is really cool.

I think overall ESPN+ is worth it but not for just KU football games.

@DanR Kinda strange: Bender leads KU to a touchdown, then the next series, Beaty puts Kendrick in. But, we are moving the ball.

And Nebraska's may be a future Heisman. True freshman. Crazy talented. Nebraska will be a powerhouse again in no time.

I think it's only a matter of time before Kendrick is our QB. Bender has done good today of taking what us given and not forcing but kendrick can throw it well on the run.

@kjayhawks It'll depend on turnovers. Bender has done a good job of not turning the ball over so far and if he protects the ball like that the rest of the year, that'll help KU out more.

Tua is the Heisman this year. And Bama won't have anyone come within 21 points of them.

How about yhe defense, anyone remember the last time we held an FBS scoreless for a half. Hopefully the offense can get going because I doubt it lasts. I feel like they were a few penalties from having another score.

@kjayhawks This just might be our only legit chance of a Win for the year. - Certainly a game of bad versus even worse.. - I wish I could get excited about the Defense today - -and today I can , then I come back to reality and realize to this point anyways the team we are playing has a lot to do with it. - CMU is bad - -really bad.

But I'm going to try and not be the Debbie Downer , let's hope we can hang on this 2nd half and break this streak. - no wins on the road since 09. -I looked at Bender a lot of completions but very little yardage EXECPT for one - -I was gonna blame Bender but it's the dam play calling - little flares and crap - you got to look vertical. - - Well 7-0 at half so yay. - -CMU only 1 first down keep it going guys.

@JayHawkFanToo did you see the KSU fumble that they ruled an incomplete pass? It was a terrible call and made me pissed about last weeks for KU.

Still halftime. KU had 30 yards of penalties and 151 of total offense. Our offense is so challenged, that we can't afford any penalties.

Yes, KU recovered at the CMU 24 and will settle for a FG and Rui pushed it wide left so it's still 7-0. It's really windy, but that's one Rui should've made.

@Texas-Hawk-10 with out a few drops and silly penalties we would be up 17 right now offense has to get moving and put doubt on CMU.

@stoptheflop I'm fine with what he's doing. Most are pretty short punts that would be hard to field so him letting them bounce is the right call.

Rutgers is really bad too. That game suddenly looks very winnable for KU and that KU will probably be favored in that one.

Rutgers only has 83 yards of offense about halfway through the third quarter. I know OSU is really good, but that's still really bad by Rutgers.

What happens if Beaty wins against Rutgers and then wins a B12 game? What does Beaty have to do to keep his job at this point?

It's weird that we get turnovers and breaks in this game, but in many games in the past all we needed was one small break to get a win. Strange game.

@Kcmatt7 Bowl game, 3-9 still gets him fired. All your scenario does is give Beaty the entire season instead of a midseason firing

@Kcmatt7 I think he has to win 5 to keep it, but if the scenario you said plays out, it probably depends on how competitive we are. Last year we averaged a 32 point loss.

I just want to make sure we give Beaty the benefit of the doubt. I think he needs to go, but man if he shows a big step forward this year (not that he has losing to an FCS team), I don't want to jump the gun on the process. If he wins 4, and we are at least competitive in several games I'd have a hard time letting him go. Just because that means he actually has proven that progress has been made.

4 interceptions and 2 fumbles recovered by KU. CMU offense is pretty bad and KU took advantage of all mistakes.

I’m just super happy for the seniors like Sims, Dineen and Wise that have been here for 4 or 5 years and could’ve been graduate transfers (Dineen, Wise). Those are some of the guys that have worked their asses off and haven’t gave up.
