CFB Week 5 - Degenerates Thread
Sep 27, 2018 04:20 PM #1

Alright, I am just going to pick the Thursday and Friday night games. I usually put in a big 10 game parlay as a lotto ticket each week, and they always start with Thursday games.

So here are the 3 games these next two nights:

Thursday:

  • UNC +17 v Miami -17 : Pick: Miami -17

Friday:

  • Memphis -14 v Tulane +14 : Pick: Memphis -14
  • UCLA +9.5 v Colorado -9.5 : Pick: Colorado -9.5

I'm not particularly crazy on the O/U on any of these.

If I were to pick one of the underdogs to cover, it would be Tulane. They are a tough group and they are at home. But Memphis has looked solid so far this season, and I don't know that Tulane can score with them.

Miami made a QB switch, and so I think they will come out with a ton of energy and kick the crap out of UNC.

UCLA sucks. Colorado has a legit NFL quality QB. UCLA puts up a fight the first quarter, but Colorado will score all game long and win by 20.

@Kcmatt7 Have you seen how one of our former Tight ends? - -I think his name is Jason Steinsburger? - is that right? - they was talking about him the articled was actually about Pooka but mentioned he wasn't the only one having a great year - -talking about another Coach Beaty former recruit/player that is having a great year. - It also talks about Ryan Willis and how he is doing.

Some people just using these examples showing/talking about how Beaty and the staff can't develop players as now these guys are having good years. - - - Might be something to that. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

@jayballer73 I didn't realize Willis was getting the start at VaTech this week. I will be 100% betting against them.

@jayballer73 Lol I'm not hating. That's the beauty of sports betting. It is pure honesty. Put your money where your mouth is.

They lost to Old Dominion with their starting QB so I mean...

@BShark only a 4.5 point game... Easy money

I’m excited to see how Willis does, I believe he should be starting at KU right now.

@kjayhawks I think Willis still is more the level of a D2 QB. And I think VT gets shit kicked this weekend.

Sep 28, 2018 12:59 PM #10

@Kcmatt7 It will be interesting to see how that goes down for sure. Duke has been a doormat for VT for years, have they finally turned a corner or is VT as bad as they played last week.

Alright, I hit on 2 of those 3 picks for the early games. (I myself didn't bet on the Memphis - Tulane game, as I said I figured they were the most likely to cover.)

So here we go today:

  • Oregon v Cal O/U: 59 - Over
  • TAMU -20.5
  • Michigan - 11.5
  • Coastal Carolina v Troy O/U 54 - Over
  • Florida +241
  • Okie State - 18.5
  • North Texas - 6.5
  • Toledo v Fresno St. O/U 60 - Over
  • Tennessee v Georgia O/U 49 - Over
  • Clemson -21
  • Louisville +195
  • Indiana -18
  • UCF -14
  • Cincy v UConn O/U 56 - Over

Texas nearly blows a 19 point lead in Methattan, Snyder going against his assistant coaches and start Delton pretty much cost them the game. I got a good laugh outta it. Texas’s offense look lost as can be most the time, only scoring 10 on a weak KSU defense. No way Texas is a top 25 team currently.

Missed a fair bit here, though I would have agreed with you on many of them before the game.

Surprised you wouldn't have Georgia Tech covering against a rancid Bowling Green team.

Ugh, Louisville! That was brutal.

Sep 29, 2018 11:34 PM #15

@BShark yea a lot of covering going on today. And I just never have a good read on teams with gimmicky offenses. GT obviously being one of those.

Sep 29, 2018 11:38 PM #16

@Kcmatt7 It's actually the only game I bet this week. BGSU has one win against an FCS school and has been murdered on the ground every week.

Rushing yards given up by game

Oregon 212

Maryland 444

Eastern Kentucky (their one win, by 7 pts) 389

Miami Ohio (BGSU is currently their only win) 289

Sep 30, 2018 01:32 AM #17

@BShark good bet. This VT game is a shock lol

Willis finished 17 for 27 with 335 yards and 3 TDs. I’ll say it again it’s amazing how well some of our transfers are doing when they couldn’t even sniff the field here. Goes to show a guy how bad of a judge Beaty and his staff is, also I think this team has a decent amount of talent. They are just poorly coached.

Sep 30, 2018 03:31 PM #19

@kjayhawks It's almost like the KU coaching staff isn't good.
